Woody Sage

so far I love this perfume! I don't know if I agree with the first note being fruity - I get a slight fruit note from the opening but overall it is mostly aromatic and woody, smelling pretty much exactly like Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt but with much better performance and longevity. it's not really fig-forward to me like Diptyque's Philosykos but fades into the same kind of aromatic wood base with a soapy figness in this distance. i don't know if it's my body chemistry, the bottle i got, or both but it performs so much better than Jo Malone on me as well as other dupes like Finer'ys Before the Rainbow, both of which I could barely smell after 30 minutes (no exaggeration). i saw Wood Sage and Sea Salt mentioned in a couple different posts as suggestions for a good bedtime fragrance, as a lot of people enjoy that the scent smells spa-like. for me, I am more of a fan of the skin-scent this perfume fades to after and hour or two than the initial spray, and the faded scent is more comforting to me. with that in mind, I like using it as a bedtime scent, but usually spray in the evening rather than right before bed as the grapefruit opening has a bit of sharpness that takes some time to wear off. i like using this as a bedtime scent more than Jo Malone since the Jo Malone I can't really smell on myself very well, which makes it feel pointless to use for aromatherapy.

Now how did they DO that? As a die hard fan of Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt who is on his 4th bottle due to its weak performance, I am thrilled to have found this! This is an excellent dupe. First spray is almost the exact same as JM’s, then on my skin it starts off somewhat more citrus-y/sweeter but settles into a very similar dry down — and the performance is better. Now, with these kind of notes it’s probably never going to be beast mode and sit close to the skin quickly, but it does stay on the skin. I’m on hour 6 of a single spray and I can still smell if I put my nose to my wrist (would not happen with the original). I think JM’s version is a tad heavier on sage and all in all smells more refined, but that’s nitpicking at this price point. I’m supper happy and will definitely enjoy using both JM (which I always have to douse myself in and carry a small decant) and this one this summer. Very impressed with Dossier!

Very competent dupe of Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt that has slightly more prominent fig/fruit accords and slightly less prominent marine accords. I've done a test with one on each arm and was hard-pressed to tell the difference other than performance. While longevity and sillage are still not phenomenal (3-5 hours), they are significantly better than the original (1-2 hours), perhaps because of the higher concentration; Dossier claims 18% concentration here versus Jo Malone (cologne, so probably under 5%). At less than 1/3rd the price (and with 2-3x the longevity), the value proposition here is excellent. True unisex. All ages. You can get away with this in spring, summer, or fall, although the fruit being more prominent here tilts the seasonality more towards summer than the original, IMO. Office safe, crowd-pleaser, and blind buy safe for anyone who doesn't dislike aquatics or fruit.

Smells like you just left an expensive spa with a dry sauna room. I like the original Wood Sage & Sea Salt, but unfortunately it doesn't last more than an hour no matter how much I spray. This performs way better as I usually get a solid 4 hours before it disappears. It also stays very close to the original scent profile. As someone else noted, the opening is slightly heavier on the grapefruit whereas the original is mellow and linear. For comparison, the Finery dupe goes very heavy on the fig note, almost smelling entirely of a sweet fig tree which I do not like. This genuinely improves on the original, therefore it earns 5 stars from me. Would recommend picking it up when it's on sale for ~$20 or so.

Woody Sage doesn't last long on me, but while it's there it's absolutely wonderful. It's a good thing I pretty much just wear it to bed/around the house because my nose is practically glued to my wrist for 30 minutes after applying. Initially, it's a gentle, slightly fruity, slightly herbal aquatic and it fades into what I can only describe as "just grabbed my clean sheets out of the dryer and wrapped myself in them". Just the most comforting clean laundry scent ever. Totally love it. (And thanks to B&BW's Salted Shorelines, if I DO want to try wearing it to work, I don't feel bad frequently reapplying that throughout the day!)

I’ve never smelled the original but this to me smells like driftwood and salty sea breeze. It’s perfect for going to a rocky beach on a windy day but there is also something spa-like about it. I did hope the fig would be a little stronger but it’s just in the background, adding a hint of fruitiness. Also got Dossier’s Aquatic Peony, which isn’t on here but if you like fresh, aquatic scents but want something more fruity and floral, that one is also really pretty. However, that could be considered very feminine if you care about that, while Woody Sage is absolutely unisex. I can see my husband stealing this from me.

Clone of Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt. It opens with a brief burst of tart grapefruit and a slightly green fig and a hint of sunscreen. The heart comes through quickly with a salty, airy marine accord backed by musk and ambrette seeds (had to look up the ambrette seeds). The base is herbal with clary sage and a subtle amberwood cloying as driftwood. This comes off as very unisex; in a way it reminds me a bit of D&G pour femme flankers, namely Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Italian Love Pour Femme with how the solar accord interacts with deciduous fruit and citrus and the ambrette. I enjoyed this more than I expected.

