273 Red

Wow, this is the first fragrance other than Azzaro Elixir that smells like Xeryus Rouge. 273 Red opens with a Diet Kouros civet note that goes away as quickly as it came. About 15 seconds after the initial animalic spray, a red candied, barbershop shaving-cream accord (similar Xeryus Rouge) is revealed. The sweetness and Xeryus Rouge likeness fades a bit and the fragrance gets vanillic and star anise accords near identical to Perry Ellis M for men. There might even be a dash of tamed cinnamon spice in here! I honestly don't know what to say other than I like it and I don't understand how the few reviews of 273 Red online have a negative slant. I will be promoting this fragrance as a wonderful cheapy for newbies to look into. While this isn't usually my type of complaint, the bottle is cheap as hell. The "silver metal" is actually matte plastic and so is the cap.

I can't believe there's only ONE review for this, so far (not counting mine, of course). 273 Red for Men is very bright: mostly berries and amber. And if I liked amber, there wouldn't be any problem. But the amber makes me think of Dial soap! BERRY-SCENTED soap, but still, soap. Maybe I will trade it, not sure yet. But overall, bright, pleasant, and a bit dated.

Berry scented amber hand soap. I don’t see any reason to wear this, even for the price. It doesn’t smell bad, it is just in no way compelling as a wearable fragrance. There is also a cheapness to the fragrance that reminds me of a freshly cleaned $40 roadside motel in 1988.
