Cologne Blanche

I love the re-release but I never had the pleasure of sampling the original from 2004 * If you have a partial or decant or full bottle and you want to trade or sell please, DM me. I have a lot of fragrances to trade with.* Review: 7.5 Ml dabber batch 2G01E I did not expect to love this. Opens with a savory, aromatic rosemary and quickly softens to a Clean, herbal, musky, sweet, orange blossom and almond. It’s a pastel blue sky with fluffy clouds. I keep getting whiffs of it each time I move my hand. It’s lovely and reminds me of Guerlian: The same sugar frosted bitter green (Angelique Noire) mixed with smooth, suede like vanilla ( same I pick up in Cuir beluga) I’m not saying Cologne Blanche smells like those two. Just that parts of the composition remind me those two. Perfect as an easy reach and a year round Fragrance for me here in Southern Texas. I tested this indoors. I’ll update to see how it holds up in the heat. Edit Feb. 2024 Purchased a full bottle (40ml) I don’t usually go for these types of fresh/herbal fragrances but this is just so gorgeous! I love the fresh pastel like herbal/lemon opening that blooms into a nutty almond musk with a delicious vanilla dry down! I’m already eyeing purchasing a 250ml bottle. It reminds me of a fresh version of Tonka Imperiale! It has that some marzipan/gourmand almond accord.

A whoosh of orange blossom is what hit me first. It's just so beautiful. Then a smidge of violet is floating around and tinkling my senses. Normally I'm not into vanilla at all, but here it is just a smidge and it gives it somehow a little more depth. Suddenly, there's a rush of thyme that is hitting me. It's a wonderful surprise. It's all sprinkled over with powdery snow. It's one of the times where the name just fits the scent. I'm still puzzled that it's an edp. It lasts as a cologne. I don't mind that at all, it just seems odd to me that it is suppose to be an edp. I remember the old cologne version was much stronger and deeper in character. I miss that. But I'm happy that Francis Kurkdjian bought it back tho. Only wish it was more intense. I dunno if the hefty price tag can justify the scent. I bought mine on a second hand app and got it for a good price. If you do that, definitely worth buying. Wouldn't recommend blind buying.

When I first tried it blind, I expected a traditional cologne with citrus, petigrain, neroli, etc. However was a really nice, smooth, and surprisingly long lasting, white amber fragrance. This does have citruses and herbs on the opening, but to me it's more about the almond, vanilla and tonka. It's not uber fresh but never heavy, and doesn't smell gourmand at all. The orange blossom really contributes to both the smoothness and clean aspect, while preventing it from becoming savory. I think this can be worn in any weather or situation except night out or formal. Eventually I'll find a fair price on either a 40ml or something smaller to add to my collection. I'd use this situationally, whenever the mood strikes me to wear a different kind of cologne. -------------------‐--------------------------‐---------- Scent 82/100 Performance 75/100

Dior Cologne Blanche (2004) - powdery almonds - Oh how I dreamt this day would come. I wished #franciskurkdijan would come back to Dior to recreate this perfume I fell in love more than 10 years ago. Of course, that came true with this cologne’s relaunch. The best way to describe the perfume is through visuals. Crystals filled with light and dusted by a faint white powder - creating different forms of light and shadow. Unlike almond perfumes that are gourmand and sweet, this focuses in creating a fresh powdery almond accord. Citruses and aromatics give freshness - zesty, piney and camphor. White musks and coumarin give depth and radiance. Mr. Kurkdijan has always been known to perfect the craft in mixing musks, this one, much better than his Mfk range. A wonderful re-addition to the Dior exclusive line

Scent takes some time to jive with. I’ve had it for 6 mos.- a year now, and I put it on today and fell in love. This style of fragrance is one of my favorites so there’s that but, I really think it’s an exceptional example. The almond is bitter to my nose, or simply obfuscated by a clear but comfortably herbaceous tone from the rosemary. I absolutely love the opening. Then, in the mid you get, of course, the orange blossom which presents as a balance of sharp and lightly sweet qualities. Different than the sometimes saccharine sweet designer use of the note. And in the base, again, a mildly sweet tonka/coumarin. An all seasons wear for me, in the grandest sense of the phrase. More of a day fragrance, with great class and office wear appeal.

