Rose Star

The "reminds me of" section is honestly trolling, it smells nothing like the perfumes listed. Its an oriental rose. I usually steer clear of perfumes like that because I do not like strong scents or oud/amber; to me it is headache inducing. I expected that going into the boutique because of the "region exclusive" label. This perfume while being an oriental spicy rose; it does it in a way that isnt cloying and refreshing. I truly think this is a people pleaser, its hard not to like it. I was worried it was going to be similar to Montale's rose perfumes, or Portrait of a lady - but its not. Its oriental but not "in your face" if that makes sense. Delina is another rose scent; but it is so screechy and loud I couldnt enjoy it when many do. Rose Star to me; is Delina grown up, without the rebellion. Shes calmer, and more confident. I would say it smells like Delina, after washing it off with a powdery soap + lipstick. Its addicting. A lady with me at the boutique didnt like it because it wasnt "loud" but Rose Star's subtlety is her strong point. Dont mistake that for being a weak scent; its just the region's preference here for loud perfumes. Rose Star isnt as loud as most perfumes in the region, but it has a strong lasting power. I can still smell the scent from my clothes hanging next to me, and that was over 12 hours ago. The scent imho, is superb. It lasts a very long time, but has soft radiance to it. Its unmistakably feminine. Its hard not to like it. I got a full 200ml bottle.

Gorgeous sherberty sparkling sweet rose fragrance, strawberry rose jam, lychee and a hint of clean cotton washing powder type fragrance that’s so clean & fresh. Thankfully there’s not much pink pepper and I don’t find this spicy at all. This isn’t your typical powdery rose bath cube type fragrance, this is fresh, modern, youthful & vibrant. I’m not really into rose fragrances but I love this one as it’s not your typical rose. Reminds me a bit of the original Ralph Lauren Romance.

I was completely blow away by this frag. I don't understand the hate at all. I can't see much resemblance to anything from the Reminds of section, it's quite original and not a soliflor for sure. Very well-blended, not too heavy, leans more to the fresh side. Muskiness is just on point. Love it!

Just received a sample and this is the best rose scent that Dior has come out. The pear makes it sweet but thus fragrance transcends all seasons. It last for over 7+ hours on my skin with a long projection. Perfect blend of pear, pepper, musk and rose! Well done!!!

It's jammy, rosy, modern but eternal, somehow mouth-wateringly tart. I do not understand the accusations of unoriginality at all - this is absolutely a novel rose to me. Impressive longevity and sillage. Fully intend to invest in a 6.8oz bottle.

I don't know what other people smell but this is gorgeous 😍 Reminds me a lot of Delina DNA,but more pungent I would say! Gorgeous rose fragrance with honey sweet base, I love it and will buy a bottle soon 🩷

Excellent fragrance. Rich, elegant and very long lasting. All the nuances of the oriental rose, floral, then fruity, then muscy, then peppery, fresh, sweet and syropy, all at the same time. Love it!

I honestly think this perfume is overhated for some reason. I personally think it is a good rose scent, perfect for layering or wearing it on its own

shocked to see the hate!? this was absolutely amazing, to me Francis Kurkdjian never misses i truly love most of his perfumes he has my taste.

I Smelled this on someone at HYROCK games. oh my gosh!!! it's so amazing.

To my nose, the smell is very similar to Delina Exclusif and Atomic Rose. It's quite long-lasting on my skin with just one spray off the sample vial. It's another jammy rose note, nothing special from FK's creation, but it doesn't make it a bad perfume. I am not sure whether it's the pepper note, but it does linger really strongly on my skin. I am not sure whether I like this or not, just like the Atomic Rose maybe it's just a little too strong for my nose from time to time. Delina Exclusive and Delina I do own and like them. If you are new to Dior perfume then you should be able to find something more special to you. If you like rose, you can try La Colle Noire under its perfume collection. Or if you like this scent then you might want to try some other similar perfume first as it doesn't have to be Dior. Unless you are a fan of the brand....

I genuinely don't understand the hate around this fragrance. It is gorgeous! I first tried it at the Dior store and immediately fell in love with my tester strip. I then owned a bottle for a short period of time and it was still just as good. I'm not a fan of feminine leaning scents, let alone rich rose scents, but this one is done so well. It's so smooth and sexy. It's also strong so don't overspray it or it'll become very overpowering and cloying.

