Coque d'Or

This is a glorious chypre whose oakmoss note mingles with whatever other complementary notes there are to make an inky-leathery base. I definitely get the fruitiness of Mitsouko, but this scent actually evokes a couple of other scents to me too. While it's not a smell-alike, it definitely brings to mind Patou Pour Homme strangely enough, which I think I'm smelling because of the prominent carnation mixed with the chypre accord, and Parfum D'Empire's Musc Tonkin with the powdery, sweet, animalistic thread at its base. To compare it to Mitsouko in more detail, it definitely feels like the glamorous, dressed up cousin of the more bohemian/earthy Mitsouko. The peachy-chypre-orris-Mitsouko core is there, but Coque d'Or seems to deemphasize the earthy notes of vetiver and patchouli, ups the powdery notes of orris root, and has a slug of the bright, green cyclamen aldehyde. The overall impression is a smooth and velvety. Sumptuous!

I managed to get a vintage bottle with just a few ML's remaining. I can smell something very similar to vintage mitsouko here, most likely the oakmoss + peach combo. I cannot detect the citrus, but perhaps my bottle is old and the top notes have gone. Starts off similar to mitsouko except more floral and mossy. Strong dense lush oakmoss and some rose + peach detected, Iris and carnation also comes through after about 30 minutes and dries down to be a dense, darkish, spicy floral with a very boozy and liquor-like quality to it. My nose is untrained so perhaps I may be naming some notes wrong.
