Iridum

All the non-plastic bits of orris, with dry woods, dry resins and 'something' green. It just works. It just works as a scent and I am really happy with it. I already have a 10 ml sample spray, and I think I can see myself looking to get even more -- I mean, I probably DON'T need it, and it's not like there is a nuclear holocaust on the way, but still, I feel like I WANT to get more. The dryness isn't offensive or abrasive or anything bad, it's just dry, but, it's the best parts of dryness and it's the part you probably locate in other scents and these elements are available for you, here, in Iridium. The booze isn't messy-moist-balsamic -- that too is dry. This is like 3 or 4 different types of dry all in one. I really recommend this one...

Wow. Got this as a sample in a recent order and this is RICH in the best way. Damn near chocolatey in its orris splendor. I’m hooked. Not too sweet. More sumptuous, deep and creamy. I’m impressed and it’s on my wishlist! EDIT Bought my full bottle of the EDT a few months ago. Absolute stunner

It smells green and boozy in opening to me and also a little powdery. The base isn't as resinous as I had expected but a sweetness comes through maybe from rose and stays throughout as the fragrance settles into a lightly spiced, woody myrrh base. I like this alot. It's lovely and light but has great longevity (>6 h) on clothing. -

I received a sample of Iridum, a brand new perfume from DSH, along with an online order for a small bottle of L'Eau d'Iris. Come to think of it, I believe that DSH perfumes only come in a 1 ounce size. Well that's the size of my three. It's a nice size for enjoying the wares of this house, which boasts dozens of different perfumes and is always coming up with new limited editions, as Iridum is. No need to focus in on a signature scent, with this sort of embarras de richesses it's better to explore the vast olfactory universe created by Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, an excellent perfumer firmly grounded in nature! Iridum initially reminded of Histoires des Parfums Blanc Violette. That must because of the ionones common to iris and violet. Anyway, as this creation dries down it becomes a completely different perfume, with a brownish dried-grass cast and some freshly sawed wood. It smells good. It's not as oriental as one might suppose, given the note pyramid. Frankincense and saffron are definitely not salient to my nose, but it's a fine woody iris composition nonetheless, and there is plenty of iris here to satisfy the true iris aficionado's cravings.

The first strike is a Tabasco hits with a fresh dewy green grass cut by a rusty metal sickle. After few minutes, it goes sawdust on balsamic haze. I believe it's the combination of cognac and beeswax with hints of orris that creates that sawdust effect as it reminds me allot of "Chene" by Serge Lutense but softer and slightly sweeter. Later i smell myrrh, slight incense, and a tiny bit of cinnamon. Honestly, the first sniff wasn't good, but now after few minutes, it went quite well! as it became interesting with that harsh sawdust.

This went wonky on me and I wound up getting what Q80 describes as "sawdust" though the words I was using to describe it was "cedar." I think it's caused by orris butter and myrrh. I've noticed in other compositions that too much orris butter can overwhelm a fragrance and myrrh is always tricky. A pity!

Chemical green harshness of Prada no7 and caron VP. Wonderful, but probably limited in who digs this type of green toxic spill. ME
