If perfumery is the art of bottling memories, Diptyque with Do Son Eau de Parfum has created one of its most fascinating time machines. Launched in 2013 and signed by the nose Fabrice Pellegrin, this unisex fragrance is a tribute to the childhood memories of Yves Coueslant (one of the founders of the maison) in the seaside resort of Do Son, in the bay of the same name in Vietnam. Do Son is, in no uncertain terms, a triumph of tuberose, but forget the shouty, opulent or "strong" declinations that this flower often dresses us in. Here the tuberose is fresh, bathed in dew and caressed by the sea breeze. The scent is revealed with the green and slightly bitter freshness of orange leaf, immediately enlivened by a sparkling touch of pink pepper. This is from a recent repurchase as I'd been out of it for a few years. I questioned the purchase as there's so much new to try, only so much money available, and though I'd loved it before, I wondered would it be as interesting or appealing or would it feel like just revisiting old ground. I also bought it in packaging Diptyque hasn't used in a few years and wondered about its age and integrity. Happily it's the same beau airy tuberose as ever. Heavenly. It presents the delightful natural sweetness of the flower in a fresh airy manner while still being noticeable and unmistakable. A green and vital tuberose. It is the nectarous release of spring’s first blooms. It is the smell of summer, particularly evenings, when only then does the shy tuberose favor to releases its essence. Cool and refreshing without mints, camphors. Delicate yet deliberate. It is all the delights the Northern hemisphere has to offer in her warmer months. It is April May June and July. Wearing this elevates everything. It will lighten your step, change your perspective. On the surface it may seem a scent for the breezier events of spring's and summer's days: luncheons and showers for babies and brides. But it is also the scent of balmy summer nights, the perfect osmotic backdrop for the shy and playful fumblings that precede so many romantic encounters. And in what may seem an about face, I suggest it as a pairing for some of our darker moments as well. Wear it in grief. Wear it to a funeral. We attend these pageants in search of relief, to find sense in the senseless, order in the chaos. Even crowding the events with live floral displays. Do Son, in its sweet cool serenity, is perfectly at home at such events. Bright, verdant, elegant, balanced with poise between utter sophistication & uncomplicated innocence—both lady & ingenue, with a delightfully teasing awareness of its duality; this being one of the main allures of white florals, especially tuberose: that delicate ability to toe the line between fresh faced simplicity & lush glamour. Do Son’s bouquet rests, to my nose, closer to the side of simplicity, but with an undeniable refinement that makes one think of knowing glances beneath long lashes, cheeks flushed with sun, hair lifting from bare shoulders on a passing breeze. Its attitude is infectiously self-assured but delightfully unfussy, straightforward & unabashed, with none of the heavy powder or butteriness that some white florals are burdened with; Do Son floats & dances, swells & cocoons, like the seaside breezes that swathe its namesake. There was a time when this perfume intimidated me with its straightforwardness & I shied from its bright conviction, but came to sniff the brilliant spirit that emanated from the bottle with hope for my future courage. I now find this scent utterly easy, comforting, encouraging with its green mantle of unflinching sunshine; I smell its vivid radiance shimmer from a scarf or the collar of a shirt & feel a bright shield of beauty close over me in benediction, warding off all frost on heart or heath. In the cold, Do Son radiates with summer’s inevitable resplendence, & in the heat, it blooms unfettered wreathing the wearer in green & white sweetness. There is something hopeful in this fragrance, something dogged & addictive in its simple insistence on beauty, living in the folds of clothing & the creases of skin & the heavy loops of hair like an echo of summer, a living promise of light & greenness & goodness yet to come.