I’ll never forget it and stop thinking of it. It was the most perfect dreamy fluffy comfy almond-heliotrope-citrus-powder. Seemingly simple, yet just so perfect. Cologne Royale is a basic cologne and not a replacement for this. Love you forever Cologne Blanche. 10/10. PS: I mean it, please message me if you want to sell a bottle. Very happy they brang it back to Dior collection. But the difference with the 2004 edition is big! The first edition was a real cologne with bright and sharp top notes where you could smell the petit grain, the almonds. The top notes were great and juicy. And the base was definitely with more character. The tonka aroma was three-dimensional. If you had it you would know what I, m talking about. The new one even though it seems identical is a quite different experience. Soft, orange blossom powder. I, m still happy to have both..

2022 relaunch IT'S BACK and I GOT IT! I am thrilled to share that it smells just the same to me. It doesn't seem reformulated or weaker or different in any way. Cologne Blanche is the ultimate gorgeous herbal-citrus-almond-powder and it’s BAAAAAAACK baby! If you were to say Cologne Blanche is too simple and basic I’d kind of agree. However it is just so brilliant in it’s uncomplicated simplicity, I think it’s perfection. It’s far too expensive but since it’s one of a kind, & I love it, it will always be mine.

More than what I expected. I am pleasantly surprised by Cologne Blanche, first of all, it doesn't perform like an Eau de Cologne, it has depth while being simplistic, MFK does minimalist compositions very well (MFK APOM pour Homme). Overall it is Very elegant, alluring, and light. Creamy, sensual, and introverted, the main notes I can pick are almonds, Vanilla, Orange blossom, and violets. A tad bitter in the opening. Amazing

This was he most delicate and comforting scent I owned in 2004/2005. Warm and fresh in equal measures: a masterful guidance by Kurkdjian... I miss you Cologne Blanche BRING IT BACK DIOR, DAMN YOU!!! p.s. IT'S BACK (2022)

It’s very pleasant... it’s the most exciting and beautiful orange blossom I have ever smelled. I didn’t have enough time to test properly, but it’s definitely a luxurious powdery scent with hints of almonds. Big love!

I'm a man and like it, recived a sample when I ordered from Dior. To me it's powdery and cool, yes the scent is cool, feeling cool when I wear it.

Cologne Blanche (2J01) I would entirely miss this concept of "Cologne Blanche" if I have just not read concept of "Powdery Dandy Fougere".. hell yeah.. this is actually build on Fougere construction. yeah, and again from King of Fougere, Francis Kurkdjian. Normally, as Cologne default. We will think of Citrus Aromatic. Like Eau de Guerlain, 4711 or from Similar house "Cologne Royale" And in regards of Cologne style, undoubtedly, Cologne Royale is a clear winner. Key of Cologne Blanche is a combination of Cologne and Fougere Genre. The fresh sparkling citrus opening shortly, Then A blast of Slivery aromatic Rosemary substitute the Lavender from classic construction. Cologne Royale being hybrid Fougere is more evidenced. In later dry down, when soft powdery almond note sprinkle by lite-sweetness of Tonka. You could smell soft, aromatic ambient from Rosemary in this, I would go as far as this might contain, a touch of lavender (or lavendin). "Powdery Dandy Fougere", is another Fougere construction where the powdery heart. Is more evidence than aromatic note. Sweet and Powdery. Think of a how French Man in 1700 smell like. The Dandy Fougere is sweet powdery Fougere without strong aromatic note. The popular Fougere in this construction is Chanel Boy / 1725 Histoires de Parfums. Still, contains important characteristic of Bergamot top, Aromatic heart (Lavender, Clary Sage or Rosemary) and Tonka (in this regards, Coumarin base). I notice amount of fizzy aldehyde, pretty much reminds of Shalimar, but without leather. However, Cologne Blanche - is not tuff or extremely sweet and truly easy essential for people who love soft aromatic sweet powdery note, and it is fairly unisex however, I would love to smell this on a man. I believe Francis Kurkdjian, name this fragrance as regards "Cologne of the morning" - Cologne to wear in the morning. He seems obsess with this concept as later on, when he first move out from Dior. He creates "Cologne Pour Le Matin" (Cologne for the morning) in 2009, later Petit Matin (Little morning) in 2016. All of this build entirely on similar construction of Citrus / Soft Powdery. As he modernize as per the world, he let go of the strong powdery as use new world amber instead. (This structure seems to have high fluidity.. the concoction of Citrus / Aromatic and Soft Powder) I personally appreciate the Fougere without floral note. (so Chanel Boy didn't make a cut for me). However, as his weapon of choice. soft floral tone of Orange Blossom really do help wonderful here. Even I appreciate more authentic Citrus-Aromatic profile. I am highly welcome the construction that can combine Citrus & Fougere effortlessly for a lite Fougere effect. That is my reason while I would call Cologne Blanche, the masterpiece. uncomplicated with good twist. Ps. I have never sniffed the original back then in 2004 the review is based on my purchased bottle in 2022. I would love smell original too so I can compare the difference direction on each version.

