Do Son Eau de Toilette

After a while of owning both the edt and edp, i must say i love the edt much much more. This is by no means a realistic tuberose, and the edp comes even less close to that. But the jasmine in here, especially in the sillage when you dont go to your arm to sniff it willingly, is so so beautiful and real and alive. Perfectly animalic; core part of the notes instead of a seperate addition. Its quite simple and thats what i like about it. I can appreciate complex perfumery but creating simple things that smell good and compelling are just as difficult to create. I call it simple for its not multi faceted and quite linear. Jasmine and tuberose are multi faceted as they are, however. Which means i really do prefer them to be more solifloral and not an addition to/aspect of a fragrance. I love this over the edp because the performance is rather similar yet this one smells more photorealistic (as in, creates an image and atmosphere of a place you have been to before. Not a photorealistic tuberose) while the edp doesnt. The edp smells more like the tropical warm sunny aspects of tuberose with a sliiiight hint of green that is by no means bitter, camphorous or chlorophyll like. This smells like walking past white flowers blooming at night. I say white flowers because truly, this could be considered any white floral. If you have only smelled honeysuckles in your life, this may just be a honeysuckle perfume. It does have that certain nectary dewiness honeysuckles have. I kind of overmention this in all my reviews but i am into gardening and flowers and plants in general. Which means i am very familiar with plants in real life and also what their scent is like, and since the jasmine and tuberose flowers ive smelled (both smell extremely different by the way) are both so complex and interesting , i cant help but crave that in my perfume. No, essential oils wont do. And neither do absolutes. Flower oils/materials smell different when extracted compared to how the actual flowers and the areas around them smell. Diptyque does a good job at KIND of bottling the air around a jasmine vine in a small Mediterranean town at night. Tuberose? Not quite. But thats okay. I love both equally. This is just not skanky and hreen enough to be realistic. Fine i’ll stop mentioning that. Its a great perfume but only for jasmine/heady white floral lovers. Otherwise it might fall too flat or be too simple. Its not a perfumey perfume. Its a faux soliflore in a way. DEFINITELY no iris or pink pepper present. Performance is alright, perfect for the hottest days and nights of summer, 8.4/10 for me

Full bodied, delicious, milky and realistic. Its an amazing fragrance. Its nothing ground breaking, but thats not important when you’re working with such a wonderful fragrance. If diptyque can do one thing right, its making fragrances feel whole without being heavy. Every one of their scents feels ‘full’ without being cloying or overpowering. Its extremely realistic, and its just amazing. Its a grandma fragrance, dont get me wrong. But thats exactly the type of perfumery im into.. it just smells well experienced and mature. Im a guy and i admit its feminine leaning, but ive gotten tons of compliments from wearing this and i definitely believe men can pull this off. Its white floral, but instead of just focusing on the essence it focuses on the whole plant and the air around that plant. Its like walking past a bunch of tuberose and jasmine on a warm sunny day. Flowers dont smell the same when you put your nose close to them, so this is a perfect trait in my opinion. The sillage is surprisingly good. Whenever i spray this around my neck (3 times), i get wafts of it all throughout the day. When i spray it on my wrist, it disappears rather quickly. I believe you can get anosmic to this really easily if you keep smelling it voluntarily. I think this is why people are rating its longevity and sillage low, but i think thats perfect. It never overstays its welcome, you wont bother people by smelling like this. And this is an edt! Ive noticed my skin handles edts much better than edps, since all of my supposedly long lasting edps disappear very soon. Its also not that warm where i live (10 degrees celsius mostly) so i’m excited for how it will project in warm weather Compared to the edp, this is more effervescent and airy. It smells like tuberose carried by the wind. I dont really get much from the other notes, but i dont need to when the tuberose here already has a lot of nuances (milky, green, indolic, clean, light, sticky). This scent leaves nothing to be desired for me and its yet another amazing fragrance from probably my favorite house. The price is also very fitting imo, it smells way more natural than other expensive tuberoses ive smelled (which have a synthetic scratchy vibe to them). Definitely sample this by wearing this throughout the day, dont just sample it on paper or on your hand.

