Emporio Armani Lui

I regularly come back to this masterpiece. Shortly, it is woody-aromatic to my nose. I wouldn't say citrusy because citrusy may recall zesty sharpness. Like mildly sweet lemon and not like grapefruit. Very warm, soft, clean. First time I've used it in 2001 before high school, and fell in love as a teenager. After 22 years, I still have not smelled anything like it, so big thumbs up for this unique creation. It's a very complex, rich, yet light (lasting) scent in my opinion. As said, I don't get the crisp citrusy notes but rather it's a well blend of oakmoss/coumarin/sandalwood with lots of musks for the base, cardamom seed, lavender, nutmeg and a good dose of ionones (violet and iris ingredients, same vein in the mid-drydown of CH 212 Men of the same era). Pineapple, lemon citrusy top. As I said, it smells complex even though the formula may not be complex, I can get notes or ingredients much easier in many other frags, but not on this one - signs of a good blend that emerges to new horizons. Everything combined, makes an "Armani Lui" smell. Longevity: 3-4 sprays goes for 7-8 hours Projection: People notice even after 5 hours, projects well but lightly, not in your face. It makes other people breathe in deeper to catch waves of it. Sillage: Not sure. I wouldn't say it leaves a heavy trail. Age: 25+ Popularity: I'm loving it that it is not super popular anymore as it was in 2000s Overall: 9/10

I remember first smelling this in those magazine ads they'd have in GQ and such and instantly falling in love. I went pretty much after my shift and bought this. It was my feel good scent. It wasn't my heavy hitter, at that time I had d&g by, Gucci envy and versace black jeans for times I wanted to be noticed. Then as now emporio is strictly for me. It's a mood enhancer. It's not generic nor boring. The Scent is very classy, and develops beautifully during its 7-8hr lifetime. It starts with a burst of fruity apple, yuzu, pineapple with a hint of rose. It dries down very woody with hints a musk and moss. A very masculine scent without being brash. Some complain about projection, but the thing is not all scents are made to be loud. This is meant to stay within 6 inches of you so those close can experience it. It has good longevity and its projection and silage stay constant throughout unlike some that have monster projection for 2 hours then die to a skin scent. This is now back in my collection and im glad, it brings back great memories and is my perfect spring scent. 8.5/10

This was my very first fragrance back in 1998, I wore it religiously and gain attention from a lot of girls and now, after 12 years, it seems like yesterday and we meet again just to remind me of those wonderful times and why I enjoyed that masculine smell so much. I still think it's a classic & timeless combination of notes which I find, even now, very hard to explain: it has fruits and aromatic herbs, it's spicy, flowery and musky-woody all together, it's....a truly wonderful fragrance,the best from Armani male offerings, appropriate for all ages and occasions. The sillage and lasting power are indeed moderate (5-7 hrs, on an acid skin like mine), but really, who cares when it feels so good and it tends to stay hidden just to reveal itself when you expect less and even for that I love it. I'm glad I bought this again with the promise that we will never be apart again, and keep it close to me and my top 5. My humble rank: 9.5/10. ☣☣☣☣☣

Emporio Armani Lui opens freshly with its fruity notes and sage. It immediately feels clean and slightly powdery yet contemporaneously sharp due to the citrus notes. The oak moss and cedar give this perfume a natural woodsy feel and the florals are very unassuming. There is also a slight musk that seems to pop in and out. It's all quite inviting. This is the first perfume I ever purchased, and it's still my favourite. Emporio Armani Lui has a clean, masculine, and sophisticated tone that every lady in my life has loved. There is something sweet, warm, and charming about it. I remember taking walks at night, while she would intermittently turn to hold me tightly to take a big sniff. She loved that it was close to skin because it was solely for her to enjoy. The longevity and sillage are a little weak, but this perfume has a well-behaved fruit melange with powdery-freshness that can be worn any time & anywhere.

I LOVE this cologne. I’ve worn it since around 2000/2001. It’s been my go-to cologne, even nowadays when it’s become hard to find. My wife now, and even some of my exes knew this cologne the second they smelled it and the reaction has always been positive. I’ve received compliments from friends at work and passersby on not only how good it smells, but also how smooth and non-overpowering it is. Now that it’s become so hard to find, I’d like to find what colognes come closest to this one, or at least what Georgio Armani has made to replace it.

I have only positive experiences with this! I remember guys who smelt good was wearing this during my High School years. This is very nice! I think most girls/women would enjoy this on a guy. I have complemented many guys when wearing Armani Lui (and I'm a girl who really appreciates men that smell good). Yesterday I walked behind a guy at the subway wearing this and I felt like a stalker, because whenever he moved I followed his track just to get another whiff of this. Haha! Luckily we don't have eyes in the back of our head ;)

This used to be a banger and I used as my signature night time club scent. The current formula isn't as strong (probably because oak moss is limited by IFRA) but still good. New formula has much more citrus probably because it's cheaper than the base notes. I still wear this from time to time and it still gets me compliments. The orris, cardamom, sandalwood, cedar and amber work really well together. This is one I like to keep in my collection but when it runs out I think I'm done. The new formula doesn't do this juice justice.

