Hudson Valley

I see there seems to be a notion that this is a feminine leaning fragrance. I can understand that but to me this is a perfect unisex fragrance. Hudson Valley for me is cleanliness. I don't agree with the notes on fragrantica and looking at Gissah's website we see the following: (which I also don't fully agree with i.e. grapes & bergamot) Top Notes: Black grapes, Bergamot, Rose Heart Notes: Guaiac wood, Jasmine, Patchouli Base Notes: Amber, Cedarwood, Musk For me, the florals bring this clean and calm element to this fragrance. Amber comes shortly after making things warm. The woodiness is what allows me to say that this is just as much for men. Florals and woods, perfectly contrasting each other. I

One of my all time favourite fragrances! Definitely not suitable for wearing on a flight or in a small space with others as the sillage and projection are a beast. Out of all my fragrances this always gets compliments. The scent bubble lasts all day and I still smell it on jackets plucked out of the wardrobe I wore weeks ago. It’s fresh, yet warm, it’s elegant and floral. Definitely walks the fine line of unisex but for me definitely more feminine leaning. Word of warning though there are lots of fakes out there of all the Gissah’s, so find a trusted retailer who guarantees authentic products, especially if buying outside the UAE . This is a fresh, spicy, sweet fragrance with an incredible rose scent. As a man who loves rose fragrances, I find this to be the perfect unisex. I understand why people think it leans feminine, but the reactions I get wearing this fragrance are a small reason as to why I like it. Opening: Sweet spicy and almost juicy Middle: Strong rose and saffron combination Dry down: Ambery sweet and fresh Great for layering with Imperial or La Luna from this line, and for gents, mix this with YSL myself or Versace Eros (flame) and watch the magic

A friend from kuwait was very generous and sent this to me after I mentioned my interest in fragrances he was raving about it after checking some reviews online I was worried as a male it'd be to feminine but I can confidently say it's not it does lean a little more feminine but as a man I don't think you'd have any issue pulling this off so if that's what's stopping you from buying the fragrence don't let it other then that it's super seductive and on my first day wearing it to class (college) I got a compliment

This scent is the most amazing scent I own, and I have over 500 bottles. It never fails when I wear this out I get multiple compliments. It is very fresh out of the bottle, but then develops into something a little more complex. But it is so money and sophisticated. Hands down and within 24 hours of first spraying it on, it became my signature scent. Gorgeous, mysterious, soft yet loud and absolute beast mode without being offensive. I cannot say enough good things about this fragrance.

This was my Gissah first love. I have tried a few others like La Luna, Imperiale, Capri, etc but this one was the chosen one as to me this smelled the most feminine. This is feminine and beautiful, it’s loud but in an elegant way. Silage and performance are awesome. Really really good for the price, considering you get 200 ml. Don’t even start on the packaging, very luxurious and exquisite.

I like this! It was a blind buy for me; my curiosity about this house was really eating at me so I gave in and took a chance on full bottle. My fears before Hudson Valley arrived were that it would be an ambroxan bomb (as so many fragrances seem to be these days), or that would be way too heavy on the saffron, or that it would another rendition of the pleasant-but-repetitive Arab rose type scents I’ve smelled before (e.g. Rose D’Arabie), or it would just be a rosy spin on BR 540. Well, surprise, it’s none of those things! The opening is warm and spicy, almost masculine for about 30 seconds. Then the rose emerges and just behind the rose, a whisper of sparkling fruits. The warmth and spiciness lingers but the rose is center stage, and the fruits are just present enough to keep things bright. This balance persists for quite some time, but eventually the spicy warmth takes over for the remainder. I find this phase to lean a bit more masculine, but it’s cozy and sensual. Hudson Valley is crowd pleasing without being ordinary, a very hard line to toe. It is perfectly unisex IMO — I see why some might feel it leans feminine, but the spiciness gives the experience a touch of masculinity. This fragrance definitely has a sensuality about it and would be a lovely date night scent. I would be drawn to this in autumn and winter the most, but I think it could be enjoyed at night in any season. It would be far too much in the sweltering daytime sun of the summers where I live. I have many rose perfumes in my collection and Hudson Valley doesn’t remind me of any of them. I will get a lot of wear out of this which is fortunate because the bottle is HUGE. I think if I’d had the opportunity to smell this before buying I still would have purchased it, which makes this a successful blind buy for me. I wish it was easier to get my hands on samples from this house, I’d love to try more.

