Jasmin et Cigarette

when i was growing up, i had these very intense neighbours. three people—an old woman (D) and her two adult children, both in their 40s-50s. the daughter (K) had an intellectual disability and even though she was 45 she was really 4, the son (E) was a heavily medicated schizophrenic, and the mother was the kindest lady i've ever met. i would go around all the time for lunch, and most days after school i would spend hours sitting on the front porch with E while we drew and painted and he showed me music and chain smoked marlborough reds and the worst cheapest shittiest weed you've ever seen. he was a fantastic oil painter and created these brilliant, enormous oil on board works that mainly revolved around christ, dying, dreaming, sleeping, violence, anger, and god. for most of this i was six to eleven years old and loved spending as much time there as i possibly could. their front yard was a fairy palace—D was addicted to buying garden ornaments and no one had much dexterity so it was constantly overgrown. the whole house smelt like: powder, years and years and years worth of tobacco that had seeped into the walls, floor, furniture, everywhere, oil paint, turpentine, sunday roast, soap, and the night blooming jasmine that had completely taken over the latticed walls of the porch. unbelievably, jasmine et cigarette is exactly this house. it's me age eight sitting on E's porch, watching him paint, smoke, i am hunting for cicada exoskeletons in the front yard, the jasmine is thick and heady, my clothes stink of cigarettes. K is asking me if i'd like to watch tv with her. i lie on the couch covered in oil paint and know that soon i'll have to go home.

Drag queen Sami Landri describes her style as trash-chic, and I think that’s the best descriptor for this fragrance. I’m not a smoker. I’ve tried a cigarette twice, and the more recent of those times I decided to try and inhale as much as I could. I devolved into a coughing fit and felt like I was about to throw up. Even then, I was laughing in between coughs as I fought the urge to dry heave. Drunk and stupid, with my hands on the cold dirt, I felt foolish, of course—but it felt like I’d hit some keystone “on the porch at a party” experience, like unlocking a minor easter-egg achievement. I’d also, strangely enough, felt like myself in a way that I rarely do. All this to say, this mirrors that sort of emotion: letting loose just enough to stop caring. Singing as I follow my friend to the corner store on a mission for her to buy cigs, the push up bra she wears to parties peeking from her corset top, cars honking at us as they pass because people are addicted to catcalling in the city she’s in. She’s really only a social smoker, but despite that she used to call her old car the Ashtray. She makes me feel whole, and though I wouldn’t say she smells like this at all, this fragrance strikes at the balance of femininity and kitsch that she embodies. I’m lucky to have such a wonderful person to think of when I smell this.

Not what I expected, but I love what I got from it in the end. :) This is an incredibly wearable creamy, floral, watery jasmine scent with a pack of cigarettes in the coat pocket giving it a dry, faintly warm and lazy comforting smell. It is simultaneously warm and cold. In order to get its full effect I had to apply liberally to the skin. Certainly not the “lit cigarette” smell I was expecting, and much more feminine than I had expected. I didn't get any nostalgia from this as I had hoped. It's not like sitting next to someone smoking or being in Vegas. It's much gentler. There’s a haunting, almost melancholic beauty with it that smells how I believe a ghost would smell. It is mysterious, sophisticated, and for a woman wise beyond her years. I want to roll around in the scent and become one with it, yet at the same time, i don’t know if I'm good enough for it. I don't think i meet this fragrance’s standards. Ultimately, it is the perfect marriage of warm dry ash and delicate wet jasmine. is undeniably beautiful. One of ELDO's best and most wearable fragrances. Very melancholic and also very womanly.

Is an intriguing fragrance and only the ones who understand the beauty of it will like it. An old school type of fragrance with nuances of tobacco and floral nature, imagine how smoking cigarettes made out of herbs and flower petals will smell like. The opening is a blast of cigarette ashtray with sour nuances, that transforms into a beautiful Jasmin, tobacco flower, fruity aroma, the apricot note along the floral gives it a great twist to the fragrance making it more wearable and the musk with the cedar wood takes it to a soft clean spot almost like a baby's butt. Wish this cloud be more loud in terms of projection and sillage, but I prefer to keep it for the only ones that can be close to me. An everyday essential fragrance, great for the day and to wear casual to a more elegant moment. Got this a sample and then without notice I was craving to wear it again and again that decided to get a full size bottle.

