273 Red

This is a very good fragrance, especially if you open your heart to it. It has a marked rose in it and I like that. However, there is something a bit pungent and I think it's between the vetiver and the musk - not unpleasant but strong to the nose. I see from the comments that this is one of the lesser noted numbers of Fred Hayman I don't think its a hit for some after 273, Rodeo Drive, which is personally one of my favourites. Anyway, it's a different fruity floral - quite strong. There is nothing offensive and it lasts quite long. My sister didn't like it and gave it to me and I already told the Universe I would have the fragrances it wanted me too, so MORE for me. Like anything else, it's not for everyone so definitely I will say don't blind buy "Red." Perhaps I'll use this on a hot endless summer Caribbean night. Update: I gave this to my father. On him it smells like cool-aid leading down to a creamy amber/vanilla. He thought I gave him a spoiled fragrance because it doesn't smell like "273 Rodeo Drive," which is like the ONLY 273 he knows in his 68 years (excuse YOU daddy my fragrance was freshly given to me by my sister a few months ago because she couldn't stand this "spice bomb" as she calls it). All in all, I thought of taking it back but decided to be the bigger person. Don't miss it, not the type to keep a fragrance with me just for keeping sake when it would suit someone else or I can donate it.

Smells like hairspray upon application, and I don't mean Aqua-net. This is a stale 1950's hairspray with no fragrance added. I was hoping for something else on dry down, but all I got was a faint whiff of peach flavored deodorant. The good thing about it is that I was able to use up my 2.5 ounce bottle in two days and nobody noticed, including me. I bought it from a reputable seller that I've bought from often, so I know it's not a counterfeit. Oh well, at least I still have and enjoy my 273 Indigo.

I really like 273 Indigo and the original 273, but this one just doesn't smell very pleasant. Other people say "rotten fruit". Yeah, I think that's what I'm getting...more specifically rotting peaches that have fallen from the tree and are now spoiling in the hot sun. That's the primary scent this one is giving. The listed notes about look good. They look like something I would have really enjoyed but this isn't it and I would have never guessed those notes based on the smell of this one.

A couple years ago I was "lucky" enough to find a new bottle of this on ebay. I was sure that this one would be awesome both because I love the original 273 and because every other time I have tried a fragrance described as "red" it has gone on to become one of my favorites (Diamonds and Rubies, Charlie Red, Red Door, Giorgio Red, etc). GACK! One spray, and again, upon impact with my skin, rotten fruit! So much rotten fruit! I waited a long time to write this review because I kept hoping I would try it on again and find something beautiful in here. I'm finally giving up. Such a shame.

Scrubber. Ugh. This smells like sour rancid fruit with some musk and sandalwood. It even seems a little smokey in the base, probably from the vetiver. So, someone burned some rotten peaches.