I can pick out the blackcurrant in this, there’s a definite fruitiness to Hudson Valley. It’s extremely well blended and harmonious from initial spray onwards. It smells very “east meets west” leaning slightly more western, in my opinion. Hudson Valley smells to me like when you enter the fragrance area in a high end department store, a combination of many beautiful fragrances all at once. I do not, however, consider this perfume a powerhouse. I found the sillage and performance just ok, maybe average to above average. Very comparable to most run of the mill designer fragrances. The scent has an initial punch and for a short time I can smell it on myself as I walk if I spray before leaving the house, but it’s not long before this subsides dramatically. Another difficultly is it’s hard to review this fragrance fairly as a customer who paid reseller prices. I would purchase this, and likely other Gissah scents directly from a retail outlet in a heartbeat. I’m not enthusiastic to try more at UK reseller prices though. I think a crucial thing to remember about Gissah is that it’s actually a very low priced brand in its domestic market. £75ish for a 200ml bottle in the Middle East is far from a high end brand, if the house was based in the UAE rather than Kuwait I suspect the price would be even lower. It’s a large bottle at a cheap price point in a region that doesn’t shy away from having a strong fragrance - to me this makes it clear it’s designed as an everyday perfume you can overspray and top up continuously without really caring, as it wasn’t expensive. It’s lovely but didn’t blow my mind, for me personally I find it just slightly of a higher calibre than commercial Middle Eastern fragrance brands that sell for considerably less.

Heard the big buzz in Saudi Arabia about this brand, so asked a friend coming from there to bring me a bottle of Hudson Valley; which is their second best hitter after Imperial Valley. It is a newly established, fast rising Kuwaiti brand (not sure why Frangrantica listed it under Saudi Arabia!), they ARE NOT a clone brand, they have some amazing creations, each one is suppose to resemble a special story; that is where the brand's name came from. Gissah in Arabic means 'Story' or 'Tale'. Their perfumes has insane projection and longevity, comes in gigantic 200 ml bottles, which should last for ages with such crazy performance. Value for money wise, it is a great bargain Hudson Valley is a fruity floral ambery woody musky perfume (in that particular order according to my nose), it is fruity floral bom, Can't say it reminds me of anything i smelled before. It is very formal and commanding scent, big statement maker. This is not an everyday scent nor suitable for the office - too loud. It is balanced between middle eastern and french styles of perfumes leaning more on the oriental side. Too feminine for my taste, the bottle went straight to my wife's hands. A good introduction for me to this brand, looking forward to try Imperial Valley next.

Important distinction - Hudson Valley and Hudson Valley II are different. I’ve now tried both. Hudson Valley II - pale yellowish coloured liquid. Typically in the Valleys set. It’s not available direct from retailer in my country so I’m not sure if they do the large 200ml bottles in Hudson Valley II but resellers don’t seem to have this. I can pick out the blackcurrant in this. Fresh, fruity floral amber with a slight woodsy note. It smells like walking into Harrods or a similar high end department stores perfume section. I suspect it’s a fragrance that suits all weathers and times of day. Hudson Valley - deep apple juice coloured liquid. Smells like a darker, heavier version of HV II. I get more spice and wood and less floral/fruit. This version is much better suited to evenings and/or cooler weather for my personal taste. I prefer HV II personally but I’ll leave HV alone for a while and see how I feel about it in September/October time.

Very nicely composed, unfortunately it does not seem to last on my skin as long as other readers experience. I have other Gissah frangrances that do perform well on me, especially Imperial Valley (my personal favorite). This is a light, fresh floral with underpinnings of wood - at least on my skin. A “like” but unfortunately not “a love”. Might be my skin chemistry

Starts very clean smelling, like a fruity fabric softener. After a few hours it grows a little darker and resinous, but the fruity note from black current is prominent until the very end. The sillage and performance is good, though the scent itself is rather ordinary.

Not as warm spicy as I was expecting but the fruit and floral is prominent with amber running through. I enjoy this fragrance and I use it often as a layering scent.

not sure how to feel about this one, its definitely heavy in the nose a bit, one-2 sprays are enough.

Beautiful saffron floral with berries. Unique and easy to wear all year around.

The opening is FAR from unisex, smells like a boquet of florals, like perfumes my gran would have worn back in the day. As it dries down it becomes a bit more unisex, but still leans feminine. I’m all up for unisex fragrances, but this isn’t the one.

i like this perfume, its lighter than what I usually like. but nice for days where I'm coming out of a shower and don't want to smell overpowering. very feminine, and lovely for going out if layered w bakhoor.

Why does this smell like air freshener for the bathroom - don't understand the hype with the Gissah perfumes.

Very synthitic and full of amberwoods which makes it last forever and project like there is no tomorrow. I sprayed one one my wrist from a an official sample that was given to me and was amazed by how invasive it is. If you do not care about the art of perfumery and would like to have a beast mode fruity bubblegum experience then here is your perfect choice.

this was such a disappointment. i expected it to be more sweet and ambery but all i got was watered down saffron. this fragrance is $100+ and it barely has any body. the most flat, soulless middle eastern fragrance i have ever smelled. put it right next to paris corner in a blind sniff and i promise you no one will be able to tell the difference.

Its a beautiful Arabic scent specially for people who aren’t used to Arabic scents. But unfortunately it is unwearable, it gives a headache and even after trying to wash it off, it’s still there. Not a safe blind buy at all.