From a lot of 20+ ELDO samples: This one was super interesting and I really liked it. I get the tobacco and I get the florals, and they work together interestingly well. I think this would be a really nice and unique daytime scent. It's a bit cigarette smokey, but not to the point where its stinky and gross like some other fragrances i've tried, especially some leather ones. The tobacco fades just a bit in the dry down, but it still keeps that really nice floral scent. Maybe a tad more feminine cause of the Jasmine, but I could definitely see myself buying this one. I just wish it was STRONGER! First wear was pretty weak to me. I feel like this fragrance is what an absolute stunner of a Parisian woman smells like. A woman that I would fall head over heels in love with, but she wouldn't care about me in the slightest bit, changing the course of my life forever. Damn those French

I quit smoking more than a decade ago. Can't say that I miss it, but I do love the smell of cigarette smoke, always have. From time to time I enjoy a whiff when I pass by someone smoking. This perfume gives me a perfect fix. It has a tobacco note, but this is NOT a noble roasted tobacco like you can fine in Tobacolor of Chergui. This is 100% a cigarette. Like someone who smokes and tries to hide it by wearing a jasmine heavy perfume. I don't smell anything else, only fresh jasmine and cigarettes, just as the name says. I love this fragrance deeply, but I have never owned a bottle. I have my small decant and enjoy it at home from time to time, because frankly, as someone who works in healthcare, I do not want people to question if I am a secret smoker, and they absolutely will if you wear this in public.

(sample only) This scent is disgusting. I adore it. It is categorically not smoky cigarette vibes - off the bat. It is nasty wet ciggy vibes. And that's okay - it smells like years of covering up my smoking habit with inoffensive body sprays. But make it fancy. Outside of that, the (appropriately) obvious note I get throughout the life on skin is jasmine - and it is a good note, I love the jasmine. Won't be for everyone, and it is not a deep fragrance, but actually I think it works perfectly as an inoffensive daytime and regular fragrance that is pretty unisex. It's interesting enough to set your smell apart from the rest but not strong or too funky to throw folks off. 9/10 - I really rate this, 100% would love as rotational signature even if it is just for nostalgic former smoker reasons!

The first time i smelled this perfume i had just travelled to new orleans for the first time I was so intoxicated with the city and the south and the smell of jasmine and tabacco were everywhere My friend who was with me had a mini size bottle of this from a sale in NY and we used to put it on and drink tea outside together looking out into the luscious streetlife of the beautiful big easy this scent encapsulated everything so well the smells of the luscious plants the old buildings wood and stone the bar smoke the dark red lounges peoples dressed in costume opulent/ savage romance I was not so much into perfumes at the time of wearing this but it represented a time in a place that held so much meaning for me that i will never forget either the smell of the south or this perfume big love

the perfume delivers what it promises. the opening is much heavier on the jasmine, but it becomes a more heady, tobacco-y scent after the dry down. the jasmine is still very much present, but in a way that only sweetens the tobacco, far from overpowering it. the hay and cedar add two conflicting touches of musk and freshness respectively. so heavy on the tobacco that it might be unsavory for some (perhaps many), but that's seemingly the appeal. sweet and alluring with a certain edge. in a way, the tobacco + florals are reminiscent of a grandmother, but i say that in the best possible way - it doesn't smell like the elderly as much as it smells like the garden of an old manor. only sampled two spritzes of a tester, but this will likely be my next buy.

I’m impressed with this scent. I was hesitant at first to try, and I expected it to be unpleasant but wow... it smells clean like jasmine scented at first application, and after it dries down it brings out the musky tabacco. It’s not musky in a warm way, but in a cool, calm, collected way. I think this is really fitting for the spring or autumn, especially during a smoke break (lol). You could use this scent as a base and layer other scents on top of it as it’s quite mellow - and i think it’s an ode to people who will spray on perfume to hide the smell of cigarettes. The mellowness combined with the cool musky scent is something that really appeals to me and I could see myself buying this in the future. I don’t know if it’s for everyone.

