Opens like No.89, but how come it almost gives the impression of Dove bodywash when I stuck my nose close to skin? Further apart, I sense more of an unique floral powder that is lightly veiled, sort of in a high end ballroom of the 80s. Into the heart notes, I get a calming, chamomile tea mixed with jasmine, and clean hotel fabric. My mother would appreciate this type of subtly natural and pleasing scent. Its ok.... no, I actually quite like it, but it leans more towards a feminine fougere. I could imagine how it could be marketed as a premium bodycare and Spa set. Wait a minute....it can't be that simple and end of the story.... Just when I thought my olfactory journey ended, it surprisingly warms up with the most picturesque of florals I had ever experienced in my life. It's like entering a grand salon, well ornamented with decor and porcelain vases, velvet carpet. The guests slowly start pouring in as the day goes by and indulge in their fancy conversations while savoring the soothing and gentle flavors of fine green tea. The Belle Époque that is well captured and finessed by Floris that truly deserves a revival. Sublime 8.2/10 If you have 1962, that ships to Asia, please PM :-)

Really gorgeous fragrance. It opens very bright and fizzy floral, but it pretty quickly dries down to smooth warm scent. This really reminds me of Cafe Tuberosa by Atelier Cologne, which is strange because there is no mention in the scent description of coffee, cocoa, or tuberose for that matter. I suppose it's the combination of violet and narcissus with vanilla and patchouli. Regardless, I love it and if you like Cafe Tuberosa you will too.

at the beginning: an enveloping cloud of aldehydes ... then a heart of powdery sweet-bitter flowers, mostly dusty and very persistent. finally the vanilla arrives. the impression I have is the one that is felt in the Italian lyric theaters of the 1800s when the curtain opens ... at that moment you are assaulted by a dusty sweet cloud that recalls the powder and the heavy makeup of the actors ... and it starts the show...

Floris’ female perfumes are quite educational: they’re light weighted but has structures, which develop in a fast and clear fashion. If you struggle to find WTF "top-body-base" is about, try this one. The slightly chloroprene rubber glue like aldehyde blast at beginning, along with some citrus. Aldehyde quickly fades away, what ensued is a harsh, raw, green vegetal note which I can never tell it’s hyacinth or narcissus . Well in this case, the note pyramid said narcissus. There might even be some inky hints. The citrus somehow is interwoven with an old fashioned fatty-sweet-floral note, reminding me of some chypres but not as strong. A really quiet jasmine slowly raise its head from this floral mixture, then comes the tender mimosa. What a shy little flower! I’m really glad it actually shows up : ) I’d say the quiet jasmine last the longest in this mixture, and it gradually turns to its jasmine green tea side. Ironically, I never sensed one iota of tea in most of the “tea” themed perfumes, but often caught this elusive note along with jasmine or neroli. The “tea” note extend to the drying-down stage, which is just a mix of indistinguishable whispering note.

My first foray into Floris. This is really nice. It doesn’t smell anything like I thought it would though. I own and have smelled several fragrances from the 1920’s and this doesn’t remind me at all of those. This is very modern. It reminds me a lot of the solid version of Lush's Karma, but a bit more floral and sweet-powdery. A lot of patchouli, citrus and powdery florals. Like Karma, I find it to be very comforting, sunny and warm. I'd say that this is perhaps a bit more refined than Karma, but it's so similar that it instantly brought back memories of the year I wore Karma. Karma is a lot less expensive, however, and for that reason I don’t think that this is full bottle worthy.

I really like this perfume: smells very vintage and soapy, it could be a floral fougére, in the vein of Exit the King by Etat Libre d'Orange or Fougére Emeraude by Les Indemodables, or even Sleight of fern by Masque Milano. If you love your barbershop scent bursting with vintage florals, this one does the trick. (very long lasting, with above average projection, for this kind of fragrances)

I mainly get what I assume to be the narcissus note from this, within a DNA which is familiar to me as a user of their No. 89. While I don't think I can pull that off (rose works much better on me) I would definitely be intrigued to meet a woman wearing this. So I really like, and have voted accordingly, but not on myself.

Purchased this at a Floris sale at an exceptional price. Fragrance has a floral, citrus scent and reminds me of a mature fizzy drink (in a good way). Is more of a classic scent than modern but is intended to be a fragrance reminiscent of the 1920s. Only one or two sprays lasts all day on my skin and projects well.

not at all what i was expecting unfortunately. i was hoping for a fragrance i could envision Gatsby wearing at one of his lavish parties...instead i received something Daisy's grandmother might have worn in the roaring 20s. it's a beautiful scent, but it felt more feminine leaning then unisex to me. the Floris London fragrances is most resembles to my nose is Chypress. 1927 is very floral heavy, with the patchouli, musk and vanilla notes being the star players. the burst of citrus only lasted a few minutes in the opening, but even then the florals quickly overpowered it. at 40, this feels like a very mature, feminine fragrance. i could picture Blanche from the Golden Girls spritzing this on before a night out. if you love Chypress, you will probably love 1927 as well. as a US based lover of Floris, i have over 20 Floris London fragrances in my current collection, the 2nd blind buy and this was the first blind buy fail for me, not something i see myself ever reaching for. pretty floral fragrance for a mature, classy dame in my opinion.

I blind bought this when I first started collecting bc I love Floris and was interested in violets - also bc of the stories about 1927. My grandmother was a flapper but she definitely preferred ambery frags when she was older 'youth dew' was her favorite. I haven't tried it in a while. I was paring down my violets and gave this a sniff and a spray. Two thoughts: Wow what a juicy perfume. Yes violets but also super juicy green almost like the green from violet leaf. But also I agree that if this is supposed to conjure up the 1920s I would have expected more smoke. More amber. Something - not this. But it's also so lovely. I really like it and really projects. It's a gorgeous scent violet and bright not fussy to me at all, very lively spring-y and uplifting like a ripe fruit but not sweet. 9.5/10 unisex but leans 'feminine'. And I am not the biggest floral fan. Couldn't see wearing this in colder weather but could see it to uplift mood.
