Cuir Celeste Par Mathieu Cesar

If you love leather fragrances as much as I do, you're often looking for a leather you can wear daily and not overwhelm people, because as beautiful as they are they can be quite overpowering. This gorgeous light leather from Ex Nihilo does not pack a lot of punch but it's really gorgeous. This is mostly a linear, quiet, and light floral leather without a preponderance of floral notes, so it comes across as just quite soft and stylish. The name is pretty perfect--it has the happy, non-cloying scent of violet leaf and galbanum beautifully paired with the leather. Like all Ex Nihilo fragrances, it is not cheap, but it would be such a great signature scent. Highly recommended if you have the $$$.

Smells really soothing and mysterious at the same time.Love it! In my skin it comes with a splash of white tea and ambrette which is a bit sour and citrusy then it takes its place to a sweet leathery and delicate Osmantus . I feel a very powdery note like Iris in that which stays until the end and Patchouli gives this combination a great harmony. It’s one of the bests in this brand.

As I relish the dry down, I envision myself in an old English library from the 1700s. Scant daylight and a calm pleasant grayness. I find myself whirling about in the scent of book leather and a violet corsage... Opening green with a chilly edge, tempered with galbanum. Moderate to soft silage.

Starts off with a true to its name, celestial clarity, a luminous interplay of airy aromatics and piquant green spice—fragrant black pepper, dewy leaves, intertwined with a whisper of sage and citrus zest. A subtly bitter undercurrent runs through, an elegant counterpoint that lends the composition a most refined edge. It soon reveals a delicately steeped oolong tea avvord, its smoky translucence curling like vapor in crisp morning air. It is soft yet tenacious, a balance of tannic depth and weightless fluidity, seamlessly interwoven with suede-like nuances. Evokes the tranquility of a quiet tea house, where the scent of well-worn cuir-bound books mingles with fragrant steam rising from porcelain cups. What was once a celestial drift is soon however seized by cypriol oil, its earthy, medicinal intensity weaving through the composition like shadows overtaking light. Its leathered, almost rubbery presence dominates, pressing down on the once airy structure with an insistence that feels heavy handed. The ethereal facets of the tea and rejuvenating spices dim a tad beneath its dark, rooty grip, leaving a trail that feels, while aromatic and fresh still, far more grounded—perhaps too much so when compared to its wonderful legacy. Still it must be said, Cuir Céleste is exquisitely constructed—its balance of light and depth, bitterness and smoothness, of something both airy and grounded, celestial yet tactile. If not for cypriol’s unwavering grip, I might have adored it unconditionally, but even so!! Cuir Celeste remains a remarkable scent of undeniable poise.

Super interesting perfume like wearing a warm cozy leather jacket. The perfume opens briefly with aromatic notes of sage, pepper, violet leaves and galbanum. The heart is mostly musk mallow with slight hints of osmanthus, tea and jasmine. The perfume settles soon into its leathery base surrounded by hints of cypriol, patchouli and synthetic musk. The masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and excellent longevity. Not for everyone but adventurous perfume lovers and leather scent lovers will find a lot to enjoy in this expertly constructed perfume.

Chocolate, musk, violet leaves and leather. Very cozy and beautiful, very complex and unusual. For a second i get Tuscan Leather, then it goes away and gives me chocolate and powder...and then some green muskiness comes along for the ride. I am very surprised. Quentin Bisch did a great one. This also reminds me just a little of Ganymede, for the mineral side of it. This is complex for sure, try it on your own please!

That's what luxury smells like.

As Venenum Kiss is one of my favourite perfumes, I try to test everything from this house. Cannot really imagine this scent on a woman, wearing this as test now and think this tends to the "masculine side". The opening is quite heavy but it gets a bit easier on the nose after 15 minutes, at first I wanted to scrub it off but forced myself to wait and it gets more w/bearable. I could imagine this as a room / library home perfume.

I love Ganymede and Bois Imperiale, they are my absolute favorites along with L’Art de La Gerre from Jovoy. So, naturally when I saw the note breakdown I had to try it expecting the same experience, but...... This is a very feminine leaning fragrance, it smells like a very soft female leather jacket with a slightly sour pear vibe to it. Possibly due to the lack of immortelle in the mix. I went back and smelled it on skin and on a tester strip and it does smell a bit clearer on the strip. You can pick out the notes a bit better on the strip. To summarize, if you are looking for Ganymede look elsewhere. Looking at comparisons with other fragrances, this smells like Grain de Poudre and I have to agree. It smells like makeup powder on leather. Grain de Poudre is marketed as a female scent and this is definitely feminine leaning. It lacks the herbaceous elements that make Bois Imperiale and Ganymede more appealing.

I wonder where are the vetiver & iris notes? Now this isn't leather as it should be, it's earthy vetiver and iris blend with doses of musk mellow, and galbanum. It does have osmanthus but it's barely detected. Now this is the kind of fragrances that is commercially labelled "For him" and i believe it will be an extraordinary hit if it's marketed well cause (no offense for that of course) it has every note that every guy who doesn't want to wear something more than a fragrance that will make him smell like any other ordinary guy wearing a fragrance.

The strong earthy and cucumber of violet leaf and galbanum green... I don't feel any artificial leather nuance (Isobutyl quinoline) in this fragrance. and I also feel the deep woody scent of carrot seed (a very deceptive usage for a replacement of "ambrette"). the smoky cypriol together with other natural woody notes make a naturally leather feeling.

-Unisex, soothing tea scent. -Steaming mug of yerba mate tea in a bottle. -I imagine this has more longevity than actual tea though. It has musk notes that help it stay on clothing/skin. (-)

Why do I smell cumin? 😩 I blind bought it based on the notes but the top notes has cumin. Which I h@-**!