I find this to be a wildly misunderstood fragrance... The really stunning contrast here is between ripeness (indolic jasmine) and staleness (the astringence of a three-day-old ashtray). This is such a well-crafted fragrance that it has literally changed the way that its irl accords smell to me. If you spend enough time with this perfume, it will teach you the olfactory similarities between tobacco and other dried leaves (especially hay, and straw, and wheat, and green/white teas). Perhaps most importantly of all, this perfume will remind you that, despite what the white-floral-industrial-complex wants you to think, there has always been and will always be something subtly and addictively weird/gross about the smell of jasmine.

God, this one actually hurts. No, it's not bad, it's actually the very opposite of bad, but it brings back those vivid memories of high school times and leaves me extremely nostalgic and heartbroken. In fact, I didn't get a full bottle after a decant because I simply wouldn't have the nerve to wear it. Or should I face the past? Anyway, this smells like hair and skin of a smoker standing under a bush of mock orange or a smoker who's having a cup of jasmine tea. It's me walking through the old neighborhoods in twilight hours, inhaling cigarette smoke and the smell of white flowers that are blooming all around. I love this fragrance. The tobacco puts a little edge on a floral. I love jasmine and have a little collection of jasmine fumes right now. However, I had the guy I date take a blind whiff of it, and his reaction was “it smells like trying to cover up a bad smell with a flower smell” and asked if I had sprayed another perfume and then washed it off and put this one. He didn’t like it. I told him the name of the perfume and he was like “Oh well that’s exactly what it smells like. Who would make a perfume with cigarette smell?”. Well, let’s be honest, the French. It makes sense. But idk, I love it, it’s a little mysterious and edgy take on a floral for those of us that still secretly romanticize smoking.

My forever love Jasmin et Cigarette... I know, I know I professed my undying love for this fragrance before, but I have also said that I would never own a bottle. Well, I do now own a bottle. At first I was somewhat upset because the juice in the bottle was not "my" jasmine and cigarettes, it felt a whole lot more jasmine and barely a cigarette. But after sitting for a month or so in the dark, the magic is back. My new modern bottle smells identical to my 14 year old decant. A guilty pleasure of mine is to douse myself in it on a lazy Sunday when I don't plan on leaving my house, and spend all day living life as a glorious ashtray. I absolutely love this absurd trainwreck of a perfume.

Chosen as a fragrance to mark my move to Los Angeles during jasmine season. This jasmine sits at the bottom of a pool of crisp, blue water, like the swimmer in David Hockney's Portrait of an Artist. There's an implication of a glamorous female friend laying nearby in the sun, smoking in a chic dressing gown. But it also artfully plays with the pissy gasoline facet of jasmine, which, when combined with a cigarette smoke accord, reads as ashy car exhaust. Feels like a kaleidoscope of the many faces of Los Angeles. Glamour, filth, haze, bright lights, and cloudless sky. High/low in a bottle. In its fluidity, I find it extremely versatile for any mood or scenario. A constant reach for me.

This perfume would be a perfect 10/10 for me if only it lasted longer on my skin. Reading everyone else's reviews, I'm definitely getting a different tobacco note than most people. It's not ash to me, but rather the sweet tobacco of an unlit cigarette. The jasmine is sultry, musky, and indolic, very indolic- I worry a little about offending other people's senses wearing this one but I love it too much to really care. Little flickers of dried apricot come through too. Overall, Jasmine et Cigarette is definitely a weird fragrance, in a way that really, deeply appeals to me. I fell in love with the sample at first spray and I don't see my bottle lasting a very long time.

This brings to mind chic, worldly women: Joan Didion, Nico, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Chloe Sevigny. A woman in a big city in her 30s or 40s -- not elderly or old-fashioned, but not some clueless kid either. She smells of bright fresh jasmine but with a bit of darkness from the cigarettes; maybe she smokes them out her window, maybe her lover does, or maybe she's just lingered at a cafe too long. I can see why the cigarette note might be off-putting to some, but to my nose it was not so extreme, and the jasmine definitely came through stronger. The jasmine lasted all day on me, I was pleasantly surprised. Really love this scent!

i think this is what sky ferreira smells like idk just received this one - and if it isn't love at the first smell. opens with nice but not nauseous sweetness and green tea freshness and gradually turns into airy sweet tobacco leaves - not the bitter cigarette smell, which i kinda expected from the name and reviews, but it is not a let down has some flowers to it, - and i also felt something ozone-like, but maybe it's because of the rainy weather lol overall a great perfume! will be trying in different weather and see how it acts, but for now im betting it's more of a spring/autumn perfume

Nada de melocotón. Es muy simple y sofisticada. Huele a tabaco, a cajetilla abierta nueva, no a cigarro prendido. Es un tabaco muy dulce. El jazmín le acompaña muy bien, nada punzante. Pese a ser un perfume floral es destacable lo dulce que huele. Es cierto que tiene un factor nostálgico, huele a una noche de verano hablando en tu terraza con un amor platónico hasta las tantas.