my friend spent her birthday in qatar and was given a tester of do son. she didn't like it, but felt like it would be something up my alley. over a lovely meal of sushi and mocktails, she handed me the most life-changing perfume i'd ever be gifted. instantly upon spraying it on my wrist, i was transported to somewhere familiar. like i know this smell, i've smelled it before. it was almost nostalgic. but i couldn't remember the scent, it was on the tip of my tongue. i spent the whole weekend wondering where i recognize this scent from, and still to this day i haven't figured out how awfully familiar this feels. do son is, to me, the best oriental floral i've ever experienced. its fresh but warm, a beautiful floral musk to add to my collection. but she stands out. she is an incredibly lofty white floral with this serene energy. i purchased the full size bottle and found myself spraying it everywhere, perhaps trying to chase that nostalgia. it's a hug in a bottle and i adore it endlessly. so proud to call this my signature scent. i love do son, im crazy about her. olene by diptyque is another fragrance i tried with do son that pairs so nicely and adds more of a femme touch to do son, which is to me a very safe unisex. one word: heavenly. i love getting complimented on do son, it doesn't feel like a grandma white floral at all. but it is not a girly floral whatsoever but thats what i like about it. feminine with pink pepper but standing a ground with the musk and orange flower accords. 46/10 for me. i can't even begin to tell you how gobsmacked i am by do son. it is worth every penny for the full size. make sure to compare the EDT and EDP before purchasing since the notes differ.

coming from a Vietnamese family, it was always written in the stars of my upbringing that particular scents will come to initiate particular memories of youth. however, Do Son brings me into versions of my past with which i was hitherto unfamiliar: the motherland of my bloodline itself. ostensibly, this scent is simple: tuberose and jasmine flowers with a touch of all things that make such floral bouquets complicated, including a hidden animalic nature, a green quality, an incense-like smokiness, and an indolic creaminess. however, unlike other fragrances–which seek to add complexity to these florals–Do Son presents them in their naturalistic reality in a way that transports its benefactor into its gardens of origin. this is among the first floral perfumes i have ever experienced that, without reservation, wears its relation to mother nature herself on its sleeve with pride. and, in the best of ways, this is what makes it so accessible to myself and everyone around me who loves it. by wearing it, i have effectively adorned myself not with a synthetic fragrance which seeks to substitute the sensations of the flower–even though that is exactly what i am doing–but with the flower itself. with Do Son on, i am in a vintage ensemble with a gardenia pinned into my lapel. the smell of a flower may be singular, but it is also a source of memory. such sentimentality–it is the best bad habit i've ever inherited.

Once upon a time this tuberose-obsessed white florals addict used to hate tuberose. How I transformed from a hater to a lover - I’ve no idea; it just happened. I’m still averse to very sweet tuberose fragrances - I prefer the flower to be as leafy and fresh as possible. Diptyque Do Son EDP is one of the best tuberose fragrances I have ever tried. It is sexier than Carnal Flower, fresher than Fracas, less juvenile than Gucci Bloom and more charming than Twilly. If I should compare it to other tuberose soliflores, it is similar to Nasomatto Narcotic Venus, but fortunately it lacks that artificially sweet chewing gum scent that makes it impossible to me to truly adore Narcotic Venus. As to another similar scent, Le Beau Parfum by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, again I prefer Do Son. What bothers me in Le Beau Parfum is the drydown, when this beautiful tuberose suddenly morphs into something sour and totally unfeminine. In contrast, Do Son doesn’t change much (if at all) throughout its skin life, which is a good thing in this case! Its longevity is outstanding (10+ hours) and projection strong enough to make it an office-unfriendly white floral heaven (or hell, depending on one’s preferences). I’ve already sold my bottle of Gucci Bloom and I’m thinking of selling my Twilly as well and buying Do Son EDP instead - I love it that much.

I have been searching high and low in the Philippines for the perfect funeral scent. What I mean by that is I wanted a scent that would go well with gothy outfits (and during exams, as a teacher) that would put people off for a reason they could not understand... after all, here and in many places white florals are very funeral-esque. I wanted Demeter’s aptly named funeral home, but I had just about given up on finding it or anything like it... until on a trip to Manila I dropped by Diptyque and smelled this. I have been chasing the Do Son high ever since. It is gorgeous and blindingly white, only short of lilies to create that funeral-wreath scent I was so intent on creating. When I finally bought it, I would wait to see if people knew what I was trying to achieve... sadly, it was nothing but compliments all around. Only a few people would understand the cemetery-core aesthetic I was trying to perpetuate, so if you are buying or not buying this scent for similar death-related reasons, be warned/reassured that this is a gorgeous scent that catches compliments and leaves people charmed, and haunted only by rich tuberose, faint white musk, and the suggestion of jasmines and fragrant leaves in a garden.

