Ybris

I’m very enthusiastic about reviewing this fragrance that is one of best niche creations ever made. I agree with OlfractalInfemme who is writing that Ybris is a reminding of Italy. This is real quintessence that perfectly describes it. Powerful but gentle, a little sweet but not cloying, spicy but never overwhelming just perfectly balanced. If I would compare it to other fragrances IMHO it is similar a little bit to Aria di Capri by Carthusia. Same as the latter it starts with strong peach accord (I don't know why it is not listed above) but shortly the white flowers and spices play first role. The silage of Ybris is amazing. It stays on my skin for many hours – almost whole day. I can recommend it for everybody who likes fresh (but not generic watery) fragrances that can make you smiling.

This scent reminds me very strongly of Italy. Wonderfully unique. Luscious pear, almond and chocolate on panna cotta. Resin and oakmoss add an earthly masculinity. A fascinating fragrance for both men and women. Respectable silage and longevity.

I knew I had to try Ybris as soon as I spotted it on Fragrantica, because from the note list I could tell it would be unlike anything else I'd ever tried. And it is! It's totally original, and one of those scents you have to smell for yourself because it's impossible to conjure up in words: it smells nothing at all like I had imagined, but the note list looks pretty accurate for all that. Amaretto is there, but more as a mellow, almost creamy sweetness than as a boozy element. The same for citrus: it's there, but more as a general fruity aspect instead of the usual tart, bright and sunny incarnation. All in all the effect is not dissimilar of panna cotta, as a reviewer below mentions, but it's not really a gourmand scent either, even though it's very (but not overbearingly) sweet - and that must be the benzoin asserting itself, even though I can't make it out in itself. There's a faint spicy/earthy side to it too, which helps to balance it away from one-dimensional sweetness as well. So very hard to describe, but wonderful, although it's the kind of fragrance you have to be in the mood for (and not at all the kind that can be worn regardless of season, mood or context). It's quite powerful as well; easier to overspray than underspray with this one, and a little lasts all day with good projection for most of that time. Which means my decant will last me a long time, and I'm not sure if I'll ever need a full bottle, but I'm certainly happy to have this unique non-/semi-gourmand cold weather citrus in my collection. I'm surprised it's not better known (judging by the low number of reviews)!

This is a lovely soft peachy citrus, very round and smooth (for a citrus). I don't smell any chocolate or foody sweet notes, but the cirtus itself is on the sweet side. Ultimately I won't wear this, though it is nice.

This should be decanted in a balloon, enjoyed sitting in an armchair in front of a fireplace. Nice!
