Laughing with a Mouthful of Blood

I got this as a blind buy because every review made it sound right up my alley and it is! First hit gives you spicy leather and fruity bubblegum right out of the back. As it dries down the tobacco and coca-cola pushes through, expanding the scent. It’s spicy, sweet, and a little old in the most perfect way. It makes me think of thrifting an old, worn leather jacket, well loved, and when you open it you find an old pack of cigarettes and a packet of gum in the pockets. You wear the jacket through your teenage hijinks, sneaking smokes down by the river, shooting whiskey and chasing it with coke, chewing gum so your parents don’t find out. I’m obsessed!

a dreamlike evocation of that strange period of adolescence where everything is sugary and syrupy sweet but somehow still feels restrictive. brings to mind that feeling of being too big for your body or the aches of growing pains. smells like saliva + cola + bubblegum tied up neatly in a bow. reminds me of the parts of being a teenager that i would rather not share...yelling at my parents and slamming doors and reveling in anger at all that i could not change.

WAOW..!! blind bought her because even before i was into perfume i remember being intrigued by this one.. and holy shitt all my expectations are met and broken.. beautiful piles of banana candy swirling in a pool of fizzing cola inside an aromatic leather purse. and youre inside the mall. so cute and unique, on my bf's skin it quickly turns into all the base notes, on me the head and heart are more noticeable and stay for a while.. what a special guy

James Elliot nailed this fragrance, smells like pineapple soda bubblegum and banana candy. The bubblegum note stands out the most for me but just a little it’s very balanced. The tobacco and leather notes make the fragrance a little more mature. It’s one of my favorites in my growing collection. There are a couple other fragrances by Filigree and Shadow I have my eye on for the future.

It makes me smell like a moody truant teen. The coco-cola gum, banana and pineapple is a louche combination, with something not unlike saliva to it. The scent dries down to rich, sweet second hand smoke and leather.

Love it! I blind bought a full size of this, and I would say it was successful, but not safe for everyone. This is the embodiment of a cigarette mom. The opening is very pineapple, banana, and bubblegum on me (I don't get much Coca-Cola) and it dries down to a nice oud-y, leathery tobacco. It is even a little metallic, but I don't mind it. I feel so cool when I wear this and agree with other users who say it reminds them of being a badly behaved teen.

I was initially hesitant about this perfume, as a longtime coca-cola hater. But I was intrigued by the banana/bubblegum/leather combination, and got it in a sample set. I'm totally thrilled with this scent: it's spicy, metallic, juicy all at the same time. It blends beautifully, and is an unexpected new favorite. My skin maybe doesn't pick up the leather/tobacco, or at least it's appropriate for daytime wear. It's playful and a little shocking.

To me, this perfume smells like the inside of a well loved leather purse that has been through it all. It begins with the top notes where it brings me to the bottom of the purse. I smell an old open pack of juicyfruit gum that has been forgotten about. There's no distinct notes of banana or pineapple that I can pick up, just the smell of a stale pack of fruity (and slightly minty) gum that is quickly intertwined with the smell of a nostalgic cola from the 2000s, Pepsi Lemon Twist. It's fizzy, cola-y, and lemony. The scent is bold and if a bottle of this were inside of the purse, it smells as if it had spilled. Next to the cola, I get a strong waft of tabacco, like from a freshly opened pack of cigarettes. Then comes earthy notes that remind me of old dollar bills. Throw in some old coins, recipets, and some keys while we are at it. To wrap all these notes together, we have leather, lots of leather, just like this lived-in leather purse with all this stuff inside. This purse, I had this purse, and when you open this purse you get hit with a scent that this perfume reminds me of. It's definitely unique in it's own way and I have never smelt a fragrance that captured this kind of smell before. This was a blind-buy. I was hoping it would have been a little more playful, in a cutie-girly way based on the notes lol. Not for me personally, but I can see this working better sprayed on a man and it probably wouldn't come off smelling like "used purse" on him, but more of a slightly sweet citrusy cola tabacco leather mysterious scent, which sounds like it could be attractive. 🙃

this is the smell of a knife sticking out of a banana cream pie, sweet but glinting. and kind of spitty. side rant: i tend to fear anything with notes of bubblegum (see: Lush's Tank Battle) because i used to work at an outdoor preschool where our bathroom was a single porta potty that radiated a stifling, burpy blend of bubblegum-poop sorrow. on bad days i'd cry on the train home, ears still ringing from 6 hours of shrieking 4 year olds, clothes reeking of the sorrow. but _laughing with a mouthful of blood_ is not so much bubblegum porta potty as it is bubblegum *wrapper*- like those dusty zebra-themed bubblegum wrappers that doubled as temporary tattoos. here, james elliott takes that playful thread and runs it through a satirical comedy/horror-comedy movie reel - something like Serial Mom or Dazed and Confused or Cruel Intentions- thanks to the banana laffy taffy and metal chain vibes and heaps of tobacco. it's a cheap thrill kind of smell, and it's still kind of gross, but i'll admit, it's not the worst! i may even be brave enough to wear it to my local park's outdoor showing of The Mummy next month.

first impressions: Part of the reason I got this sample is because I was at such a loss when I read the notes online. On the testing strip I'm getting laundry, fruity, floral, the vetiver. I get what mimikeekee is saying about the parallel to saliva. samgsi's note about the metallic. can't put it better than confetti.mu's leather purse description. I get that feeling in my mouth akin to tasting blood, so the name is apt in a way I didn't expect. It seems to seesaw back and forth between sweet candy cola and blood as I smell it (perhaps tmi but makes me recall the advent of menstruation in middle school in an avant-garde way). certainly evocative, and i love the frontier creator james elliot is exploring using perfume as an expression of protest and discontent.

Very much doctor’s office off the rip, the banana pineapple bubblegum cola smell all feels quite sterile and medicinal, which fits the story of the fragrance. The smell has an anxiety to it, something almost mentholated. The dry down takes a few hours to fully expand, upon which the top notes disappear to reveal a very approachable and wearable vanillic woody leather scent. Glad I have a sample because it’s a creative and interesting fragrance, but I only wear it when I’m feeling austere and alien.

Your mom is silently driving you home from the store. She's wearing an old leather jacket, a sealed box of Newports poking out of its pocket. The two of you got into a fight in the checkout lane. You quietly pull out a piece of tropical bubble gum and pop it in your mouth, hoping it will distract from the pit in your stomach. In the center console the subject of the argument, a bottle of Coke, lurches back and forth with the movements of the car.

This is a perfume that feels like it's got some worldbuilding behind it, which is a vibe I've gotten and loved from all the fragrances I've sampled from this house. It's very much your mom's coach bag/back of the volvo with diet coke and some other darker thing underneath. Love. Very wearable actually.

Damn I love this so so much, it lasts for a long time on my skin and makes me feel like a badass.