Starts with a light almond, orange, mild lime and pinch of mint opening. The mint note is based on real mint leaf and is slightly bitter, very nice and lightly green - not the typical mentholated, cold, synthetic, transparent type. The fragrance opens fresh but softens and warms up after a half hour. It turns creamy and just lightly (white musk) powdery a few minutes after that but the buttery almond and fresh orange manage to stay on top. As the orange begins to fade the orange blossom and rosemary become more prominent paired with the creamy almond note. The fresh mint leaf is only slightly noticeable an hour into the fragrance and that is pretty much where the fragrance stays for a few hours until it becomes a close to the skin, velvet smooth scent. Even though it's a cologne it last quite long and projects an even foot or two - quite softly. It leaves a light scent trail. It lasts around four hours in projection mode and another four closer to the skin. This is literally one of those fragrances that is like putting on an article of clothing. When somone is near you they sense it but are not overpowered by it. A very nice elegant cologne, very comfortable and natural. Really lives up to the blanche moniker. Definitely worth testing if you are looking for a fresh, creamy and lightly warm scent that doesn't project too much.

Opens with a soft, powdery impression reminiscent of baby powder, with light citrus from orange and bergamot adding almost a laundry detergent scent. A hint of herbal rosemary peeks through, but overall the opening is very clean and powdery. As it transitions, the citrus and laundry-like sharpness fades into a creamy, soapy white floral, with the powderiness much less dominant. In the dry down, vanilla and warm, powdery tonka bean add subtle sweetness. It's a faint musky skin scent, but the powdery impression remains dominant. The overall fragrance is soft, comforting, and extremely subtle — more of a skin scent than a statement perfume. For me, it’s okay but unremarkable, barely noticeable, and ultimately evokes the clean, powdery aroma of baby powder. Rating: 5/10 – soft, subtle, intimate, but not particularly memorable or exciting.

On skin it opened up powdery with almond for a sec then sharp bergamot kicked in for a few seconds then it turned powdery and almond vanilla. All these very close to being skin scent and evolved in a few minutes. Whereas on clothing it opened with the sharp bergamot and then rosemary turned up then gradually becoming a less green and soft orangy scent. After about ten minutes, the orange scent slowly turned powdery almond. Alas at this stage the blend of orange and powdery almond scents was not too pleasant. Or at least I didn’t like it much there. On skin it was a very quick process so I didn’t notice anything there. But on clothing, it was too slow a process. The dry down was rather familiar but couldn’t quite pin it yet. After 9 hrs, still left with vanilla skin scent. Still overall a likable scent.

I wore this perfume back in the days, I loved it, fresh clean aromatic but rounded by this sweet almond and and hint of vanilla, easy to wear, it really suits a perfectly tailored white shirt, it's minimalistic and plays with contrasts, bright and sweet powder... This scent reminds me of some images of silver reflections... and has a tactile character if you know what I mean, like also l' Eau d'Hiver, without the iris part; they could have named it cologne d'argent. I tried the re-released recently, and I feel like the citrus part is a bit more present than what I remember, so it's closer to a classic cologne and I think it's a shame, but still ok and a very good and wearable creation anyway

This is beautiful! It also absolutely smells of baby wipes. The foundation of it appears to be anisic aldehyde (one of the powdery, doughy notes that gives L'Eau d'Hiver and Apres l'Ondee their signature smell) smoothed over with citruses, modern musks, and hedione...but then there's this slightly sour, piney, herbal note that creates the feel of baby wipes. Luxurious ones, to be sure, but the association is there. This sounds like damning with faint praise, but it is quite pleasant and quite refreshing and I love that this provides the refresh a traditional eau de cologne provides but in a unique way (like the other two original Dior private collection colognes).

In late 2023 a Dior’s seller of Bon Marché in paris tell me the brand will cancel soon this perfume such as Fève délicieuse (which is No more in stock in website EU). But now Cologne blanche are still on sell. I don’t know if is true but it will be safe to backup if you like it. This perfume is elegant, light and fresh. But with this constant reformulation or discontinued of the brand, i’m bored, i will dont buy anymore Dior. Now i will focus small niche brand.

