Guess Uomo Acqua

Supposedly this was inspired by a veritable cornucopia of summer fragrances: Acqua di Giò, D&G Light Blue Eau Intense, Ferragamo Acqua Esselenzia...quite the amalgamation. It opens with a bit of juniper sweetness, lemon, an unusually crisp cucumber (like if you snapped a cucumber in half and sniffed it), and some cardamom for spice. The heart goes in a green direction: sage, cypress, more juniper. The base is where the sea notes come through to crash some waves of salty water mist against mossy palo santo and sandalwood. Which of inspirations is it closest to? The Ferragamo. It's a very similar herbal heart feel, but the sweetness gives me a bit of a Profondo vibe. Ultimately I think Guess did their own thing on this. Kudos to them.

I really like this fragrance. Once you sweat, the smell projects really well. Definitely a gym/summer scent but this one is a really intimate fragrance. Sillage is not that good unless you're intimate to the person. Good for one night stands. Palo Santo kicks in on the dry down. If your wear this in office, scent quickly fades away. That's the only issue wearing this. You must do some physical work to see it's projection. Good for daily wear.

I'm just trying this today and so far it reminds me of an aquatic version of CDN Iconic Extrait de Parfum, with weaker projection but it's a very pleasant skin scent for me. For only $14.99 this was a great blind buy deal.

How are people this clueless? This is an exact clone of Acqua Esselenzia. Its a niche quality aquatic. You CANNOT go wrong with this one. Very very lovely italian style aquatic scent.

Edit: at first I liked this fragrance. It's got some clean, slightly fresh, blue aquatics going on. The lemon pokes through. There is a warm bubble gum vibe. Some green in the background.... but it does have some, "Hey, I just walked into Sephora" synthetic aroma-chemical stuff going on. At first I thought that it was nothing that smells cheap, but as my nose improved with time I began to realize that there was just too much ambroxan and not enough unique qualities to make it worth keeping. So, I had to get rid of it, but unfortunately that is the way it is with a lot of modern blue ambroxan loaded fragrances. They smell good too noobs and people trying to experiment with different fragrances, but after a while your nose may become more discriminating and find it distasteful and dreadfully common and overdone. Also unfortunately what can happen is that you startgetting tired of one heavy ambroxan fragrance, and thatcan you make you get tired of others that have the same strong note.

This is a perfectly fine fresh blue kind of scent on the cheap. It starts off with a citrusy punch coupled with juniper and mossy notes. As it dries down, it definitely takes on a marine vibe but still with some of the mossy undertones and some noticeable cypress. It's not very sweet, which helps it keep that fresh vibe that's good for warm weather. The longevity is average, maybe 4-6 hours as a skin scent, and it's not much of a projector. But it is a safe blind buy and easy dumb reach, and given the very low price point it delivers about all you can ask of it as a very pleasant though slightly generic freshie.

This was a Ross blind buy for me and a pleasant surprise. Starts off very fresh/aquatic with a little bit of a green/herby edge and dries down to really bring out the notes of sage/juniper in my experience. A great freshie with a little something extra. Could also work in the winter with the sage/piney notes on the dry down. Not the best I’ve ever bought but definitely interesting and worth a try. Great value as you can probably find it cheap so I’ll definitely be keeping in my rotation. Best I could describe it is aquatic, but instead of ocean it’s a misty forest hike by a creek. If you see it go for it!

I take cost into account when assessing fragrance, you can't expect the world for £17 (30ml). Think, in my opinion, this is great value, fresh, citrus opening, aquatic, ideal for everyday summer wear, I also use it in the gym. Decent longevity. Por uomo but like a lot of fragrance I think it's unisex, all depends on personal taste. Worth a blind buy if you want a new cheap fresh everyday scent.

It's a good gym fragrance. The longevity is mild and the sillage isn't very big. The smell is fantastic though. It's a pleasant citrus aquatic but the only negative is the longevity. It's perfect for every day use and warm weather.

BDC edt ”wannabe”. A little fresher and lighter but in the same vein as Chanels masterpiece. I like this one a lot but I wish the performance was better. Solid buy!

Fantastic, bright citrus-fresh opening which projected strongly (before soon becoming much closer/skin scent), however I'm not such a fan of the dry-down, which is just OK. Maybe it would work better in the warmer season. The 100ml bottle looks excellent and unique, good in-built sprayer (no cap), gorgeous aqua turquoise colour. EDIT: what is going on with the 'reminds me of' section? I didn't realise Guess could generate such disdain?! It's a decent fresh fragrance (great opening, average dry-down), not much to hate about it. Cool, fairly unique bottles too in this line.

I suppose it smells fine but it’s ridiculously weak. I layered it with another fragrance and it was immediately overpowered by the layering. It’s not a particularly revolutionary fragrance either but that’s probably not what they were going for with this one, considering it’s a flanker. But it does smell good and it’s an easy dumb reach without having to think too much. Casual, day time, spring/summer... smells an awful lot like Dove Men’s shampoo and conditioner in the dark blue bottle.

I got this for free off of Amazon Vine and honestly, I wouldn't pay a penny for this. It's very basic but also not at the same time and it ends up being weird. It tries to be something it cant: a blue and a warm scent at the same time.

This smell like an old man this is why guess is not relevant this DNA will not make it in the new generation. It’s like they’re stuck in 2003 and they never got out.

I was supposed to get this today, but then Amazon delayed my package. Argh! Anyway I'm pretty excited for it, the notes sound pretty great. I LOVE juniper. And cucumber, palo santo, and moss (plus everything else) with a lemony aquatic twist? It sounds very interesting. I'm still hoping it doesn't come off as too Axe-like as the first Amazon reviewer so elegantly put it (could they have a shorter more cliche review?); honestly Guess is really good at making decent fragrances with good longevity for dirt cheap (with admittedly more than just a few misses), I'm not too worried and I'm definitely keeping my finger crossed. Edit: Delivery delayed another day, darn. I agree with Kaori-suki above me. Why do people come to new listings to rate a fragrance they haven't tried, and trash talk it? I'm not going to tell you to get a life, because I also am here talking about a fragrance I'm waiting for. But maybe try not being so... miserable.

Solid enough cheapie for me, with a nice crisp and bright aquatic scent profile. However, the performance is lacking for me, with having to over spray a bit. Never the less, a nice pick me up and go fragrance, to the gym, or just out and about etc

Really masculine, modern but classy, fresh fragrance. This is the kind of cologne that the woman you slept with on an one night stand on an island will remember about you. Decent longevity, projection and reasonably priced. What more to ask for?

I dont know why, since they share no obvious notes, but this reminds me almost exactly of a lost favorite: Biotherm Homme Force. Not amazing quality but a beautiful fragrance here from Guess

Edit: Lgapafto, I stand corrected. I agree and haven't rated it good or bad yet. That should all change in a few hours when I hopefully get to try it.

This is a really nice one. Smells fresh, clean and sexy. It has nice projection and longevity. I have it and recommend it 👍🏼
