Capricorn

I bought this because a) i am a capricorn b) i love by the fireplace dna, had 2 or 3 clones already, but this might be the best. (Emir Camp Fire, Maison Alhambra Smoked Oud & Vanille, and i kind of treat MA 05 Domino Essence as a clone of by the fireplace if you took the smoke out (it clones Babycat actually, but this dna smells to me like that) Will need to come back with full review but after first sniffs i had 2 thoughts: 1)it's stronger than other clones 2) i think i sense something giving me middle eastern vibe. It's still by the fire place dna, so don't imagine typical hard all spice of arabia mashup with skunkiness, no, but while feeling the same smell, same dna as other clones, it gave me feeling 'That's a middle eastern frag'. Will have to fully wear it to explore deeper

I don't believe in astrology anymore but tried a sample of this and it is some sort of magic. Sweet, smoky, holly Christmas bejesus goat with a fish tail, thank you Bronze Age Babylonians for naming that constellation so now, thousands of years later, Dali Izem creates this fragrance. It is sweet resinous, smoky, it gives off fir tree scent. It's not a very complicated fragrance, some might not enjoy this if they haven't had an Eastern european childhood in the countryside where chopping and burning wood in the stove was a task not an experience. I have tried and combined it with something fresh - Lemon Line from Mancera. And now it's alive not just cosy. Love it!

More incense than smoke but the smoke is present. Woody. Nothing groundbreaking but it does smell good. Reminds me of cloisters, of medieval monks. It is studious, reserved, pensive, reflective, mystic. Great for introverts. More masculine in nature but I like it so I am wearing it anyway. Edit: my husband informs me that medieval monks in the small chapels would not have incense as it was prohibitively expensive, thereby ruining that fantasy Further Edit: Don't overspray on this one. Further Further Edit: It is several days later and the smell is still enveloping me in the armchair I sat with it on. It's overpowering the current fragrance being worn.

Smoky and sweet, with a touch of woods. What initially drew me in was the scent profile and its connection to the “By the Fireplace” DNA, which I find interesting, even though it leans quite sweet. I was hoping Capricorn would offer a twist on that idea; something woodier, less sugary, and with more of an incense and smoky vibe, as described by some influencers. And to be fair, it does move in that direction, especially with the incense and smoky aspects. However, for my taste, the sweetness feels very dense and can be a bit cloying if you use more than three sprays. It also comes across as somewhat artificial to my nose. When I’m in the mood for something sweet, I personally gravitate more toward fragrances like Layton, Herod, Ani, or even Althaïr, where there is something lighter and zingier to balance the sweetness and make it feel smoother, more refined, and not so much in your face. Capricorn, on the other hand, has a more linear type of sweetness, lacking something fresh and bright to properly balance things out. All that being said, I have already used it a few times now that it’s winter here in NYC, making sure I’m going light on the sprays and avoiding spraying on the front of my neck or chest. My most recent use was for a cozy fondue night.

This is one of those fragrances that you blind buy becuase CurlyFragrance told you to, in which she did... and I am NOT disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, this fragrance is not for everyone and bears some flaws, but I believe that the positives outweigh the criticisms in this circumstance. Gemini Capricorn is a VERY smoky fragrance, with an absolutely monstrous incense opening note when you spray it initially; this is a flaw of the fragrance, as it is far too powerful and revolves too much around the powerful incense. However, after wearing this on skin for 10 minutes, the other beautiful amber and vanilla notes start to reveal themselves and the fragrance becomes quite soffisticated. I would not wear this one on a date, but as an everyday fragrance to wear at the office or work, this is a lovely pick, depending on your tolerance to incense ;) 7/10

I wrote my first review and shortly thereafter found out I had a brain tumor about the size of a baseball that was causing severe memory and cognition problems; so I don't know what I was thinking at the time, but I was wrong. It does smell exactly 1:1 like By The Fireside. Glad I picked up a bottle in my tumor-addled stupor because I've always been a fan and needed something smokey to round out my wardrobe. I will say that if you're the type of person who believes in macerating, this review comes after I rediscovered I had a bottle of this hiding in the back of my vinyl shelf for 6 or 7 months. I don't know why I left it there.