Cologne Bland. The opening fades quickly and all you are left with a powdery tonka/vanilla. People liken it to baby powder but there is an additional sweetness to it. It is quite soft but duration is exceptional as it lasts all day. A bit too simple and bland for me but I certainly don't dislike it. I was hoping for more rosemary or prolonged citrus to give it some pop and interest. Glad I only bought a 40ml but not sure if I will keep it.

Really unique citrus and almond/vanilla/tonka combo, rosemary gives it some crispness. Dior has a bad tendency to discontinue its true gems like this. Not completely my style, but this is an excellent spring and summer scent. 12/06/21 edit - This scent is growing on me. It's seriously wonderful!

Towards the last quarter of this year you guys who wished this back would probably get you wish come true. Hopefully it won’t be too reformulated.

This fragance(2022) smells like a baby. Powder+Almond.

Nothing like Guerlain l'Homme ideal cologne, other than broadly being in the same genre. The Guerlain features a bold grapefruit accord in the opening the almond being an embellishment at best. In the dry down there is also a robust woody vetiver. This is definitely much sweeter and heavier on the powdery almond. Quite musky, but also rich in vanillin. There definitely is a very fine almost iris-y baby powder feel to it. More so feminine than unisex imo.

I bought this almost a year ago and wasn't crazy about it. Sprayed that couple of times, and put that in my closet. I looked at the bottle couple of days ago and tried it again. I don't know if it matured or what, but now I am in love with it. The scent is richer for sure. Still powdery-almond-clean with hint of citrus, but also fun and sexy at the same time. And it stays. Im happy I didn't give it away.

Powdery almond scent. Did not notice a lot of citrus until I over-sprayed it, but even then it disappeared rather quickly. Changed into a clean skin scent that lasted for about 2 hours on me. I can see wearing this in a hot climate, on vacation.... It's OK, but not in love with it. Especially for the price.

Powdery clean and sweet almond, dry and unroasted. The orange adds a squirt of bright freshness, but the almond stays the star throughout. True to the notes, very well blended as this perfumer always does. A lovely skin scent for an almond lover with the budget for it. I will pass.

At a certain time I am reminded of Bvlgari Bvl Pour Homme. That baby wipes aroma.. CB is better blended, better ingredients & more tolerable. Orange Blossom heavy. Unisex leaning feminine. The mix of almond/ citrus comes off a tad strange.. I believe it’s the tartness of the bergamot & maybe even rosemary creating this twang! Dry down when the nilla & tonka kicks is is great, really enhances the almond. Unfortunately by this time the scent is barely detected. Usually not one to complain about longevity, but it does suck here & IMO not worth the price because of that

This is not at all what I thought it would be based on reviews. I get a blast of super strong rosemary followed by orange blossom but not sweet orange blossom. I don’t get anything fruity or almond or even vanilla. Just super herbal and powdery. I’m super sad, I thought I would love this as I typically love powdery almond fragrances. It reminds me of my grandmas hairspray, mixed with a bit of that vintage cosmetic smell.

@Leathercouch I don’t need to check my nose at all, everyone smells fragrances differently. I personally don’t get vanilla, I get powdery hairspray/baby powder from this. I don’t expect you (or anyone else) to smell everything the same as me, that would be bizarre! If everyone smelled fragrances the same then there wouldn’t be so many fragrances to choose from, everyone would just own the same ones. THINK about it.

Pine cleaner meets pencil shaving. This is terrible!! No one wants to smell like this on purpose!! I’ve been punked...

Dior's Cologne Blanche is absolutely delicious. It's the perfect blend of sweet citrus and powdered almonds. The simplistic nature of this fragrance works in its favour. I'm surprised to hear that this fragrance has been pulled from many Dior boutiques across the globe. If anything, you'd think it would be a best seller. It reminds me a little of Roger & Gallet's Amande Persane, another soft and citrusy almond scent, perfect for the warmer months. Admittedly it smells more feminine than masculine to my nose, but I'm sure it has its share of male fans. Cologne Blanche has a crisp opening of almond, orange and bergamot and a delightful drydown of creamy sandalwood and Tunisian orange blossom. I don't see how anyone could dislike this scent. Dior's Private Collection really shouldn't be private. I'm half inclined to write a letter to Dior asking that this range be made more readily available. Cologne Blanche may indeed be an eau de cologne, but the longevity certainly doesn't reflect this. I would say that it has great projection too. A light scent that is definitely noticeable. If the thought of a delicate, citrusy almond scent makes you salivate, do order a sample of Cologne Blanche. I can guarantee that you'll be impressed.