I thought I was going to love that taking into account tuberose is one of my favourite notes in perfumes. But it is just a like. I have not tried the EDT and now I think I may like it better. This one is nice, very similar to Gucci's Bloom but creamier, more grown up. This is a very realistic tuberose, carnal, green and deep. And also I detect something more subtle that adds a savory vibe, like a rice note (despite not being listed). It is quite nice but turns too deep and sweet for me. Maybe in a few years I will like it more,for now is just ok and I don't need it in my collection since I have other tuberose perfumes that fit me better. But definitely a very good perfume for those looking for a more grown-up tuberose scent. Green, creamy, sweet and savory: carnal realistic tuberose with a hint of honey and a hint of rice. EDIT: Turns out it was not a matter of years but seasons. It was a little too sweet in summer, but it is perfect in winter. I take my words back: this is like a cashmere floral hug.

I am in love with this perfume even though is incredible simple. Tuberose and several white flowers. It mentions jasmine but honestly I don't get much of its smell. Instead I get cala lily... I do have cala lilies, and it smells like there is a piramid of tuberose, cala lilies and jasmine in my opinion. I might be wrong. The green aspect is felt at first spray. Mixed with the soft touch of musk gives the fragrance a pretty evolution revealing a well constructed, balanced fragrance once it starts to settle. Pink pepper is there to warm the composition a little at the end and reduce the green profile from the beginning. Longevity 5/10 Sillage 6/10 Daytime I wear it all year long. Office friendly if you apply it 1h/2h before going to the office as I do. Projection will settle over time on skin, becoming skin scent. If applied on clothes, the fragrance won't evolve as on skin and might project strongly without the wearer knowing about it due to olfactory fatigue (normal) after a few hours.

For several months I had been plotting to drop subtle hints that I would like to receive Philosykos as a Christmas present from my family, but a week before Christmas, changed my mind when sniffing my way through the Diptyque store (looking for a fragrance for my brother, we are a family of sniffers). I fell in Love with Do Son (though I still yearn for Philosykos, but I am not rich). Our love has been complicated since then. I caught on to some.. fecal element in the composition after a couple of wears. I wish the jasmine would stay longer. I wish it smelled as delicious on me as it does on paper. I wish it had the same underlying salty note as the edt. And yet I am addicted. I miss it on days when I wear something else. I arrange walks so that I have a reason to spray it on the back of my neck and be kissed by a bubblegum chewing tuberose every time I turn my head. It’s complicated, but it’s love.

This is a very unique fragrance that is so different from anything else I have smelled before - it is very floral, sweet but pungent and sharp/dirty without feeling synthetic or artificial. It is a very pleasant scent - both tuberose and jasmine work together effortlessly. Maybe another way to say it would be that the scent feels alive. It has a character and personality. Absolutely love it. I am a male and never liked perfume, but I fell in love with florals and this one is so special, even better (to me) than Bali in a Bottle which also follows a similar route of sharp white florals. I think the potency can get a bit heady (for you and others) - so around three sprays feels like a good middle ground to really enjoy it yourself but also to let others smell it on you. 🤗🌸❤️

Do Son is my favorite fragrance, therefore I have tried both versions. While the EDT comes out straight white floral and brings a fruity tuberose along the fragrance, the EDP concentration accentuates the green and musky aspect of the fragrance. The musk is present and you can identify it easily and it has a “rice” aspect, to me the musk reminds me the starch of unwashed rice along with the little spiciness from the pink pepper, the tuberose here is more light and fresh not as strong as in the EDT. I would use the EDT for spring and summer and the EDP for a colder weather. The EDP is more elegant and classic, projects a strong radio and has a good longevity over 7 hours on skin and clothes.