This is still a fantastic fragrance, I used to work in a department store, and had to dress very formally, this used to fit the bill. It's a wonderful, versatile fragrance that's perfect for casual use, or for formal/dates. It is very sophisticated, very sensual, incredibly well blended. The sandalwood note is decadent, very masculine. It was never a big performer on my skin, so I'd say nothing much has changed. I still love the bottle, and feel of the fragrance. It's a must have, even now.

Clean, fresh, soft and well blended fragrance. The smell itself is great, good for everyday use in the spring and summer seasons both for work and weekends. Will not offend anyone with this one. The fragrance is 20 years old yet it's still modern and sophisticated to this day and is perfect for the refined gentleman. Performance leaves a lot to be desired as it lasts for 3-4 hours. Overall I love it. Love it for its softness and tenderness.

I do not give long form reviews, but I simply have to say... If you are not in possession of a Cosmair bottle, you are missing a truly magnificent experience. Over 25 years passing for this vintage and I can still remarkably make out 95% of the notes. Chesco may be quite hyperbolic in his review, but I have owned every single Lui iteration/flanker.. he is spot on. Steven Grlscz from The Wisdom of Crocodiles wears this.

Smells great and really masculine, but it has like 1-3 hours of longevity and the sillage is bad. I bet if you over spray it with 11+ sprays the longevity and sillage will be dubbled, but since this is discontinued nobody would probably over spray. Wish i could have this as my signature scent but since it barely exists anymore and is rare, i wouldn’t be using it and just be storing it in my collection.

I buy it again just to get back old memories from early 2000... Timeless perfume,elegant masculine. For me very special scent,so much nostalgic thoughts. In that times i've had He and my wife had She.So we argue then which is better.Haha,great perfume,but i think it's pretty wattered. Bottle shape is unique.I was so sad when i realise that this new batch doesn't last.Very weak performance,such a pity.

This is just a grand slam for my DNA. This smells like a classic man. Its the sterling silver of scents. Very masculine but extremely refined. Do an image search of 1950s Marlon Brando. That's how this smells. Rugged but refined. Dangerous but composed. A gentleman in the streets but a BEAST in the sheets. This is driving a black muscle car in a black suit & tie.

Starts with barber SOPPY (not SOAPY )hand, in countries like Mexico, Africa, and India usually barber use millions shaving cream on hands and that sums up one sweet barber soppy hand fragrance...dry down its a magical fragrance...pretty close to skin not for flamboyant personalities ...for less talkers and more walkers ....good one Armani

Emporio armani He used to be my most favorite fragrance. I used it everyday before. There are scents that I used to like before but i can't see myself using it now & liking it now the way I used to. However, this is one of those scents that I can still see myself using it even now.

A fantastic, light and safe, yet masculine scent that draws your nose in. Dry, woody, musky, suedelike combined with greenish yuzu and a slight barbershop sent. Fresh, clean, masculine, addictive. Safe enough for day / work and interesting for night / date.

This one is great for summer times. The green notes in this fragrance are giving your body a real fresh boost. My favorite notes in this one are the woody notes especialy cedar. The smell of fresh cut grass is also nice. All said a stayer for me.

I literally made a fragnatica account to make this comment rn I was looking for a armani mania alternative and this suits perfectly the scent is awesome but it is really weak and diluted which is terrible wish they sold a edp version of this

Easily one of Armani's best colognes. The scent is absolutely gorgeous, elegant, and very classy. A softer, more subdued beauty than its older, spicier brother, Armani Mania. Longevity is moderate and sillage is moderate.

Man. Fuck emperio armani for making such a nice perfume that lasts for 30 minutes the longevity and silage is non existent but the smell races with everything in the industry rn.

Love at first sniff! The fragrance that got me to appreciate fragrances. Underrated gem that can be used in all occasions. Ladies will love it! Compliments galore!

Despite the lengthy note list, this is an amzingly well-blended and very rich scent. Thanks, Natt for the sample! :-) Along with the usual citrus melange (bergamot, grapefruit and mandarin) this adds some tart green apple and juicy pineapple, but doesn't stop there. Sage gives it a dry greeness and cardamom smooths and warms. Much more luxurious than a typical citrus scent to me. The dry floral heart is subtle and warmly elegant with the sprinkling of nutmeg. The finish is warm, woody and oriental with just enough powdery soapiness to make it clean, but still sexy, and very manly with a subtle sweet spiciness. Sillage: quite good Longevity: good Overall: 3.5/5 I always hated it when people said "Nice, but no _____"; however, this is a classy scent and obviously Armani, but (to me) nothing to write home about. I have six other Armani mens scents and one women's (Code), and they are all a bit better than this IMHO. But the longer it develops on my skin, the better it gets, so: Not quite a love, but more than a like! For the right (bargain) price, I would add a FB of this to my collection.

