Tobacco D'Feu

To my nose the opening is very very similar to Tom Ford’s Tobacco Oud. A bit less forgiving on the mid, a bit more oriental. It dries down to a warm amber and smoky scent. Very pleasant. Great performance. If you can stand the animalic mid, this could be your alternative to the sadly discontinued Tobacco Oud. Over all, a 4.5/5 :D

Nose Note #156 The first 3-5 minutes it's absolute torture. One of the most revolting things I've. Not the tobacco-mandarin combo you would expect. If this is tobacco, then it's the chain-smoker's twenty years old car-ashtray. No tangerine-mandarin, maybe a tiny hint when it develops That being said. After 5 minutes it actually starts to become very interesting. Hard nut. The definition of a niche fragrance - meaning not for everyone Upd. after three months: It grew on me. I think that in a way it's a heads up to the old school with its oriental elements. Now I definitely find it pleasant. Interesting blend, amazing quality, performance and price. Not a blind buy, but if you know what you are getting into, you may like it a lot.

People here are very harsh. It’s fair to say I have a tolerant nose and thought I call a spade a spade. This is a gorgeous dry fresh cigar smell, full stop. I saw a comparison to Byredo Tobacco Mandarin praising its virtues over this as the original. I find Tobacco Mandarin extremely expensive and completely boring with meh performance. This is a great buy if you like a straight forward tobacco, which I do, this is very much in the vein of Atelier Cologne Tobacco nuit - a caramelised dry sweet slightly ashes blonde tobacco. Try layering this under V&R Spicebomb - it’ll blow you away...

Tobacco, smokey incense lane. Evening formal, cold weather. 4 stars, moderate across the board. I like the mandarin opening - a statement - you will smell different than so many others . Yes, I can enjy it. Smells like a Gentlemen.

The note breakdown was appealing to me, so I decided to give this a try. When I first used it, the scent profile was exciting; it was really reminiscent of “fall.” It was airy but, at the same time, dry, and a slight darkness was there, which was, for me, a real definition of “fall.” Have to tell you, this perfume on skin gives really different vibes compared to when sprayed in the air: on skin, it doesn’t give me that airy, fresh oud type of smell, but in the air it’s very prominent. I like the aromatic undertone it goes really well with the oud but the opening gives me a sour scent profile, probably caused by cumin. The performance is what makes it a REALLY MID perfume for me. I get, like, maybe 5–6 hours on skin; even if I oversprayed, it didn’t really help much, and for me it’s a skin scent and the projection wasn’t good. Maceration didn’t really help the scent either, as I let it sit for 2–3 months. I do like the notes here individually, but when put together in this perfume, I just found it mid. Gives me a really old grandpa type of profile.

An update to my previous review. This smells like utter shit. Basically just cumin. Utter mess of a fragrance that will NOT get you compliments. I compared this with the OG Byredo TM and they do NOT smell alike. So disappointing considering French Avenue have produced some absolute bangers ....Liquid Brun but to name a few. Stay away from this crap.

For £35.00 this isn’t so bad. This is a fairly decent dupe of Byredo Tobacco Mandarine. However, it’s perhaps a little cumin heavy. The Byredo is definitely sweeter and the mandarine is more noticeable. The dry down is quite sour and all I smell is cumin which is a little unpleasant.

I haven't smelt the OG. Just for your approximate reference, this somewhat smells like a darker Mancera Red Tobacco mixed with sour body odour - but an idealised, palatable version of sour body odour - an olfactive representation of physical exertion. There's no obviously-perceptible mandarin here; the supposed mandarin simply gives an overall slightly sour tinge to the entire composition of dark 'red' tobacco and sweat (cumin). Fall appropriate. Completely masculine. I like this fragrance as a personal home fragrance (I wouldn't wear this in public). Judging by most reviews below, I'm the odd one out and most will think this smells like shyte. When wearing this, you'll probably smell like you're covering mild sour body odour with a dark tobacco fragrance. IMO you'll smell good overall, but like you're simultaneously sweating. Paris Corner Vibrant Spicy Tobacco is also a supposed clone, although it's made to be less polarising (more mass-appealing). Both the 'red' tobacco and the cumin are noticeably more prominent and punchy in this French Avenue clone than in the Paris Corner clone. I much prefer this French Avenue clone. The Paris Corner clone smells watered down or muted in comparison; designed to be less polarising but losing its punchy, gritty, masculine appeal in the process, and ultimately smelling a bit boring. If you like cumin (sweat), you may also like Paris Corner Overdose Killer Oud (cloning Amouage Overture Man). I think production is discontinued but there may be old bottles floating around. Overture Man DNA is cognac + cumin (i.e. cognac + sweat; which is essentially a spring-time amber + sweat) and is brighter (spring appropriate), whereas this Tobacco Mandarin DNA is a slightly-soured and darker 'red' tobacco (e.g. a darker Mancera Red Tobacco) + cumin, and is darker (fall appropriate). Both are masculine, not unisex. FYI I haven't smelt the OG of either.

Very linear simple scent. S.ells like a straight up unlit cigar Oddly clean in that it smells like a fresh cigar not second hand smoke but yes, it is definitely tobacco. Don't get this unless that's what you want. What I will say is that it makes a good layering scent. I have vanille by laura mercier and I sometimes spray a very light amount of dfeu as a Base. Vanille is very light and has poor projection, adding this to the base gives it a little more depth and oomph. It adds a little richness to gourmands that need a kick