Wow truly a beautiful white floral scent! The jasmine is sweet, not at all in a gourmand way but in a sweet natural flower way. You can smell so many florals but also pick up on each flower individually. The tuberose is REAL, as in a lot but also an in a real smelling true tuberose that smells like you just picked the flower and rubbed it on you. There is some orange blossom it smells like as well, I don’t smell a lot of greenery in this and the pink pepper is very subtle to give it a small edge. This scent is a floral dream that also smells like a clean slightly powdery scent. I definitely recommend smelling it for yourself! Next I would like to try smelling the EDT of this too!

I have to say I absolutely love this lily scent. It's like a crayon with a lily fragrance. I happened to pass by a female colleague wearing this scent once. I asked her about it and was surprised it was Doson, even though I had tried Doson and Tamdao a year earlier but wasn't as impressed as this time. I decided to buy a 10ml sample to try it out, and it was indeed a wonderfully light and refreshing feeling. My perfume vibe has always been towards strong, long-lasting scents with oud or vanilla. But Doson is perhaps an exception for me. I feel very relaxed and love it every time I wear Doson. I feel very confident using Doson without any embarrassment because I am a romantic man.

You never forget your first love, and for me, this was my first Diptyque crush. I absolutely love Do Son EDP's scent. I have the lotion and the hair perfume to envelope myself in the tuberose/white floral gorgeousness. This bottle led me to purchase Philsosykos (a delicious fig!), Orpheon (a more unisex and interesting fragrance that I use for layering), Eau Rose (amazing rose scent), and Ilio (perfect for summer). I will repurchase this immediately once it's gone. That's how amazing it is. Please try it for yourself against the EDT to see which one you prefer. I have EDT in every other scent except Orpheon.

normally i am not a floral person- i find them too powdery, too cloying. luckily tuberose is a floral i can trust to be refreshing and more... tangy, i guess? anyways, do son perfectly answers the question of “what perfume should i reach for when i’m not particularly in the mood for anything?” it is best in the spring/summer months and during daytime, but could easily stretch into an early evening spent sipping aperol spritz poolside. do son is definitely on the feminine side- feminine like a pair of linen pants or white wine- meaning a man could also rock it if he’s comfortable in himself. 9/10 fragrance.

There’s something so effortlessly pretty about this fragrance 🤍 The tuberose here is soft and airy rather than heavy or overwhelming 🌬️ It’s almost like fresh white petals touched by a warm breeze, wrapped in clean musk with a subtle green touch from the orange leaf that keeps everything feeling elegant and light It reminds me of a slow summer afternoon near the sea, warm sunlight on white linen, and a soft breeze coming through an open window carrying the scent of white flowers from a nearby garden. I’m so in love with this bottle. This is the most realistic and natural tuberose that I know. It doesn’t smell like other white flower perfumes which tend to be overpowering. The main note is surely tuberose and I also notice jasmine in it. The other notes can be noticed only when you pay close attention. Tuberose are not to be planted at home in my country for they are used in funerals. So this scent always connects me to a peaceful silence with emerging sounds of meditation bells of buddhist temples. It always makes me feel calm, comfortable and concentrated.

My newest love. Do Son Eau de Parfum completely surprised me. It's one of the most beautiful interpretations of tuberose I've ever experienced; creamy, airy, and luminous without being overwhelming. There's something incredibly elegant and calming about it. It feels like a gentle sea breeze carrying the scent of white flowers on a warm evening. Delicate yet memorable, sophisticated yet comforting. The more I wear it, the more I fall in love with its effortless beauty. A fragrance that proves subtlety can be absolutely captivating.

Gorgeous and super interesting tuberose. It feels more like a linear scent but it's actually complex and distinctly uniform: this tuberose is sweet, green, balsamic, floral, dewy, sometimes light and airy, sometimes heavy and musky. It just smells one of a kind. It would start projecting more in the heat when going from indoors to outdoors. Could still smell it on my skin the next morning despite being in the summer heat all day so go light because it is potent, it feels best in the air. Perfect spring white floral.