It's nice. I'm not a huge fan of rose, but don't dislike it either. This is a very clear painting of a pink rose, with a surprising amount of spicy pepper. Seems very versatile for all seasons, and has strong performance. It's the quality I'd expect from this perfumer and line. If you love rose, you should give it a try. Edit: I finally realized what this reminds me of. Rose flavored Turkish delight!

Simple lush pink rose pretty much just like the juice color, it’s sweet and jammy but still a bit fresh and sharp smelling, just an overall smooth rose accord. Looking at the notes I couldn’t tell anything apart from literally rose and some musk no honey stickiness more so a code word for a sweetness.

Listen, i’m not saying this is the best rose out there, because there’s no such thing. It is, however, unique with this sharpness that’s hard to pin down. I have a huge bottle I’m never going to get through but I enjoy this scent so much, I don’t even care.

Thought I would love this based on the notes, after testing it’s just nice to me. Nothing to write home about, it smells so similar to the woody roses in my collection. But no doubt it’s beautiful, a deep mature rose.

I have a sample size but as always with FK perfumes I’m disappointed with the sillage. It is expensive too for a pretty unoriginal rose perfume. There are much cheaper and better ones available.

Bit generic rose, not offensive and with a bit of a sweet tone to it. Not too special for the price, as it also doesn’t last that long for me.

Had a sample. Tried a few other niche Diors and only liked 1 of them so far, but this, this is a no again from me. The others weren't my thing, BUT the were some kind of art. Not wearable though. All were the newer creations. But this, this is so plain. Like a designer. The cheaper designer fragrances are even better than this one! This is unoriginal, and dare I say, boring? I will still try it on skin, but on clothes, it doesn't become sweeter as the comments suggest. Only thing I smell is rose .... and musk... actually what it reminded me off, was that paper box filled with old potpourri from the 90's. Nothing fresh, no honey, no pear. Only merit I can give it, it that it lasts forever. Like comments said, reminded me of Chloe, of Narciso Rodriquez (not the one mentionned but the All of me one) and that Kayali one, and the Kayali is more fruity and fresher and younger (and all of them are CHEAPER). This is a scent for a granny, who doesn't want to stand out in a crowd, but disappear in it.

Something nauseating lurks in here, not sure what's doing that to me, but an otherwise pretty scent is repulsing me, but very subtly. I'll update this when I've got my head around it (or scrubbed it off, could go either way). ... OK I really don't like this, the pear is extremely synthetic and clashes with the other notes. The honey (not that I could identify it as such) is more of a vague agrestic sweetness than a honey note. The rose is the best part of this, but it's ruined by the juvenile, cloying, grating, and very linear fug of the rest of it. Kurky already did this, and he did it way better, with Rose Barbare.

It’s nice. It’s my introduction to perfume with pepper and I do enjoy the scent. Big however, I’d say I love this if it wasn’t so expensive and basic for the price. I’d love it if it was a £30-£50 but these recent DIOR releases aren’t worth it. I mean it’s DIOR who’ve released beautiful scents like Hypnotic poison... Thank god I got a small sample bottle of it. Someone please let me know if there’s a dupe that’s cheap out there.

Smells like those 90's rose scented decorative bath bubbles/soaps from Avon that your mom would get as a gift and you weren't allowed to use. Not expensive smelling in the slightest, but I don't hate it.

Basically rose but fresh not too sharp floral rose really bland and basic... im not and I wouldn’t like FK creations in my entire perfumery career i really don’t like this person

Unfortunately with Dior prices almost doubled by changing sizes even though I’m a huge fan of this line I won’t be buying.

This is so incredibl..y boring. I'm not jumping on the hate just to be a hater. This is a good fragrance on its own. If you put this in a designer bottle from Guerlain in their Aqua Allegoria line and call it Rose Poivrée (pepper rose) then it's a banger for 100 euros. But in the private Dior line, this is just not it man. This is very boring for niche perfumery. There's nothing artistic about it, it's just rose, pepper and musk. It smells like it was extremely easy to make, it's not complex at all, but most disapointingly : it's not luxurious. The rose is a high quality rose, but again I find high quality roses in Guerlain fragrances for 100 euros. For 295 euros, I feel attacked. What's going on at Dior ? It feels like they're straying away from niche creations and are creating massively overpriced designer stuff. Also, where's the honey ??? There's absolutely NO HONEY in this. Not even a trace amount. It's just rose, pepper and musks. I know Francis Kurkdjian is getting a lot of hate for his work at Dior, but I do not think he's the one to blame. I own Oud Satin Mood extrait and it's in my top 3. He knows how to do a rose fragrance. He knows how to make a fragrance smell like luxury in a bottle, he knows how to make jaw dropping stuff. It's not technically possible that this guy who created Oud Satin Mood did this ALONE and thought it was a great rose fragrance for 295 euros. Another massive L for Dior. Credit where credit's due : performance is very good.