This fragrance house is an absolute star in the making. I’ve been collecting for over 25yrs and this house is making a bold statement that everyone needs to have one or all of their frags in their collection. My wife purchased the Helen Frost body spray and this thing is absolutely nuclear. She sprays it on , and still 3 hrs later I can still smell her in the room although she’s long gone and at work. When she ran out of the Body Spray , I’m not even kidding - I smelled this in her hair for 3+ weeks !!!!! Again this is just the body spray which are known to be weaker. Their Hudson II is an absolute powerhouse. The only way to describe this would be similar to Layton in that it feels like a European frag with an Arabic base. It is NOT like Layton - but it combines the best of both worlds like Layton does. My wife loves wearing my Hudson II and as with Helen Frost , I can smell her hours after she leaves the house. She recently came home after 8hrs of work and when she opened the car door , I asked if she had sprayed it again because I got slapped with the beautiful cloud the moment she got out. I was stunned to see the bottle was still on the bureau but I couldn’t figure out how it’s possible that 8hrs later- it still smells like she just sprayed it. Long story short - you all NEED Gissah in your roster and Gissah, please stop playing games and start shipping outside the gulf countries. You’ve had enough time - y’all have plenty of stores , now let’s take this international!!! The eBay sellers are gouging us, please start shipping lol

I got the valleys set and really wondering if I got a fake...all I’m getting is some sharp saffron and cold patchouli and amber. Smell’s similar to, but not as sweet as, Elie Saab in White. No blackcurrant, no sweetness, no rose at all, and an almost nose piercing muskiness...worse still, it’s a skin scent after 2-3 hours! Production date is Jan 2024, am wondering if maceration will make any difference to this. Almost smells like a cleaning product, really rather disappointing as I’m wondering what all the hype is about - I smell nothing attractive or very feminine just an almost headache inducing acrid type musk accord (similar to the one in Fleur Narcotique and Valaya.) Absolutely in love with the presentation and the atomisers but the juice in all 3 in the set is pretty crap at this point...hoping they get better

Lowkey blindbuy safe lmao, it's super fresh but it has a light sweetness which makes this one smell like heaven lmao, could be a woman fresh designer type of a scent but the saffron give this a smoothness. This is how i thought baccarat was gonna smell before i smelt it. It's fresh like ysl y, tropical like ysl libre/ mugler angel, creamy like soleil blanc and leaves a nice scent trail like baccarat, but not being as offensive lmao!! My friend said it smelled like Xerjoff More than Words in the deep drydown? can't see that but that probably means that the rose is dominant, but i can't really sense it, more like a white floral saffrony sweet light scent. THIS IS WHAT AN ANGEL WOULD WEAR, GUY OR WOMAN DOESN'T MATTER

This perfume is an absolute SHOWSTOPPER. The first initial spray is very unisex, almost masculine. As this sits on the skin the sweetness comes through and it begins to lean more feminine. Absolute powerhouse of a perfume. 5-6 sprays and you’re taking out the whole house when you walk in. I wore this on a trip I was recently on and a woman literally grabbed me and demanded to know what I was wearing she said she had never smelled anything like this before. Never had that happen with any other perfume other than Guidance by amouage. With Guidance being one of the strongest perfumes on the market right now, I would say this one comes in at a hard second place.

the projection this perfume has is insane, people smell it soooo far away from me and always compliment me on it. it’s very strong and powerful so sometimes it can give me a headache, 1 or 2 sprays is definitely enough. to me this perfume is soo fresh and fruity, i can smell the blackberry and saffron the whole time and once it dries down subtle rose comes through. it’s so beautiful. it’s a little citrusy to me too, even though that’s not included in the notes. i’d describe this as a fresh, fruity, slightly spicy heaven 🌿🫐

Very strong, very Arabic style. Got compliments first time wearing. You get the strong blackcurrant note with spice and patchouli. I would have liked to detect the mid notes of rose more. While it’s unisex it’s definitely too masculine leaning for my liking. I am saving this for special occasions as it’s too much for everyday.

براند قصه الكويتي One of my favourite perfumes! I don't usually like warm spicy scents but this one stands out it smells sooo good!!! and it works really well with layering, and don't get me started with the LONGEVITY it's one of the best Middle Eastern Brands in my opinion 💕

This now has a second flanker after Hudson ll, Hudson Amora. The third one is absolutely feminine just looking at the red ombre bottle and the borderline fruity body wash scent. They changed the bottle format again this time it's ombre glass

my mom's third bottle of this and i barely can keep myself from breaking the bottle. its so annoying, it over projects and whether you like the smell or not you will be annoyed, it lasts TOOO LONG im talking a whole week on clothes.

Through my personal experience this is a much stronger in scent than imperial valley. Can still smell it on my clothes after 2-3 washes. My Mrs has noticed it and started to steal it so might have to invest in another bottle soon.

This perfume is literally everything!! It’s spicy, it’s feminine without being too girly.. it’s warm and boozy yet also fresh after a few minutes.. it’s musky in the dry down.. it’s signature scent worthy.. love at first sniff 💕
