Super Fragrance for Women

To me it's a soft chypre. Not strong and loud but there in a sweet wave. 😊

When it was in vogue I was a student exploring the world of perfumes and nearing more sophisticated scents than the ones I had been using until then. I have always had a soft spot for oakmoss and aldheydes, maybe thanks also to Superfragrance by Aigner. Etienne Aigner in the '70es was a luxury brand, with high end leather and beautiful classy clothes. I could not afford none of them, but a bottle of Superfragrance made me feel special and high style too. It was very long lasting, very complex and, yes, I am one of those who mourn the death of too many beautiful perfumes (either reformulated or discontinued it matters little). This kind of scents were very popular in the '70es (Private Collection, Charlie, Rive Gauche, Calandre were the leaders) and Super Fragrance was less exposed, more niche, harder to find but no less good. It was perhaps similar to Private Collection but less sharp, more rounded. Too many gourmands, sweet, food scents today. If Superfragrance came back it would stand as a novelty. But I'am afraid this is only a dream. Unfortunately.

I absolutely love this fragrance! I got lucky with finding a mini on eBay a while ago and I have been searching in vain for more ever since. It gives the impression of a green chypre, but with lots of aldehydes and a rather highly pitched opening. It has a lot of throw, so I apply it very lightly if I want to wear it to work, but mostly I enjoy it at home. I hope I can find more someday. It is very much a scent for mature women, not girls, and it has a very "tailored" character, sharp and crisp, a little bit like the original Norell perfume; in fact, it would also be a really great masculine. Another great Seventies scent lost to time.