A sweet, attractive frankincense fragrance with resins adding an almost leathery depth. I expected this to be much darker and smokier, but the smoke is actually more of a whisper in Capricorn. To me it's in the same vein as something like Encens Suave. While Encens Suave is brighter with a high amount of Ambroxan and therefore very pointy, Capricorn is smooth and round with a darker core. Very easy to wear. Good quality at this price point with strong longevity and sillage. Additional note: I appreciate that French Avenue is doing original creations now, I'm generally not a fan of their clone fragrances.

Jury is out on this one but in NO UNIVERSE does this smell anything like By The Fireside. I'll have to drive over to Nieman Marcus and try some Babycat to see. It's STRAIGHT church like the priest just walked past you with the censer on Christmas. I'll let it mature for a bit or whatever word is the correct word maybe it'll get a bit more smokey

Love the Scent Opens and then stays the same, no difference in the dry down. Linear. But smokey incense exactly. The projection so far is disappointing. Im hoping it improves with some maceration. Right now im getting no silage or projection. If it had better performance I would score it a 10. But due to it lack of Im gonna give it a 6.

Nice twist on by the fireplace

When i tell you this is a gem ! Incredible quality for the price , really great scent . Smells smokey and incensy in the best way possible. this is a perfume of Copal !!! Copal is a precious and expensive incense resin from mexico, and this perfume does it so elegantly. Spiced, balsamic and lastly, a little bit sweet. A serious beast, done with extreme success and elegance. it's a bold dna but so much more elegant then any other cloying crap going around ( on both price ends $$ or $$$ ) It has an airy quality to it, it's a masculine beautiful masterpiece. nice find ! I seem to smell frankincense also in the drydown. smells like church in the best way possible... i'm sure who is familiar with perfumes like Toskovat would LOVE THIS WHOLEHEARTEDLY. This is a serious 10/10, did not come to play !

Pisces is the best one out of the 'Genesis' collection and 'Capricorn' comes in second. It's very smoky, woody and nutty. There's a slight sweetness but it's not overdone like in a fragrance such as Lattafa 'Raghba Wood Intense'. 'Capricorn' is a lot more balanced and never enters that screechy, fire-alarm-going-off type of smoke that some of the 'By the Fireplace'-clones can have. It's very dark, brooding and mysterious but not hard to wear at all -- I like it a lot. Longevity is excellent and the scent can be smelled on clothes for days after application.

This is Ameer aloudh, with an incensey opening thats short lived, after the opening you're only left with Ameer Al Oudh plus a slight green note from the fir. Has similarity to majd alsultan too. That's all Not smokey Doesnt smell like baby cat Doesnt smell like incense suave If you live in the UAE, you must have smelled that profile 263758 times. Not a bad fragrance if you don't know Ameer Al Oudh or by the fire place. If you know them, this will be redundant.

A surprising gem that far exceeds its $35 AUD price point. This is a complex, smoky, and resinous composition with impressive longevity and presentation. It occupies a beautiful unisex space; though my partner finds it slightly more feminine, it wears exceptionally well on both of us. It has a mysterious, 'old-world' edge to it—part mystical witch, part 1920s noir gangster. Truly an incredible value for the quality.

I would never go for a fragrance with these notes but, oh my god, this smells so sexy. I can see people hating on this because it is indeed really smoky and rather masculine but I feel so so powerful wearing this for some reason (this perfume is the opposite of my personality and style but idc) Absolutely gorgeous fragrance, if you wanna serve mafia boss (regardless of gender) this is for you

To me this is not Baby Cat, as advertised by some websites. This lacks the sweetness of Baby cat. This is more like Encens Suave / Spicy Amber. Very comforting, cozy, but you have to like Frankincense. Mysterious, dark and unisex.

I don’t see any resemblance to Baby Cat at all. It’s mainly By the fireplace, with a little bit of Encens Suave
