Edwardian Bouquet

For anyone who is quick to regard a fragrance as smelling "dated" or use uncouth comparisons to old age and, even worse, nursing homes, just move right along. There is nothing for you to smell here. Edwardian Bouquet, especially in this 1984 form, smells antique even for the time of its re-launch, and that's what captivates me. It's rich, it's grand, and it's core is hyacinth and rose in powdered form on a bed of even more powdery oakmoss. It elicits the image of cottage garden flowers in an amphora, displayed on a banquet table, blooms just past their prime, but alluring to the nose in their ever increasing decay and their advancing wilt. You just want to keep smelling their curious finitude and marvel at their fading colors. The galbanum is a pastel color, the soap is embossed with a cameo, and the tender nibbles of longing for a past one's never known comes through in a plangent woodiness and shadowy forest fustiness. The body-heat and nether-region musks, as, after all, babies must be made. Even those who find rapture in the most historic-smelling perfumes must gird their loins for Edwardian Bouquet. A dandy could wear this when feeling a little randy, as the duality between the conservative veil of this bouquet and the secret desires of a convivial society would be just perfect. It seems that a green gown is imminent—'youth is wasted on the young' Shaw (or Wilde?) once said. If so, to Hell with it, embrace the ebbing, fully curled blooms of hyacinths and wear some damn old-fashioned perfume.

I am expecting a FB of this beautiful green and fresh spicy floral from jomashop but it is late arriving so I bought some samples on fragrancenet along with a backup of Floris White Rose. Edwardian Bouquet leans feminine but I would absolutely love this on a man as well. Gorgeous mossy green forest floor opening but as it settles the flowers start to bloom on a bed of velvety moss. Roses, hyacinth, ylang, jasmine, touches of a sweet and fresh spicy orange grove nearby. The dry down is a beautiful powdery green mossy sandalwood amber. This is exquisite. Many will think it is "dated" but if you love shows like Downton Abby you will appreciate the beauty and elegance of this wonderfully crafted perfume. I cannot wait for my FB. Floris is one of my favorite houses. They are keeping their heritage and also creating new beauties for the 21st century like Purple Memoir and Celest as well. Smelling this takes me back to the feeling I got when looking through pictures of European royalty in my encyclopedia Britannica as a child. A very very formal fragrance worthy of royalty.

I have had this one for a week and only now feel comfortable reviewing it. To me, this one is more a chypre than anything else and smells so similar to Lanvin Arpege that the two could be twin sisters. It is so very much the Edwardian fragrance, there is a close kinship with Mitsouko by Guerlain. A cousin perhaps. I have sprayed this one many times over the past week as I have really wanted to find its nuances. Today I did something different, I sprayed it, then followed a little while later with a True Rose fragrance and WOW! Suddenly this is flowery green and utterly beautiful! This fragrance is definitely on for the ages, it is an olfactory time machine with all that a fragrance called 'Edwardian' imparts. Not for the faint hearted, or the modern hearted. I do like it very much and do not regret buying it.

This has been my signature scent for many years. Since the price increased, I unfortunately can't afford to buy it as often as in earlier years. I love the elegance of this scent, the unique combination of fresh, floral and woody- powdery notes. I've never smelled something like it. I love how it lingers on fabric ls like velvet or wool. I was drawn to this scent out of my passion for all things Victorian: I was looking for one of the oldest scents still available with original formula and fell deeply in love with it. In my opinion it's a masterpiece.

I don't care how this is marketed. Guys, don't run away from florals. This stuff is amazing. Dewy garden anchored by a forest feel undertone. A touch of powder throughout. But I rocked this yesterday and loved every second. Mostly a skin scent but almost 7 hours out of it. Beautiful stuff. Shout out the the Fragrantica community. As I received this in a box of samples graciously given by one of the members. Looking forward to diving into that box. This was my first wear and it is amazing.

Vintage powdered oakmoss fleur... A beautiful vintage powdered floral with oakmoss, roses, ylang, creamy sandalwood, hyacinth, & victorian bergamot all wrapped in a green musky amber. It is an amazing vintage blend indeed as i can detect 70s green mossy touch in this beautiful blend. Some people would get a soapy essence, and yes this could be the factor that this blend is based on. Incredibly Beautiful.

