Reserve for Men

That is that scent. The one you've always wanted to have. Starts off as boozy perfume and totally classy. Sophisticated soapy fresh after the boozy opening with a hint of fruits in the background. The fruits are raw, and not sweet. Like a manly fruit ... lol. Easily overpowers any other scent in the room, but in a good way. It smells to me like "Yo, I'm a clean and well dressed man. Smell me!" Smells like an express store when they used to spray this stuff everywhere. When Express came out with the neons and the military shirts and all that. This is just such a great quality, expertly blended and well worth the $30 buying price. Wow a high quality 2010 throwback! Of course my review is about the original formulation (dark juice). God-like! +1 for awesome 11/10

The citrus note is definitely most prominent right after spraying and is the first to fade away. The spicy notes are the most prominent and enduring while the amber and fruity scents are more or less in balance and all of these combine to create a fragrance that is fairly strong up close without being conspicuous at a distance of more than a few inches. You'll almost certainly need to reapply throughout the day, but even at its most faded, the spicy/amber dry down remains subtle, tenacious, and enticing.

My girl and i went to the Express store out in n,y and she wanted to buy this one because she said it was O.M.G good...lol love this but the Amber juice do me more justice..then the new formula.

Absolutely love it. I have the new formulation, it still smells great. I don't really get much citrus out of this, this is definitely spicy oriental, but clean.

Still have my original formulation in 2019, my wife absolutely loves this on me. Its been over 5 years, and it is still amazing juice.

Fantastic cologne, well deserving of praise. After it calms down for 15mins its wonderful.

slight and smooth inoffensive amber

I love the clothes at Express and figured I'd try the cologne. They had it on sale, and I had a member's deal I got online for 30% off one item--Express Reserve was that item. I can immediately smell the spice with a subtle fruitiness behind it. The spicy smell remains throughout, but loses some of the intensity with time, giving way to a powdery, fresh, floral scent. I would say this is a more "distinguished" or "mature" smell. For young to middle-aged men, not for teens. The scent seems noticeable for 3-4 hours; after that, you may need to reapply. The projection is moderate, so it's a bit more of a subtle cologne. I see it as more of a fall/winter scent also, but good for any time of day. This was a blind buy I got on a whim. I'm pleased with my purchase. I don't wear this one too often, but it's a nice one to add to the repertoire.

i blind bought this based on some reviews when I first got in to fragrances which I almost regret now. I hardly ever reach for this. The only reason I somewhat regret this blind buy is because I was expecting something dark, like the juice. Something smokey and spicy. No. It's sweet and has that cheap fragrance vibe in the opening like dirty English or something.. If you want it pm me, if not it will be on eBay. I would rather it go to someone who appreciates it more than I.

A very nice smelling fragrance, inoffensive and sure to please many. It smells like something Calvin Klein would make. Performance is only fair, which is not surprising given that it is an eau de cologne.

Very office friendly scent and nice enough for spring and fall. Average longevity and does not scream at you. A very refined gentlemen like scent that is spicy with hints of sweetness.

I remember wearing this back in high school in 2009. Smelled good then. I was young. Time comes for all of us.

Amber bomb, this reminds me of curve crush, one of my first fav fragrances growing up. It just smells too much like some other stuff I have and a little too dated for me. Perhaps the older formulations were better.

Smells like if you mixed missoni parfum with Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. Very nice

Opens with heavy citrus, some fruit, and just a little bit too clean. The dry down becomes even more soapy. decent projection and longevity. Overall, its just too soapy, I'm not a fan.

Not very good, read the hype on it while looking for rare colognes and due to its rarity - purchased it on ebay. Was a mistake. Like some bad CK knockoff imo.

it smells boring and flat, they should have better ingredients but it was still better than their fresh frag on the other side of the counter

Some opt for the "fresh spicy" label for Express' first men's scent, Reserve, but to me, there's nothing terribly fresh about it. The "warm spicy" label works better. Unfortunately, there's nothing terribly special about it---there's a remotely boozy, spicy, and even quasi amber aspect to it, but something about it is unsettling. It doesn't really work well in any of those categories, but is rather awkwardly at the intersection of them. I don't even get the lemon (listed in the notes) at the opening---no brightness or freshness. I imagine this is the newest formulation, but I've heard better things about the vintage formulation as of late, and unfortunately, I don't even remember it all that way. It's unimpressive with respect to projection and longevity, but it's to be expected at the price point. I at least obtained a 30ml bottle during a Black Friday 50% off but I'll probably pass this on to a friend. I could see many men liking this, or it even working for some women, but it simply depends on whether it's your type of spicy---it's generic but that doesn't mean it's bad for you; it just doesn't do anything for me. Archetypically mediocre and slightly unsettling. 5 out of 10

My bottle has the very light yellow color liquid. The citrus at first is quite nice. I rarely like citrus top notes, which usually come across to me as metallic and too sharp, but this is not like that. The base is a light oriental with a bit of woody/dryness. Yes, there is probably some spice or whatever, but this is not what you would get from a spicy niche fragrance. Instead, it's meant for the "modern" guy who doesn't want to go on the olfactory offensive in public. I would have liked to have tried the older version and I'd certainly take a chance swapping it for this one, since it's supposed to be bolder. As things stand, I might use this one to layer with other fragrances that could use a bit of this sort of base. UPDATE: Second wearing, and I get more complexity this time, and also more of a powdery quality eventually. While it doesn't smell all that "natural" I don't get an obviously "synthetic" quality, and overall it works very well, at least for my preferences. It's a pleasant surprise, though a similar vintage scent is going to seem more natural, complex, etc., as is expected.

nice scent. i'm afraid it's a hit or miss for people my age (18+), some enjoy it and some don't. but to me, at least, it smells very nice and fresh, spicy. i have the new edition of it, i got it in store for around $35 (from what i remember) which i thought wasn't too bad. i enjoy the bottle design quite a bit! something you wouldn't hear often, but still, nonetheless a nice design. first sprays as usual are going to be a bit heavy and sharp/green, in my opinion, but it dries into something sweet, powdery, clean, and nice. if i spray at 0700, i'd usually have to respray by 1200-1300. could use a bit more of longevity and projection, but i'm afraid it won't be a scent i'll be using as much lately. a nice buy for your collection of scents, for a nice price.

I went to the mall today to check the difference in the reformulation of this cologne. At first I thought they just took out the dye so the cologne wouldn't stain light colored fabrics, but no it is a different version. It appears that the brandy notes were pulled back in the opening and citrus is up front giving it a clean fresh vibe. The drydown is still the same though. It comes off as a weaker version or a more versatile version of the original formula depending on how you look at things. The original version (darker juice and black box) is heavier, more linear, and projects. Where as the newer version breaks things up with a distinct fresh opening.

This review is for the new (reformulated?) cologne in the clear bottle. Not bad for a mall store fragrance lol! Express Reserve is a rather spicy, refined fragrance best suited (in my opinion) for evening or formal wear. Very elegant, masculine, and well balanced, if a tad bit generic.

Nice scent. The Brandy is apparent from the initial spray along with a subtle sweetness. Compliment getter and could serve well as a signature scent as it isn't invasive. I haven't smelled the reformulated juice, but I may actually have to invest in a backup bottle of the original.

Just got this today. It is a low key scent. It can get u compliments if u apply it right could be my signature frag smells sexy

i have this one and its a ok fragance but its an up close scent i got amber for the dry down and brandy as the opening...