Back in 1999 I had a crush on a girl who wore the Emporio Armani for women. She & I weren’t meant to be because she was moving away but before she left she gave me what was left of her bottle of perfume so I could smell it and remember her. Not long after I bought the Emporio Armani men’s fragrance and it was very similar but with a more masculine feel. When I wore it I smelled nice and I was reminded of this girl. Fast forward to 2022 and I found this fragrance at Costco for relatively cheap. The smell takes me back to 1999 and even though so much has happened in both of our lives since then, the flood of memories associated with this fragrance bring a huge smile to my face. Are there better fragrances out there? Yes there is. Do I own fragrances that are probably better than this one? Yes I do. But between this and Dolce & Gabbana (the OG) I don’t think any other fragrances will make me feel the way that this one does. On the nostalgia factor it’s a 10 out of 10 for me but this rating is COMPLETELY biased.

Although I snob Armani, I remember my brother had this when I was a teenager and I really loved the smell. The smell itself is great, i would recommend it for professional, clean men. Problem being that the sillage is weak, and although it lasts a long time it need to be reapplied often, otherwise you're press your nose to you arm just to smell it. If you can get the 3.4oz for $40-55au I suppose it's worth it. Olive skinned men need avoid, as the paler skinned men wear it well, but it doesn't react as well on olive skin.

My memories of this scent goes back a long way. I remember I've been impressed by it 7 years ago. Time has passed, things got in the way and I've only bought it at the beginning of this year. Frankly, it's just how I remember it to be. This is my favorite scent from the Armani designer range. It's fruity and woody, slightly sweet, warm, classy, well composed and when I wear it, I feel elegant. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 6/10

Wow am I disappointed. I still have a bottle of the original that has been my special occasion cologne for years. I heard it was getting hard to find to i grabbed a new one. Its not the same thing. At all. The new stuff barely even has a scent. It's ridiculous. Hopefully i can get a refund. I'm leaving a good rating because the real stuff is amazing. The current formula isn't even worthy of a Walmart bathroom

This was such a guido/clubbing scent back in the early 2000's. I got it again recently and, it is exactly as I remember. A Fresh, Woody, Spicy fragrance that doesn't smell dated. Very masculine and well done. To those who posted before me, complaining about reformulations and longevity, I don't know, for me it lasts a good number of hours and I don't see where the smell is different.

It's clean, masculine and good by any means. Has my favorite top notes and gets me compliments from my partner. IF she can smell it... because I don't know if it's a thing with recent re-release but it fades away quickly (2 hours max). also doesn't linger at all. I almost feel bad for the money I spent on it, though I still occasionally use it because it's a confidence booster.

It's probably too good for this - but I keep a bottle of this on a little shelf by my desk at work, and sometimes give myself one little spray in the morning when I arrive. I smell nice and fresh all day. Its a lovely scent, perhaps a little generic and inoffensive (which is a good thing in this case), hence why I keep a bottle on-hand in the office...

I think this scent has its strong roots in the past - these woody classics of the real gentlemen. Balanced with all these fresh herbs and green notes it gives up it's cedar to be ALMOST yet another common fragrance for men with no charisma. Buy it if you have to, but it is overpriced. Have it on your path to the real stuff - a learning curb. 7/10

First 30 minutes: clean fresh smell of High Quality. The iris and yuzu citrus give you energy....If you overspray, you'll smell sandal wood only (I guess)... After 30 minutes: nothing left. No fragrance. The only fragrance in my collection with a lifespan of 30 minutes.... I bought it from a reputable phyisical store.

Make sure to buy the 'Made in France' one. Even though it ain't the same as the one I bought in the late 90's it's still the best version. And yes, it has been reformulated. The woody notes aren't as prominent to the one from 1998. It remains a terrific fragrance, classy, masculine and elegant. For day and night.

what can i say ? just amazing nice gorgeous perfect perfume i ever had before and always reuse it again and again when using it in winter nights its gives you special warm and happiness and makes you wann fly and keep going whatever happened !!! its Emporio Armani gentlemen

Mostly wood with citrusy freshness. Smells good. It is a bit harsh as woody fragrances can be. Very masculine. I think of a leather jacket type of guy when I smell it. But I suppose it would work with a dark suit also.

I had buy my First bottle back in 2000. GREAT! And I buy another one in 2016. The scent is there but so weak! Too bad, reformulation really take somethnig from this masterpiece. Scent 10/10 Silage 6/10 Longetivity 5/10

Lovely stuff and has a very smooth top and drydown. However, it doesn't last much at all as some others have hinted at. Even on a warmer day, the juice has not lasted any longer than a couple hours on my skin.

I had this fragrance a while ago. I remember liking the scent, but I also vaguely remember it not lasting very long. I wouldn't mind revisiting this fragrance in the future just to see if my memory is correct.

This is a classic for a reason! Emporio Armani Lui is sophisticated and masculine without being overpowering. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it, and it lasts all day long.
