Aqua Allegoria Lilia Bella

standing in a warm, sunlit garden, the tiny white bells of early spring blow in an errant breeze from the shady side of the garden I breath in the scent of spring and am transported to hundreds of memories.....Lilia Bella is my personal TARDIS. My grandmother always wore Coty's Muguet de Bois, and Lilia, after dry down smells of a slightly sweeter, yet more intense version. I am fussy about my florals...preferring soliflores, so they must be accurate representations. While Lilia is not a true soliflore, it feels like one to me. I found my tiny bottle on ebay and it has aged very well. The initial scent is quite strong and a bit “chemically.” This quickly changes to a strong lilac for about 10 minutes, and then, when warmed, it blooms into a true lily of the valley. If you have a chance to get some at a reasonable price, it is one of the best muguets that I have found. And, since only worn occasionally, my tiny bottle will last for years. My understanding is that this lovely drop of springtime is quite similar to Guerlain Muguet. I wish I could afford Geurlain’s annual limited edition Muguet, however, Unless I manage to win a lottery (or free bottle of Muguet) it will remain a dream. Aqua Lilia Bella is my closest opportunity.

Lilia Bella is simply beautiful. Fresh, strong lily of the valley, quite long lasting for an Aqua Allegoria. To me it has a slightly less complex and less sophisticated feel than Diorissimo, although they are very similar. It is so pretty, a delightful day-time scent for Spring time. Don't know why Guerlain didn't keep this one in their repertoire, it's such a pity it was discontinued. Snap it up if you get an opportunity to nab a bottle.

A bouquet of fresh lily-of-the-valley. That's it. Crystal clear, transparent, a little bit greenish. But thats's not to be underestimated, the flower is very complicated to imitate. Most of lily-of-the-valley perfumes feel synthetic, industrial, too strong, not realistic. This one does not, Jean-Paul Guerlain is a master perfumer, you can feel it.

I wonder why they discontinued this one. It is a very realistic Lily of the Valley. Pure delight! One of my favorites. I also own a vintage EDT of Dior Diorissimo, but I like Lilia Blella much better.

I loved this fragrance. Soft and romantic. I wish it was still available.

No, seriously. Bring it back please. :)

I inherited a vintage (1970s?) half bottle of Diorissimo from an elderly relative. It immediately became my standard for lily-of-the-valley-based scents. But it's gone now and I've been disappointed by later iterations. I've had good luck with the Aqua Allegoria line, so I thought I'd see if its Lilia Bella could be a replacement for the vintage Diorissiomo. Not quite. The lily of the valley is good, though fainter, but it starts with a strong citric note that I don't like. And the Diorissiomo had a sweeter, purer floral note. Lilia Bella also disappears quite quickly on my skin, although I can smell it distinctly on my clothing the next day. So, while not bad, it is not quite up to the standard of the old Diorissimo.

WHY did they discontinue this beautiful fragrance??? It was springtime in a bottle, and now I can't find a single drop of it anywhere! UPDATE: just got a 3/4 full bottle of this from ebay auction, YES! I received this today and my enthusiasm was short lived - it smelled as beautiful as I remembered right out of the bottle but about 3 minutes after spraying it developed a strong 'cat pee' scent, bad enough to prevent me wearing it. This never happened with my first bottle! My other peeve is the caps on these bottles, this is the 2nd time the cap has broken completely, making it very difficult (almost impossible) to spray.

I am not fond of lily of the valley note in perfumery in general, to me it often becomes very synthetic / chemical smelling (I can’t even take Diorissimo, gets too screechy) but this one is the best I have smelled. Its subtle and very life like, with the greenness that lily of the valley has. You smell the flower and the stem, the flower in its entirety. Its a very beautiful, delicate / ethereal spring time scent with the lily of the valley on the front on top of moist spring time lilac. Very masterful perfumery to be able to put this blend together, I am collecting everything that Jean Paul Guerlain made.

This is heartbreakingly beautiful. Lily of the valley as it smells, fresh picked. It is better smelt a few inches from my nose. A close-up sniff doesn't really work. Like the real flowers, one moment it is there, then it is gone. Take a breath of fresh air and then you will catch another whiff of the scent. The whole experience is over in about an hour. This lily of the valley doesn’t stay around for long. I think she may be shy.