This scent is really strong and long lasting. Straight forward tuberose, white flower. I love the musky dry down. Only 2 spritz is good enough for the whole day. Do Son reminded me of an evening visiting Catholic church in district 3, Vietnam with my parents. Tuberose is well used in most temples, pagodas even churches here as offering flowers and decorations. Combining Do Son (offereing flower) and Tam Dao (pagodas woods), you will have the ultimate Buddhist experience. The marketing/ story telling is on point. Lol

If you hate florals, stay away from this scent. I had to stop by the Dyptique boutique in my city after knowing the fragrance house made two scents inspired by my Vietnamese culture. I smelled both Do Son and Tam Dao - both smelled good but eventually, I decided on Do Son because I needed a good floral fragrance (I'm surrounded by mostly gourmands.) It's not the type of perfume to spray generously. One/two spritz is good for the delicious scent to subtly waver in the air around you.

Absolutely stunning tuberose and jasmine on clothes and skin. Longer lasting on clothes, will catch whiffs of it next day collecting laundry. Fresh, light, and very well blended. The notes play well together, not too simple or one-dimensional, but not too complicated where everything clashes, either. No synthetic notes detected by me, but it also does not project very far despite lasting alright. Heat helps. For me, it delivers everything it's trying to, including the sea breeze.

I received a sample of this yesterday and I'm in love. So elegant, soft, feminine scent suitable for all weathers and all occasions. Not overpowering, on me it stays close to the skin and I get heavenly whiffs of fresh tuberose, jasmin and something aromatic. I don't have much experience with tuberose, I've tried Perris Monte Carlo Tuberose Absolue, and that was too much for me, but this is a much lighter, more wearable version of the flower. Straight to my wish list.

Beautiful tuberose scent, smells like an exotic, creamy, delicate floral - like you took the most luxurious shower in a lush, tropical green forest right next to the beach. It's addictive. I found myself going back to smell it both on my skin and on the test strip after my initial use. It was an easy buy and quickly found it's way into my regular rotation. Lovely by itself or layered with a warmer scent - I paired it with Phlur's Missing Person and it was incredible.

my favorite tuberose ever. will have her on my shelf forever <3 i wear her in every season. intoxicating, and beautifully indolic....a little indole in a fragrance is what makes it so mysterious and addictive, to me at least. but its a total love/hate situation for people. tuberose/white florals are not for everyone. so if you've never tried a pure white floral like this, test first! also, i find the EDP 1000x better than the EDT and hair mist in terms of scent.

I want to scream at the top of my lungs I LOVE TUBEROSE. I think I've enjoyed every tuberose scent I've smelled. That being said I have enough that smell similar to this beauty that I don't need to buy her. I'd say definitely safe blind by if you are a tuberose fan! ♡ - I have Tokyo Milk La Vie La Mort and they smell very similar! Both have that samd dry cold tuberose, not a juicy super sweet one. A very good budget option instead of Diptyque.

tuberose masterpiece! presents itself as a closed, green, and camphorous bud of the flower, that slowly warms up and opens in bloom to become creamy and floraly-sweet (not lactonic). reminds me of sampaguita (jasmine sambac) adorned churches and bright green, dewy leaves on trees. i have yet to smell carnal flower and fracas (it is lowkey my dream to but it is hard to find in the PH) but to my nose, this made me fall in love with tuberose

At first this didn’t really stand out to me so much. The florals were nice, but nothing worth really ‘looking forward to’ in a sense. However, after testing this on my skin, I found it to (after about 3 hours) develop a gorgeous deep, woody almost leathery musk, which I certainly was not expecting. The EDP certainly has a hidden depth which the EDT does not, and I for this reason have fallen in love with its profile.

A very simple, but simply beautiful scent with Diptyque's amazing blending. To me it's quite a linear scent which I'm not really into but I can't help it with this one, I fell in love with her. It's intoxicating and sensual, I can't help it but everytime I wear it I feel like I'm in a white silk dress barefoot next to a pond in an airy but bit damp valley with lilies around me. 10/10.

it’s summertime you’re returning from the beach, sun is about the set and you walk past a wall covered with honeysuckles. this smells exactly like this on me. i don’t know why but all i get is honeysuckle. rich, nectary, mouthwatering and intoxicating honeysuckles. luckily i looove honeysuckle so i think i will use this with pleasure. also did i mentioned how mind blowing this is?