I do think that, apart from the reaction with ourselves, how a fragrance performs also has a lot to do with the season and the air. I live in Australia in an area where the air is generally very dry, and now that it's summer, wow I'm really enjoying Do Son again. It really blooms and shows its beauty during summer here. Do Son is currently one of my favourite perfumes for summer, so I brought my bottle with me to France this summer, during the French summer that is, and I somehow didn't enjoy wearing it at all while I was in France. Somehow Do Son just did not shine there. I rarely enjoy it during winter either, it makes me feel "cold". Anyway, so how does Do Son smell to me in my Australian summer? The tuberose is the star! Tuberose predominantly, with a few other flowers, with some green stems, in plenty of water. It is dewy, and the tuberose has a slightly rubbery sensation to it. I once gifted a friend with a bunch of flowers, including tuberose in the bouquet, and she put it in a vase in the middle of the dinner table during out dinner. The smell was truly beautiful, and reminded me of Do Son, only Do Son is perhaps slightly dewier. I've read of many comparisons of Do Son with Gucci Bloom and FM Carnal Flower. I think the opening may be similar to Gucci Bloom with Bloom being a thinner scent, but soon afterwards Gucci Bloom morphs into something synthetic and disgusting on my skin. Do Son performs beautifully on my skin throughout its wear. As for similarities with Carnal Flower, I don't find them similar apart from the fact that they are both based on tuberose and white flowers. I find Carnal Flower more show-off-y, glamorous and wanting to impress, while Do Son is meant more as an enjoyment for yourself, which is something Diptyque usually manages to do outstandingly.

Let me start off by saying that the EdT and the EdP of "Do Son" are from different planets to my nose (and on my skin). Also I need to say that while I like them both, I am so intrigued by Do Son EdP that it haunts me at night! (you all know what I mean! the perfume junkie-way of thinking; when you can't stop thinking about the scent as it's the last thing on your mind before you fall asleep and the first thing you think about when you wake up because you're so obsessed that you can't rest until you get your hands on a bottle and finally add it to your collection? ;) Yeah... that's where I am right now. I am "Do Son'ed". From the first time I smelled the cap of the EdP I was smitten! It was OH so delightful and creamy tuberose, but not only that - I swear I could smell sort of a green vanilla with a hint of the warmth from frangipani or coconut luring in the background (but I know that it must be the white musk blended with the tuberose and benzoin that give me that sweet creamy and warm sensation). I have been obsessing over "Do Son" EdP for 3 days straight now, so I think I have come to the conclusion that I need me a full bottle. The drydown is heavenly with light and airy benzoin and musk, so precious! I think it was the drydown that really got me hooked. I want to add that I do get the resemblance to Michael Kors Michael, but mostly with the EDT. The EDT is lovely as well but it's a much greener, lighter and fresher tuberose (not so much benzoin and warmth to it). Since I already own Michael Kors "Michael" I won't be purchasing the EDT of "Do Son" - but OH BOY the EDP: wait for me because I'm coming for you! <3 Long lasting and perfect for Summer!

The thought of wearing this alone makes me want to be a better person - calmer, more patient, more put together. It makes me want to iron my shirt and blow dry my hair. Read the email again before hitting send. Go buy the good tomatoes and bread. I never thought I'd be such a fan of very in-your-face floral scents, I expected myself to go for masculine-leaning unisex fragrances as I do with my clothes. And yet I run to get a full bottle after a day of sampling this (I am also strongly considering getting the jasmine on jasmine on jasmine Olene). The orange blossom especially is what makes me love this. It is sticky and suffocating, but only at first. Within 30 minutes it becomes sunny, intoxicating, feel-good. I tend to get migraines easily and expected to get one from wearing this but nothing of the sort! Wearing this on a very hot day was not the best choice, it felt out of place, but I think it will make my day in the grayest grays of January. I can't decide if it's old fashioned or classic. I'm fine with either. It has some projection, I get whiffs of the scent at random throughout the day. On skin this lasts maybe 6 hours but seemingly forever on clothing.