Airy jasmine and unlit cigarette that wavers between sweet and stale. One of the only fragrances to ever conjure such a specific memory from me - my parent's have spent the night talking and smoking with their friends on our Florida patio. In the morning, all is quiet and the air is humid and thick, but cool. A layer of dew settles on the plant life, deck chairs, and an ashtray full of cigarette butts. Within a foot the smell is intensely damp and warm at the same time, bordering on offensive but undeniably comforting.

i quit smoking last year and god do i miss it, like...if there was something i could wish on, it would be: world peace and for cigarrettes to not be harmful. anyway, this smells like if you left your leather jacket in the back of your chair at a bar where you can still smoke inside BUT it's not too crowded so it's just a hint and it mixes with a white floral perfume you borrowed from your roomate. it's not too indolic or too smoky, which might be a flaw to some but i personally like the subtle suggestions.

this is so much fun to me. somehow mixing freshly-lit cigarette smoke and a very indolic, heady jasmine has really, really worked. this is not a a typical nice-smelling fragrance; it smells good in a rough, dirty, edgy way. i haven't smelled such a realistic burning tobacco note before, and i really enjoy it, as an ex-smoker who mostly misses the smell of burning cigarettes over anything! potentially a buy for me. it's different, it does what it says on the tin, and it makes it work. 8/10

White jasmine petals crushed and disperesed throughout a fresh cigarette. The mixture of it all creates a wonderful cacophony of cigarette paper, white jasmine and tobacco. Likely my favorite from the brand and a must try, a more unique than the more popular picks from this house. Fun everyday wear for all seasons, noticable arms length projection, soft yet lingering sillage and longevity. Jasmin et Cigarette my love, <3

This is such a fun offering from ELDO. The cigarette smoke here is definitely perceptible, and makes for a fascinating companion to the innocent white florals --- this is pretty with an edge! Jasmin et Cigarette: she's the cool, raunchy, little bit skanky, rich party friend you're fascinated by but always gets you into trouble. You can't hang out with her often but when you do, you know it's going to be a wild night!

This smells like a bottled jasmine tea that is common in Southeast Asia but with a dirty twist. IMO, yes it smells like a second hand cigarette smell that lingers on your clothes and hair when you're trapped in a room without ventilation with a bunch of smokers. It might sound disgusting but it actually smell nice. I love thisssss one a lot and the smell is nowhere near offensive.. but I'd say don't blind buy.

Starts off kind of skanky, actually very similar to a dumped out ashtray. Smoky, tobacco and hay forward, with some jasmine in the background giving it a rounded floral scent behind the grime. The grime dries down to a beautiful jasmine scent, a little sweetness of apricot and earthiness from tobacco, with the hay scent still present but switching with jasmine for prominence during the dry down.

Why does everyone claim they don't smell smoke or tobacco? Did they really ruin this perfume in the new formulations? If so, I urgently need to buy an older bottle, even if it's not on sale... (For reference: my sample was purchased in early 2024, and is probably much older, since there was an almost empty bottle in it(from which the samples were poured) . I wish I had bought it earlier...)

Jasmine is one of those scents I love smelling the flowers of, but struggle with in perfume form. I loved this jasmine. Best clean jasmine Ive smelt. I also liked the tobacco. Its a work suitable tobacco. You dont risk smelling like an ashtray. I mean, it delivers. A good jasmine and tobacco. Not long lasting at all- gone within an hour. Ive purchased cheap body sprays that last longer.

Wowwwww I liked this so much more than I thought I would! Smells exactly like what it says on the tin. Sharp jasmine and cigarette smoke on first spray and slowly morphs over time, getting cloyingly sweet for a few moments, before settling down into a ‘jasmine tea from a Japanese vending machine that’s been sitting in the sun for too long’ kind of vibe. I love it!