Old-school elegance. A British woodland scent and a classic. The hyacinth note is beautifully blended and the base notes—especially moss—give this perfume strength and sillage. This is my favorite in the Floris line and its history in the Floris collection only adds to its appeal. It used to be more affordable, but since it was placed in the Ledger Collection, it has increased in price.

I like this scent a lot. First it's very nice animalic notes on me, and they are gently sunkissed. The scent gradually turns into vintage Fleur à Fleur cologne on my skin, going from its a little soapy beginning to aromatic grass, and then to fresh flowers, nice and wonderful.

Floris Edwardian Bouquet I purchased this fragrance on a whim after finding the EDT heavily discounted. The note list suggested it would be something I’d enjoy, but while I expected to like it, I didn’t anticipate falling completely head over heels. I’m now actively searching for backup bottles of this gorgeous perfume. Edwardian Bouquet is exceedingly elegant and timelessly classic. The opening greets me with a burst of dry green nuances primarily galbanum, hyacinth, and oakmoss. There’s also a brief animalic touch at the start, though it dissipates quickly. As the fragrance begins to settle, soft hints of jasmine and rose peek through. Hours after application, it turns into a gentle woody, powdery veil that feels like a second skin. I adore vintage perfumes, but I often find that unless my outfit, hair, and makeup are just right, certain fragrances feel too demanding or overpowering. Edwardian Bouquet, however, strikes a perfect balance. It delivers that old-school, classic elegance while remaining effortlessly wearable. Soft, refined, and timeless without ever feeling loud or imposing.

Audacious perfume impact. It feels contemporary and conceptual to wear. It's "OLD, classic" - what a modern luxury fragrance nose will reference, at Amouage for example, but here it is straight up, no chaser. So it is beautiful yet conservative and strict. Floral but not florid. I smell the cousinhood to Arpege and this is funkier than Arpege, thankfully. Both of them are fragrances I appreciate like contemporary non-figurative art. I can't enjoy cold witchy Arpege before the dry down, at least 12 hours after the spray! I think I might find earlier pleasures with Edwardian Bouquet. Edwardian Bouquet doesn't relate to today's formulations of early Guerlain classics, to my nose, as those are careful to deliver beautiful, cosy notes all through the wear. It does vibrate like Miss Dior Esprit de Parfum. I believe it will take me about a dozen wears before my nose relaxes. Will the fragrance change as it macerates for a few years?

This is a really lovely perfume, makes me think of clean skin and flowers. Very refined and definitely aristocratic smell. I think it is best worn on a cold day. Normally I am very wary of powdery perfumes. This is powdery, but the powdery smell is so married to florals that it works for me. It is VERY old-fashioned, but so well-made that it does not come off as the dreaded "old lady." For me, it's too distinct and old-fashioned for everyday use, but it's a beautiful perfume to have for occassional use. Such a treat to put it on. It's like entering another world. Very Gosford Park!!

With the first spray it’s obvious this perfume is from another century. The powdery floral composition, Edwardian Bouquet, has that classic feel of the era when women dusted talcum powder to linens and underclothes. It’s what a trunk of trinkets, stowed carefully away smell like the moment you open the box. I pick up green leaves and rose, maybe jasmine too. I know my decant is not the original perfume, but I can only imagine how gorgeous it must be. This is lovely, though not the right fit for me. Recommended for people that miss a simpler time.

I agree with all the other reviews. I will add that in my opinion, this is a 30 and over perfume. I am reminded of Aromatics Elixer by Clinique but much lighter and more refined. I could see this going two ways cool weather and an old fashioned cozy sweater OR for one cool hippie chic. Additionally, the first 2 times I put this on I sprayed it near my face and it gave me a humdinger of a headache (I am very sensitive). Don't put it on your clothes but maybe spray your belly button and rub your wrists on it. =) Problem solved.