Ginger-ish, herbal and slightly minty grass clean scent marks a slightly different beginning for this Aqua Allegoria perfume. However, the weird cleanness somewhat keeps on reminding me of the potent smell of bug spray. Just when I was thinking about wash this one off, some really real delightful lily-of-the-valley scent comes to play, it still has a minor hint of bug spray, but I guess it’s the weird (but getting better) effect of the green, fresh lily-of-the-valley and a little bit of powdery soft lilac. Then the scent gets warmer and slightly grassy + brown sugar-y. Somehow it reminds me a lot of Dior I Love Dior. Around 3 hours after application, Lilia Bella is nearly gone, left a warm, slightly dirty brown-sugar-water trail which you would smell unless inhaling really hard from you skin. I’m not impressed, but I don’t dislike Lilia Bella either. To me, it’s just one of the short-lived Aqua Allegoria perfume from Guerlain, which I just don’t care and wouldn’t ever splurge on this.

Just yesterday I was reminiscing about my long lost gem, looking out at the pouring rain, feeling hopelessly romantic, aching from nostalgia about this divine beauty. As I was out on my evening walk today, the rain dripped down my soft blue raincoat and a small cosmetics shop called my name. I was thirsty for this scent and it found me. My original, discontinued, one of a kind Lilia Bella is sitting gracefully on an antique dresser amongst about fifty odd perfumes of mine, ten thousand miles away. But today, I found her milder cousin, separated from Lilia by oceans and continents. The longevity, creamy nuance and sillage of beloved Lilia simply cannot be matched. She is an utter delicacy.

I got this perfume today which I ordered after some nice reviews here, so to say a blindbuy. All I smell in this beautiful bottle are white lily's, really realistic ones. They are not listed and I have this sensation quite often related to perfumes. Didn't expect white lily to be so dominant, because of the rose, jasmin and lily of the walley, but I'm somehow not surprised, can't explain why.. The conclusion is that I like it, but the fragrance reminds me so much on a room scent that I have (also white lily's) so I feel like wearing something that actually belongs in the living room :) Don't get me wrong, it's a nice one, and it sure lasts a long time, even after the shower.

I found a half bottle of this in an antique store today for $14. Bought it and headed home just as a snow storm hit our area. Got it and myself home safely. Sprayed it once at about 2:30 today. It's now past midnight and I can still smell the LOTV, lilac and touch of rose. If I close my eyes the snow is gone and it's Easter weekend. Truly a lovely, quality fragrance. It's the first of the Aqua Allegoria line I've ever tried and I don't know why this one was discontinued. The fragrance is as pure as the snow that continues to fall outside my window. But I can smile - I have spring in a bottle!

I had this perfume years ago. It is the combination of all my favourite scents, just like a dream for me. I like lily of the valley very much but it feels kinda soapy for me. But in this perfume it balances so good with lilac and jasmine. I am so sorry that it is not produce anymore. I even e-mailed the company about this. Apparently they aren't planning to reproduce it. But they recommended me to try Jasminora or Angelic Lilas from Aqua Allegoria series.

I just learned that there was no [annual] Muguet between 2000-2005 (I can only assume it wasn't that big of a hit in '98 and '99), and this was supposed to be the replacement before they returned to the money sucking strategy. So no, they will never bring this back as long as the other one is selling.. By the way, has anyone compared this to any of the Muguet from 2006-2015? It'd be interesting to hear about it :)

I got my hands on a tiny sample of this that was obviously very old and discolored. The first spray was rancid, but after that (and after the initial "nail polish" blast) I get a smell that's a lot like Diorissimo, but sweeter. I love it! The lilac is heady and the rose is nice and herbal-y. Not sure if it's worth getting a full bottle, maybe if I could be sure it didn't age as harshly as this one. :)

This was the best lily of Valley parfume my favorite but unfortunatly they stoped produsing it, I just hope that it will come back soon. Most similar are but not so good Diorrissimo and Jessica McClintock.

Very light, airy, almost too green but smelling truly like lily of the valley. After some time it became soapy on my skin. Nicely blended but way too light for me.
