Mystic Fig'ures

Mystic Fig'ures by Fine'ry has NOT been discontinued! It is sold through the Target App, but sells out quickly. I suggest turning on notifications for restocks. Anyway, on to the review... Mystic Fig’ures by Finery smells very similar to Snif’s Vow Factor. The openings are nearly identical, though they differ in the dry-down. Vow Factor dries down to a softly sweet vanilla with hints of an underripe fig hovering in the background. Finery’s Mystic Fig’ure’s dry-down is less sweet, leaning more heavily on a musky base. I did not care for the scent initially, however I recently layered Mystic Fig’ures with JHAG’s Vanilla Vibes and fell in love!!! I immediately purchased 2 backup bottles of Mystic Fig’ures. Layering Mystic Fig’ures with JHAG’s Vanilla Vibes creates a softly sweet and slightly salty fig fragrance perfect for the scorching heat of summer. With excellent longevity and an appropriately enjoyable sillage, I heartily recommend you try!

This opens up with a very aromatic green yet salty sage and sweet fig. Smells aquatic and fresh like fresh ocean spray combined with the smell of figs nearby. The sage and salt are most prominent to my nose with the fig following closely. In the dry down is when I pick up mostly a sweet fig and less sage and salt. I agree with those that compare this to Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt with an added fig note. I would not compare this to Diptyque Philosykos EDT. Not a dupe at all. It also reminds me of Tom Ford’s Figue Erotique, without the florals. But it contains the same fig, salt, woods base. The added sage and salt in this takes this into soap/lotion fresh territory. This is very unisex. Wears lovely fresh out the shower.

This review is for the body spray, which has less longevity than an EDP typically, although I have not tried this particular scent in the EDP. Rural summer in a bottle. It has a field smell, not a woods smells. It’s a temperate climate green, no tropical touch. It smells like tall wheaty grass, nostalgic cheap bug spray mingling with vague flowers and sunscreen. I don’t get any watery notes. It reminds me strongly of my childhood/early teen years, during the hot months, living in the middle of nowhere, in the make-your-own-fun nonsense of the late nineties/early aughts. Highly recommend for fans of G R E E N scents.

This is the best and most of the complex of the new line and I am obsessed. It’s like catnip. So good!

Regardless of the rest of my review, I have to agree with the reviewer below me that this fragrance is like catnip. I keep going back to sniff it. I can't even make up my mind if I'm going to keep it, but that's just a fact. So I expected this to be an aftershave-esque scent like Phlur's Father Figure and that isn't exactly the case. This is a zesty, zingy green fragrance somewhat akin to Hollister Free Wave or Solinotes The Blanc to my nose. It starts out straight-up grassy but that falls off and leaves a bright, sharp shower gel smell. I honestly just really wish I had a wax melt or candle in this scent because it would be heaven on a spring day or summer morning. I like how this one is something different. Reads true unisex to me. If someone passed me while wearing this I'm certain I would think they smell great. Also I'm a huge fan of freshies, but I wouldn't say they always smell classy -- yet something about this one feels expensive to me. Side note, I distinctly remember reading a review on Fine'ry's Jungle Santal last year where the person said it made them feel like they were in Faron in the Zelda game Breath of the Wild. I bought it and learned that I don't like anything called santal, and I strongly disagreed with their assessment. But THIS. This fragrance is that scent. Mystic Figures totally gives me that sense that I'm in a lush, rainy forest. It vividly conjures the image of Faron in my mind. So if nothing else I'm glad I got this to finally satisfy that itch that a reviewer created in me months ago, lol.