Is this just Mon Parfum Cristal spiked with pepper? I think so. It also reminds me of Lancome’s Roses Berberanza. The core feels the same—syrupy honey-drenched rose—but now there’s a peppery edge and a whisper of oakmoss (like the oakmoss in Gris Dior). The amber-musk base is still there, but the powderiness takes a step back. In the far background, I detect hints of those pear hard candies, but the pepper and rose dominate. It’s simple, sweet, and warm—moves quietly from fresh to richer as it wears. Nothing groundbreaking, just quietly pleasant, though the pepper and musk make a statement throughout the wear. Stronger on the skin than I expected, but fades after about four hours. Personally... not blind-buy safe, but if you’re into honey rose fragrances and want some spice and creamy warmth, it’s worth sampling (the Dior store on Bloor in Toronto now has this in stock).

I recently tried Lunamaris from Diptyque, and the main impression that stayed with me was the very peppery opening, than never really went away. While these 2 are different (that one being a more salty composition, this one more fruity), this pepperiness was so so similar. So if you loved Lunamaris (almost nobody does), then you might like this, if you found it weird, this one will be just as weird. I don't know if this is a new trend or I just keep picking these kinda scents lately, but I don't believe that this type of unusual or quirky composition would resonate with either the Dior Privée clientele or the fans of classic Diptyque scents. I think this is the weakest release of all the Diors created by Kurkdjian. He has to pull himself together or LVMH will replace him with Quentin Bisch, haha.

This scent FEELS like it’s supposed to be nice. But there’s just something that is not quite right about it. Theres a sort of syrupy-ness, which I think is coming from the pear, that really just makes this feel... uncomfortable in a way.. unfortunately, as it develops, it just gets worse. Theres something about it that smells like those car scent refreshers (the tree shaped ones) specifically, the vanilla scented one that is just not comfortable to the nose..

Cheap shampoo is more accurate.i will give it points for projection and longevity but even then it kind of grosses me out. Feels like something a skid row rent-a-girl would wear if you get my drift. There’s something about it that is just kind of skeezy. I would never go to Las Vegas but I feel like the women there would wear smth like this

Perfume politics aside, I still really want to get my nose on this. If it smells anything like Tom Ford’s Rose D’Almalfi, I’m in trouble—because I absolutely love that fragrance. Just patiently waiting for it to arrive in Canada...🫩

I can never resist a free sample, even though this is for the ladies and I am big guy. Ladies, please do not ever consider buying this. Holy hell, it STINKS. I have smelled hundreds of fragrances and this is one of the absolute worst ones. I wish I could agree with this smelling like generic rose but to me it smells like something chemically twisted. Like an evil scientist decided to twist and mangle its dna in a secret lab. The amber and honey did something really bad to that rose. It's heinous. And even a third rinse with dishwashing liquid does not get the double spray off the back of my hand. Horrid.

This is nasty, again that sharp Amber that overrules all the other ingredients. Nowadays 8 out of 10 have that sharpness I cannot handle. As often as I was my hands, I cannot get rid of it. This brand new perfume makes me want to wash it of and it sticks on the skin. Horrible. Although Amber is not visual in the list of ingredients, it's the only thing I smell. Like Kirkè, yuk...

The rose in this does remind me Chloé EDP, but here it's accented with a bit of fruitiness & spice. I don't mind it, but I unfortunately agree with the sentiment that this feels quite boring & generic. This absolutely isn't worth the La Privée pricing. Heck, there are better Miss Dior flankers if you really want a rose fragrance from Dior

Francis Kurkdjian is destroying Dior right now. I think he must leave immediately. Rosa star is a DELINA DE MARLEY but in another bottle. Nothing new even in the previous perfume bios talisman. 👎🏽

When is it going to be launched in the UK (Harrods)? I love MFK's creations in MDCI parfums and Guerlain (Rose Barbare) but not Dior nor his own brand. But, I'm still curious.