Very chanel no.5 old school vibe. Endolic florals with a powdery heart. It's a bit animalic but just enough to bring out the florals nicely. It gives the impression of having soapy clean skin. The performance is also great! It stays on the skin all day. After the floral opening it's very powdery with an aldehyde woody dry down. For the price, I think your getting your money's worth with this one. If you know you want a nice floral, that's not sweet and mainstream, this is perfect.

Daring perfume formulas in the ‘new’ 20th century at the time. No restrictions in the use of ingredients yet. Oakmoss is blended in very well, giving this perfume a good base for floral notes. The floral ‘bouquet’ is in its place, just the right amount of the potentially overwhelming hyacinth, a touch of rose, sparcely used jasmine. The result is a rich and intrigueing perfume. I love history.

Freshly watered hyacinths, flowers and cut stems, with more emphasis on the green stems. Powdery oakmoss emerges as the scent dries down, becomes noticeably muskier. Very old school floral chypre, definitely leans more masculine. Can be layered with sweeter florals to provide a freshly olfactory balance. Best-suited in spring and summer, projects around arms-length.

A boyfriend at the time bought this for me, back in the 90s so I have fond memories. It felt classic and old money. I still love the scent and find some of these reviews to be a little dramatic, but every nose operates differently. It is one of the rare florals I like.

This is a really pleasant fragrance, but to my nose it smells almost exactly like Je Reviens by Worth. Perhaps the teensiest bit muskier and less sharp - but they’re pretty much identical. Only Edwardian Bouquet is far more expensive.

I purchased a still sealed vintage bottle of this scent. It is in excellent condition, with no disintegration of top notes. Whoever had this must have kept it in a great environment ideal for perfume. It came in a royal blue textured box, like burlap but not made of cloth, and trimmed in gold. The manufacturer's label is black and gold, both on the bottle and box. Its strength is labeled Toilet Water, though it performs like a strong edp. The edp of this fragrance, if they made that strength at that time, must have been nuclear because this is almost at that level. I believe this is pre-1984 reformulation or “re-orchestration”, as I have read elsewhere while trying to find out more information about this scent. If anyone can fill me in that this is correct, I'd appreciate knowing. The reason I'd like to know is because this smells a little different than the note profile listed above, and I would like to find out what the original note profile was. For instance, this is animalic and indolic. I get a strong castoreum note in this, yet it's not listed here, and no one else mentioned it either. It's not offensive at all. It adds a lightly sweet leathery accord throughout the scent. It, along with the other animalics and indoles, greatly enriches this perfume giving it depth, fullness, and body. It is the use of these ingredients in my perfume that makes me question whether what I am smelling is the same as what is selling now and what everyone else is reviewing. Whatever the case, what I have here is clearly a quality perfume. I'm willing to bet the majority of ingredients used are real. The oakmoss certainly is and adds a beautiful dimension and earthy mossiness to this perfume. The florals are indolic, heady, and intense and there are no doubt pure absolutes were used. The bergamot is sparkling and rich, but not sharp, and adds brightness, like a ray of sunshine cutting through a forest. Galbanum and patchouli add a refreshing greenness to this mossy, atmospheric floral, with the amber and sandalwood keeping the composition smooth, and the musk adding the softness of a freshly washed and powdered baby. This rich and sumptuous perfume certainly brings to mind another time, so I can understand why some think it's dated. It surely is, but that makes it no less beautiful and unique.

Blind bought this and Floris Cypress as I’m obsessed with the Floris perfume house . I , now own six Floris perfumes. They are all light and well blended , nothing heavy . However , this could be related to my floral choices . My favourite is Night scented Jasmine so I wanted to try all the florals . Edwardian Bouquet seemed to be very popular but I held back sampling due to a few notes that disagreed with me . Overall, it’s a lovely , long lasting floral which starts out beautifully then goes straight into the base notes - dissipates to a strong moss fragrance . I associate moss notes to a masculine fragrance even if it’s blended with floral notes . Shame , it’s not for me , I can’t get over the excessive moss on my skin and I have to agree with one reviewer , it somehow reminds me of urine like a lavatory in a national park .