A very nice tuberose and jasmine floral scent that somehow my nose doesn't get tired of.. most white florals scents seem to be headache-inducing to me, but this one is always "fresh" to my nose. Lovely and extremely elegant.. an aristocratic lady reclining on lightly chilled silk sheets in her daybed while the floral scents of the garden outside waft in through the window.

Creamy, marine tuberose. There is a green facet in the opening that reminds me of underripe plantain in the best way possible. Development is minimal, but the dry down becomes a beautiful, peppery musk. Probably the most sensuous daytime fragrance that could be worn. She is generous, enveloping & grounding. Perfect for the boardroom, yacht & the dancefloor

I sprayed this on myself in a Diptyque store, and it is just what I've been looking for ever since I accidentally dropped and broke a travel spray of discontinued Michael Kors perfume that smelled like tuberose. I sprayed one spritz on my shirt, and the scent keeps gently wafting up to my nose 4 hours later. I am curious to see how much longer it'll last.

Absolutely gorgeous! Smooth and well blended. I smelled it on a man and couldn’t let it go without asking what it was. I have both the EDP and EDT. The EDP lasts longer, while the EDT is lighter and greener. I honestly enjoy both depending on the mood. Fleurs d’Oranger by Serge Lutens sits in a similar space, but the cumin note throws it off for me.

genuinely shocked me how much i adore this. pink pepper is quickly becoming one of my favorite notes, and it adds a really nice honeysuckle-esque quality to this. it blew me away in the store, as well as the experience of having brittany broski enter diptyque at the same time as me and say this is also her favorite fragrance of theirs

This is one of my favorite perfumes. It’s a gorgeous, smooth white floral. The floral accord floats over a clean, watery base and a sensual musk note. I’ve read that others interpret this as a daytime spring scent. To me, this is a very sexy summer evening perfume. It is beautiful and elegant making it perfect for a date.

I’ve been using this for years and I still can’t get enough of it... it’s so simple, yet so beautiful. Soft tuberose, white florals, and a touch of jasmine/lily clean, airy, and feminine, with a fresh, slightly dewy feel. I do wish it had a bit more strength, but it’s perfect for everyday, especially daytime or office.

At first, it's like walking into your local flower shop and then you find yourself looking for which bouquet smells this good... When I picture elegance, this is it. The longevity is surprisingly great for a diptyque fragrance. And everytime I wear it, I feel uplifted. I have finally found my signature scent.

This is a fragrance of delicate nuances. If you aren't focusing on appreciating the fragrance you might just catch the tuberose. There's a playful hint of orange mingling with an almost, but not quite spicy pink pepper note that could almost be mistaken for rose. I love it. It's a very simple masterpiece.

One of the most beautiful tuberoses, it smells very modern and clean and I would consider it a creamy green floral. Despite being quite linear, this perfume made me fall in love with tuberose and white florals. Maybe unpopular opinion, but I've worn it all year round and I liked it the most during winter

really strong floral perfume. i personally love this but my mother hates it saying that it gives her a headache. i didnt even know this possible w a floral perfume 😔 guess she doesn't like tuberose. but i absolutely love this perfume. i think it suits spring really well. would purchase again

This is beautiful. I can only smell the tuberose and occasionally I can detect the orange leaf (I think). It reminds me so much of gucci bloom. It's like walking outside on a summer night. It lasts forever on my skin, i love catching whiffs of it during the day.

This one converted me to a tuberose lover and I used to think white florals were not my thing. It’s beautiful, chic, elegant, gives me amazing seaside summer vacation feeling. I used up two travel sizes and finally got my hands on a FB! The stuff is enigmatic.

there's a lot to unbox, but it's beautiful. spicy, clean, floral, earthy, warm, beachy, all at once. you can really sense the pink pepper at first, but it dries down into a nice floral and musky scent. very feminine and elegant.

used to be my daily driver, one of some that starts my perfume collection <3 definitely the perfume that made me love white florals note. replaced with hint’s noble edp because it costs 1/12 of do son’s price lol

Ok sure, the notes SAY tuberose, and I can smell it there too. But what this perfume as a whole is screaming is JASMINE. It smells just like the jasmine trees that scented the night air while I was in Vietnam.
