Linnaeus

review from my wife Linnaeus by Fueguia 1833. Cardamom sibling to Tagore, but by no means a twin. For me, it's more woody, less dreamy, and incredibly comforting. Right from the start, it exudes the scent of fresh-cut cedar wood, with its milky heartwood. Next, there's the roughness of cardamom, a hint of tickling ground ginger, and a slice of juicy, resonant bergamot. Later, the unmistakable aquatic notes of green coastal grasses emerge, with a hint of vetiver lingering. Like bulbous plants preparing for planting or, conversely, going to sleep until the new season - the greenness of stems is reminiscent of tulips or perhaps daffodils. Closer to the base, the perfume takes on a woody character - the sound of cedar and vetiver becomes somewhat dry, a soft woodiness akin to guaiac wood appears, and a drop of enveloping resin, almost white frankincense, melts into the skin with a subtle smokiness at the finish. This perfume is executed flawlessly and possesses a classic balance of notes. It's easy to imagine it on a modern-day Mr. Darcy or a lady who loves wearing items from the men's wardrobe. And when, after many hours, you feel like "The Northern Pliny" has left you, it's just an illusion. It lingers in the long trail behind you. A natural sophisticated aromatic scent designed as a tribute to the Swedish botanist who invented the modern classification system for plants and animals. The scent opens with aromatic notes of cardamom and ginger. The heart is all olibanum. The scent settles on a base of nice rooty vetiver and musk mallow. The masculine leaning scent is light, refreshing and has moderate sillage and projection. Classy without being overpowering, this is a scent best designed for warmer weather for discerning gents.