I had a feeling I would love this and I DO. I don't get an overt cigarette smell, at least not a lit one. More like smelling a freshly opened pack of herbal or clove cigarettes. The jasmine is beautiful in this and blends with the other scents so nicely. It's a very "clean" scent ironically enough. Really nice if you're looking for a more unisex floral smell!

I've never liked perfumes that contain tobacco anyway, but my daughter bought this perfume and I was just blown away by it, very interesting scent, very nice smell. I not feels tabacco at least, more like jasmine mixed with orange mmmm.I also bought this perfume.😁 Minus is only 1, that the smell not last longer.

This works really nicely on my skin. The jasmine is clean and clear, the tobacco is pretty and perfectly backup, the hay adds a dry warmth with the amber and musk, and I don't get much cedar or tonka which is fine with me because I'm not crazy about those. I just wish it lasted longer/projected more!

Have i gone insane or this dry down exactly like ilio by diptyque? The tobacco note is not prominent but curated nice enough so its not crash with jasmine. A lovely 3rd date scent when you are ready for serious shit but still keep to yourself a little innocent secret under the sleeve

The most feminine ELdO I own, but it's also one of my favorites. The Jasmine is hyper-real. I've heard some say the tobacco isn't very ashtray on them, but it's pure ashtray on my skin and I love it. It reminds me of my early 20s, when we could still smoke in bars.

Def a favorite. It smells strong as an opening probably from the tobacco, but softens with the nice florals. Smells like the coolest girl you knows car after opening a fresh pack. Would buy the full size if it lasted more than 2 hours.

intense tobacco note on initial spray (something like if you smoked a cigarette drenched in gucci bloom) quickly dries down to a savory honeyed jasmine tea. just bought a full bottle, exited to wear this in the spring.

this is like the sandal 33 for cool girls in the sense that it is a nice basic kind of floral but the smoky character is gorgeous i love a smoky fragrance and this is such a fresh and light take on wood and tobacco

Wow. I slept on this for years. Always curious about it but thought that would be too feminine or funky. Not at all. Great fruity Jasmine with a warmth background. Very harmonious. Beautiful and perfect.

In store it smelled really great -- the tobacco was really coming out strong. From a dropper sample its a lot more jasmine than tobacco. Otherwise, it's skanky and lovely. Total heartbreaker. Love it

Jasmine heavy is safe to say about this one. But I find it very sweet, and not skanky and/or dirty as some have described. The tobacco is well blended and it’s hard to pick it apart from the jasmine. It feels like they belong together. The perfume itself fluctuates between being big and loud like you’re outside in a garden actually taking a smoke, and being quiet and intimate like you’ve just gone inside, and the cigarette has just barely taken a hold of your shirt. It reminds me a bit of a parfumerie in the south of France, Spain or Italy. Or maybe a soap store, or something in that general area, where all the pretty ladies that work there smell like this. A mixture of clean white florals and the cigarettes they have been smoking for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After a few hours it has faded into the skin as a very quiet musk, and feels very clean? If that is possible to say about such a cigarette scent. Nevertheless, you still get some mystique, and quiet smoke in the drydown, but it is sweeter and deeper in a way. Maybe that is the apricot? At times I could understand how this one smell (I don’t find an English word for this, but a house where someone have been smoking inside for a whole lot of years) smoked in (???). But I never pick up how this could smell like a sour ashtray? The jasmine in here is way too sweet and soapy for that.

I don't mind it for sweaty summers, it doesn't bore me and doesn't give me migraines (and I can get them easily). On my skin the sweetness is nonexistent. I would even say it becomes slightly soury. The tobacco note does not smell familiar to me, even though I smoked for many years both cigs and rolls. But if I had to choose I'd place the note on the rolls' side. The jasmine, again, isn't sweet on me at all, it's irritating (in a good way, like, it stays very present) but not heavy. In fact, there is nothing heavy in this perfume. It is unpretentious, straightfoward, clear. It's a match to a sortie to a fleamarket on a very hot day, to sitting on a heated ledge of a fountain, to those specific hours of the afternoon when the sun is as if not moving. It feels like being sad in summer. It usually stays on me for 4-6h, within less than an arm length distance. It is not offensive but for some noses it might smell strange. It washes off with showering and disappears from clothes rather fast.