Not a perfect dupe for JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt, but it's pretty close! This one is a bit more soapy and figgy, a bit less green and salty, but the overall vibe is very similar. Less picky noses might find them to be great dupes at initial sniff. I prefer JM overall, but I can't deny that the price of this one makes it pretty appealing, too. I love to spray this one on after I get out of the shower, it's just so clean smelling to me. Doesn't last super long so I have to reapply throughout the day but that doesn't bother me

This is an excellent dupe for Jo Malone's Wood Sage & Sea Salt. I wear this when I want to layer it with other scents so I can use the real deal on its own. My only complaint is there is a *very slight* waxy note in the dry down that tips off that this is a dupe. It's very faint and probably not noticeable to others who don't wear it frequently or aren't daily wearers of the Jo Malone version. Overall this is a really, really good scent. Fresh, airy, salty and clean, like standing in an ocean breeze.

Herb garden by the sea, late spring morning. A cold rush of air making your cheeks rosy. This is a very close dupe of Jo malones wood sage and sea salt. The only difference is this lasts longer and has a better projection (still not huge tho). A fresh unisex summer perfume that cools you down on hot days. This is a good pick for a summer scent if you don't really like tropical fruit vibes or florals but still want something that could be read as slightly femme.

First thing, it blows the og out the water with performance and longevity alone. It's a low bar comparing an EDP to an EDC but it lasts a respectable 5 hours. The only gripe I have has nothing to do with the fragrance itself but rather the idea that this is inspired by an EDC with good longevity, while Aquatic Lime is inspired by an EDT with bad longevity. Rant aside this is what I would say a good morning fragrance if that makes sense. 8.9/10

I adore this scent. Smells pretty much the same as the Jo Malone one, and for the price, you can't beat it. Lovely clean inviting aromatic smell, easy to wear for any occasion, and not overwhelming. It lasts 4-6 hours on me. I love layering it, particularly with Bleu de Chanel EDP. Gorgeous combination.

Basically an EXACT dupe of Jo Malone's Wood Sage and Sea Salt, but with WAY better performace! I own both and can hardly tell the difference aside from the longevity. The Jo Malone disappears completely on me within an hour, while the Dossier lasts overnight. At this price point, it's hard to beat!

I absolutely love this fragrance! To my nose it smells like 45% fico do Amalfi 45% Michael malul terra Nova 5% d&g K intense 5% fig man, to be very detailed. I have never smelled the jo malone. 9.0/10 * The most I've ever given a fragrance is a 9.6...

Wow, this is lovely, relaxing and reminiscent of beach vibes. I can see why people would wear this to bed. While it doesn't remind me of anything nostalgic specifically, it makes me feel nostalgic in general.

I love the scent however its projection is terrible, someone has to be very close to smell it, and it doesn't last long. After 30 min I can hardly smell it on my skin and clothes.

This is my absolute favorite fragrance, and I have about 13 of them. It’s so gently in the center of female and masculine.

This is my absolute favourite of the Dossier line thus far. Absolutely delicious.

No reason to get Wood Sage & Sea Salt with this around.

I own this fragrance and it is pretty good. I cannot say it is one of the best Dossiers out there. I can't say it is a must buy but it could be... Fragrantica got only half the notes. Dossier Woody Sage has top notes of: Fig Tree, Grapefruit; middle notes of Marine notes, Ambrette; and base notes of Clary Sage, Amberwood. Of the three missed notes, I would say it is marine. Maybe not a distinct note, but it has marine vibes. Woody Sage to my nose is a marine grapefruit open not too dissimilar to Invictus but it has a fig note that separted it from the Invictus pack and makes it more feminine and unique. The base is clary sage with some amber wood to it. I don't notice anberette in Woody Sage. I fell Woody Sage is missing something. If you add Aquatic Vanilla as a base for a layer mix to Woody Sage, you can get more from it. I feel these two are one of the better mixes you can have from two Dossier fragrances. Those two unisex fragrances work together. It lasts maybe 4/5 hours with moderate projection at first. Woody Sage even if it smells slightly feminine due to the fog is largely unisex. It can work in a number of casual settings. I do not know if it is a date fragrance but do not use this in a club. Even during summer. Dossier Woody Sage is decent for men. I do think it is better for women though. I rate it a 7.0 out of 10. Not bad for the price but I think it is more useful for women than men even if it is unisex.