Roses Musk is a masterpiece compared to this monstrosity. Truly one of the worst things I have ever smelled, and this included Kirke and Erba Pura.

Booooorrring🥱 Bring back Demachy

Francis Kurkdjian has done it again! Produced a completely underwhelming dud not worthy of the hallowed Dior name. This is weak & unoriginal. You can get better rose fragrances that last all day with rose perfumes sold at middle eastern bazaars for less than 20 bucks. The spicy freshness in the open is so fleeting, it’s all gone by the time you walk out of your room. And you are left with a very light rose, that’s fairly generic and does not command attention. Between and hour and an hour and half from initial application, it’s a skin scent on me, and not a strong one at that. I’ve honestly had rose scented moisturizers that project just as well if not better. In my opinion, as far as rose fragrances go, you’d do much better with Frederick Malle’s magnificent ‘Rose Tonerre’ by Edouard Fléchier, or the delicious inky rose of Amouage’s ‘Opus XII -Rose Incense’. The other issue I have with this release is the question of why? Dior already has an airy light rose in this collection in the form of Rose Kabuki, which even in its lightness, way out-performs Rose Star. So is this utterly average release even necessary? It’s not bad if course. It’s just... boring; unoriginal; done to death. Kurkdjian seems quite determined to kill Dior’s hitherto dominance in luxury fragrance. It’s tragic that Dior themselves are just alowing him to. I was gifted a review sample in conjuction with the Middle East Exclusive launch. If I had to pay for it it would be a hard hard pass.

Oh dear. . So, i felt lucky to have found a new sealed bottle on ebay, ahead of it being available in UK. Blind buying is always ones own risk and fault but i did it anyway. So on first spray, i was relieved to smell a dark fruity Rose with a something waxy and bold. It reminded me of other things but couldn't quite decide what. . Only about 10 minutes it quite literally became a cashmeran bomb. Now I'm sensitive to that material/ note so obviously that could be objective. But it quickly reminded me of perfumes like Possibilities from La Perla, and La fetish Rose from Christian Louboutin. Definitely in that wheelhouse. It smelt cheap. . Sorry. Cheap aromachemicals blocking my nasal passage and not allowing anything half decent to come through . . Which to be honest is what many designer fragrances do due to their budget and demand for loud mass appealing character. It's literally that for me. Obviously extremely disappointed, i suspect the attractive colourant of the liquid and the friendly cute name was needed as a selling point. . Anyway, hope others have better luck with Rose Star

Francis Kurkdjian is known (or, should I say, notorious) for recycling his old ideas for new products, and Rose Star is the latest example of that practice. As soon as I saw the bottle and the list of notes, I thought to myself: 'Oh, I bet he's gonna borrow from his own Indult Manakara here!' - Guess what, I wasn't wrong! This one does resemble Manakara quite a bit. Although the listed notes are different (nominally Manakara contains lychee and the candied berry accord, whereas here we have pear, lemon and honey), the overall olfactory experience is very similar - a sweet, fluffy, yet uplifting rose, fit for a sugar plum fairy! I own and love Manakara (and I use it quite sparingly, as it is very strong, so a 50ml bottle will last me until I retire); so, to me, Rose Star is completely redundant and unoriginal. But I'm sure that many Dior fans have never heard of the brand Indult, and they will devour Rose Star with gusto! Projection and longevity are excellent, which sort of justifies the very steep price.

I'm glad to see that people agree, it's time for Dior to move their chess pieces around, FK is going to destroy this house to put his own on a pedestal, he will probably also find a way to use Diors exclusively farmed raw materials in his own work, as that's what's sets Dior fragrances apart, the quality and rarity of the ingredients they source around the world. Haven't smelt rose star, and I don't want to. I haven't rated this. Just leaving it as a comment on the thread. Bois talisman was terrible... It was like you turnt up the base notes of swy, sucked the herbal and camphorous facets out of it and replaced it with more smoke. It STAINED the tester card in store... Don't put so much colour in your fakerances, add real vanilla in bulk since it's the most valuable ingredient in Bois talisman, then it will darken without staining, just a suggestion.
