Vetyver

I'm very surprised there are no reviews of DSH Vetyver yet. I've had my bottle at least 10 years, maybe even more. I think it was one of the first bottles of DSH perfumes I bought. Admittedly I didn't gravitate to it right away. It's heavy. Definitely not just vetyver in there. Dawn always lists a ton of notes in her fragrances, but in this case pretty much all the base notes are there. And they're coming for you in the first 30 seconds too. Pulsating even. I can't think why I ignored this bottle for so long. Except I'm sure I bought it before the arrival of oud fragrances, so maybe I bought it in 2007 or so. Now that I wear a lot of them, DSH Vetyver fits right in. Heavy with the vetyver, dark sandalwood, amber, patchouli, myrrh, and oakmoss. Lasts about 5 hours on my skin. I would call it unisex, although most wearers of it will probably be men.

Really enjoy this one. A very natural, unisex take on vetiver. This doesn't feel like the typical citrus-heavy, bracing vetiver that's so common in a lot of masc-targeted fragrances. This feels earthy & warm-- it wears (and smells tbh) like a wool blanket. Very cocooning and comforting. I get a lot of patchouli in this, and a leathery quality becomes more prominent in the dry down, adding an almost "old book" sort of vibe to this. There's a faint ambery sweetness in the background which keeps everything from going too bitter. Really enjoyable wear.