First things first: Fragrantica, please make a separate entry for the 2022 release If you’re a fan of the original CB and were hoping to find it again in the 2022 version, save your money. This is NOT it. Yuck. As much as I love the original, I can’t stand the 2022 CB. It has a metallic tang from what I’m guessing is Ambrette seed, and some run of the mill bland laundry type musc. That’s all folks. FK did an excellent job with Dioriviera, but he butchered CB. I haven’t tried his version of Bois d’Argent but if it’s as bad as the CB rendition then I will just hold on to my original bottle and when it’s gone I’ll buy VC&A. Huge disappointment. I had ticked LOVE for this fragrance but I’m about to change it to HATE if this entry covers the 2022 release.

I purchased the very first model. It's the 125ml from 2004. Unlike today's version, you had to unscrew the cap and insert the spray nozzle separately. And compared to the current version, it has a much stronger, more lemon-like citrus top note. The powdery aspect is also more pronounced. The current version is a bit more subdued and diluted. However, the overall feel is similar. If you can find it, the 2004 “Exclusive to Couture Boutiques” version is better. But I didn't feel the change was significant, not like the first Eau Noire and the one nowadays.

I admit I'm still trying to figure this out. To me, the rosemary note is so acetic and metallic in the opening, that it makes the scent repellent, and it hangs in throughout the duration. I could layer it over vanilla, but that rosemary would still be making the fragrance metallic and sharp. I don't know. I wonder if it is a getting to know you or a getting to declutter you scent. I'm gonna set it aside for a couple months and then come back to it. You may see my bottle on Mercari in 2027. We'll see...

I don't usually pay attention to the durability of fragrances or the projection, but this one surprised me with its subtlety...it disappears quickly, leaving a slight almond-like echo. The almonds are a little milky when mixed with the vanilla. The first 120 seconds of the start with orange seem apotheosis to me, quickly passing to the Nivea smell of old times and then to milky almonds. Frankly, I prefer more heliotropic and tasty almonds like those from LT Piver, more dynamic and less "petit-dejeuner"

The almond and orange blossom combo is to die for. My skin never agreed with almond, but with CB, the almond is oh so gorgeous ! 😍 I can wear it all year round, even in heatwave summer, this scent just blooms, and the vanilla and tonka is very elegant and lasts forever on my skin. It’s one of my Dior Privé I wear the most (along with Oud Ispahan and very recently Dioriviera). CB could be my signature scent if I didn’t have Gentle Fluidity Gold.

No longer in Dior Boutiques, but Neiman Marcus was the last known retailer in the states to carry this fragrance. To my memory, it was smooth, faintly creamed and very fresh with a bite. I regret not getting it when I saw it. It still stands out as one of the best scents in the "clean class" my nose has ever captured. Although titled "Cologne", it is an Eau de Parfum with moderate projection and over average longevity.

Sounds like it’s just me, but I get a dominant rosemary in the opening. This is very herbal for me. After about 30 minutes it’s a lot more balanced. I wore l’eau d’hiver for a while and I didn’t think of it at all whilst wearing cologne blanche. I may be more sensitive to a Rosemary note because it also stands out for me in amouage’s reflection man.

I was told that this smells like citrus and Christmas! To me it’s a white light amber thats very smooth and creamy, with an herbal citrus opening and a soft sweet dry-down. I also get some spices, is that cinnamon? Very unisex, very elegant, and very lovely to wear.

Beautiful scent, similar but not the same as Cologne Royale. The almond in this is great and the crisp clean feel you get is remarkable. I’m hunting for a 250ml bottle if anybody has one for sale. Tester or full presentation or bottle only I want it !!!

Powdery almond orange blossom combo. Not sure if I like it yet. It has some spiciness that I can't tell where it is coming from. Smells a bit medicinal too. Interesting to sample, but I don't think I would wear it.

Cologne Blanche available on its own (without buying La Trilogie Initiale together with Eau Noire and Bois d’Argent) Also available in 40 ml bottle. So excited to have it back in my collection. 🥰

A nice enough cologne, but nothing special; a clean citrus opening, with a bit more depth than some, but not full bottle worthy for me.

Discontinued since 2011, replaced by Cologne Royale, so I was told by Dior Boutique in Paris.. Someone tried both? Any difference?

If this had better longevity and especially projection it would be one of the best everyday fragrances ever. Sadly it doesn’t.

@Catmo you got to check your nose friend. This is super vanillic and powdery in the dry down. Coumarin is really prominent.

i love it. fine smell!.delicate. and delicious for sensitieve noses. If anyone has one over i want them.

Not discontinued. I was at Harrods in London Jan 2014 and they still had this.
