Eau de Luna - The Smell of the Moon

Kickstarter campaign frag. Believable rendition of moon dust. Similarities to Michael Storer's Monk and LDDM by Tauer with that dry, mortar, dirt note -- like old plaster and books. Also has a vanilla type note. Odd but pleasant and wearable. Long-lasting and linear.

It’s not as sharp as actual spent gunpowder, it lacks that sulphur bite. It’s more the idea of it sweetly metallic and the smell of a smokeless fire.

Upon initial smelling, this just smells like a hospital to me. Like a sterile hospital. Clean hospital instruments. The first thing that came to my mind was “antiseptic”. It gave me that same feeling as if you were to open a bottle of rubbing alcohol. After whiffing a few times, I started to smell a sweet smell with a hint of asphalt (I guess it could also be interpreted as gunpowder). I wouldn’t personally wear this, but it doesn’t really smell bad. I am very confused by the videos of people gagging while smelling this. Just smells very sterile and clean with a hint of sweet asphalt. I am also not picking up on any burnt meat smells that others are smelling. Update after doing a wear test on skin: so on the skin it does smell slightly different than what I describe above. Still has that sterile smell but I’m also picking up on a sort of sweet potato smell. I’m also smelling a sort of plastic smell almost like a pool float that has been sitting in the sun. This really doesn’t smell bad, like I said I wouldn’t wear this but it’s not bad!

Opens up a very dark soily plastic, in which case it’s a smooth but punching gunpowder, but an unspent gunpowder rather than used as @ArtemisCrimson suggests. Then, you can make out a basic, neutral, dry wood burning fire accord. Now that it’s already been mentioned, you could also connotate this with a burning plastic, but me personally, it’s a bit less acrid than that (I’ve smelled literal burning plastic before—please don’t do this). Over in the drydown, the fire accord tames down a bit, but the profile as a whole also becomes much more intimate. Should I smell like a walking smelting plastic? Probably not. But I probably will anyways because I can. I might keep a small decant just for the olfactory experience, but not really a FB. If this was purely plastic, it would be a different story, but we’re talking about the smell of the moon here.

Very strange opening, somewhat musky. Dries down and it gets more pleasant. I get a weird sexual vibe emanating from the fragrance. Very strange. The moon sure is a strange place if it smells like this.
