Odette

Tarty angel. Bitter as she is sweet. Dominant note for me is ruby grapefruit and runner-up is baby powder. Odette’s grapefruit is stellar – so juicy and bitter. There’s an effervescent bubbles-on-ice quality to the citrus, but it's far more Italian soda than seltzer. She’s everything I wanted from DS&D’s Grapefruit Generation, which feels like the La Croix version of Odette. The baby powder must be the rose-orris amalgam. While the clean baby accord scared me off of L’Eau D’Hiver, here the clinical musk plays splendidly with the grapefruit. Unfortunately, Odette has La Croix-level longevity on skin. Liked it on first spritz. Loved it when I reapplied several hours later on fabric. Feral when I got the electrum between Odette on one sleeve and Odile on the opposite wrist, both whispering for me to drop hundreds of dollars on wearable flavoured water. I can be your angle....or yuor devil. Mental Snapshot: Early bird. Virgo stellium. So thorough in her self-care she’s a wellness CEO. Barre, Gua Shua, NYT crossword, all before a breakfast nibble of rosewater Turkish Delight. Sixteen-step skincare routine, rewatching Sofia Copolla’s Marie Antoinette. You can bet she has a planner. At least three, monogramed in swooping scarlet calligraphy. Every evening is booked for “treating oneself.” tl;dr: Mademoiselle Pamplemousse 🩰 🦢 EDIT: revisiting because I can't stop dreaming of her. To the reviewer that said there's fresh cannabis in the opening – omg yes. I definitely see it. This is 100% a grapefruit edible.

This opens with what I find to be the most realistic smelling rose note paired with a strong grapefruit scent. Its very sweet but, in my opinion, it doesn't seem like an artificial sweet scent. It somehow smells very natural. I don't think its a perfume that fits me personally but, I still love it a lot. It's so very pretty and perfect for the springtime. Odette, is such a beautiful experience, and if you can get your hands on a sample of this gorgeous perfume then I'd highly recommend. Even if you wouldn't buy it for yourself or you don't think it'll fit you, its still just an amazing scent to get to experience.

very beautiful but very weak.. i only get the sparkling water towards the end, though its immediately present and photorealistic on paper(tbh smells a bit like pamplemousse la croix on paper!). on my skin, it reminds me a lot of a luxurious rose bubble bath. like everyone else said, its veryyy overpriced. i would recommend buying only after you sample + wear and only if you really like the bottle (it is cute!)

Bought this on a whim after smelling it in Ministry of Scent in San Francisco. I love it, completely unlike any other scent I own, which are mostly Rose based. The grapefruit sparkles but the rose and slightly powdery feel settle longer. I can’t stop putting my nose to my wrist. It’s a scent I wear for me, not for anyone else. Uplifting, fresh, delicious.

The opening is bright, effervescent, intoxicating grapefruit champagne. Lace and tulle gowns, floating down a set of stairs in a sunlit, chandelier filled ballroom set for brunch. Bouquets tied with ribbons. Pastilles and petit fours. A smirk and a wink and a naughty giggle. Lingers sweet and honeyed just for you.

Smells of sparkling grapefruit seltzers, pixie dust, and the color light pink. Odette is a soft, precious scent. It embodies the delicate silhouettes that ballerinas operate in, their movements so fluid and fragile. Perfect for girls who wear dainty jewelry and collect mini porcelain trinkets.

of course its beautiful, but the price and longevity are inexcusable. yes its magical and feminine and youthful and pretty and sparkling and reminds you of all the best times of being a little girl. and the bottle is a work of art. but the price is shocking... and for 30ml...?

an effervescent and tangy grapefruit with a very watery rose. a romantic scent with a slightly lascivious edge. virtuous while having malice lurking not far behind. refreshing, bright, sparkling, pair it with pink blush and a mean spirited giggle.

this is a pitch-perfect rosehip milk tea. i feel transported back to my teenagehood, getting boba after school...

Oddly enough, like another reviewer, this does smell like milk tea to me. But a richly brewed tea.

Stunningly beautiful. A citrus that’s actually sophisticated and complex.

My little sister is taking her first ballet classes this year and I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect perfume to celebrate her new passion. Odette and Odile were obvious excellent starting points and I was very excited to get my hands on some samples. Odile is a perky sparking grapefruit soda. She’s sweet and sour like a summer cocktail. My initial guess was a lychee note which I’m surprised to not see listed here. I definitely get candied rose. It lasts longer than I expected for a grapefruit frag and ended with some lovely musk. Also the bottle is stunning. I’m sure when I send her a sample she’ll fall in love with the white swan.

This is unlike any perfume that I’ve ever smelled. To me, it doesn’t come across as girly or dainty, and it doesn’t evoke images of ballet, swans, or any of the things it’s being associated with . Instead it smells like harvesting cannabis lol (especially in the opening), but with a powdery feminine twist. This is not something I could wear every day, so I don’t see myself paying $300 for it. Any woman who has this as her signature scent is probably incredibly badass and cool. The fragrance definitely has a unisex feel, but it leans sweeter on the dry down. I like it!

i wore my sample of this to the ballet last night – swan lake, to see odette who it was inspired by. it was lovely ode to her, for three hours and then i couldn’t smell it at all. unfortunately i agree with other comments that this is way overpriced for something that’ll vanish that quickly, not only that but the bottle is 50ml. ( $300 value btw ) $300 for a pretty bottle and a story is not worth it in my opinion especially since the scent vanishes quickly. if i get this again, it’ll only ever be as 2ml sample size like my previous.

I don't just like this because I can never buy it ($300... seriously?). It's a beautiful, feminine fragrance. I can identify the rose (most realistic fresh rose scent), grapefruit (tart and bright), and rhubarb notes independently, but they play so well together in this. The dry down loses some of that sparkling brightness, but that's when you get to enjoy the orris and musk. The commenter below said it's like Rose Jam from Lush and I 100% agree. Odette is the fresher, brighter, more sophisticated Rose Jam.

Okay, I was not ready for this. I thought the white swan would be airy and delicate, but instead I got smacked with a stunning dose of rhubarb, Italian grapefruit soda, and creamy orris It’s jammy and tart. Every single note hits. It’s kind of giving a lighter, more citrusy version of Rose Jam by Lush. 👀

this is a very beautiful, complex rose fragrance! in some ways, it reminds me of vaara from penhaligon's. the grapefruit acts very similarly to the quince and both are grounded by musk and tonka. i already own vaara so i likely won't get this, but i did like it!

This is a bright and bubbly grapefruit soda kind of smell, light and static notes come off really beautifully <3 I don't think it's worth the cost, given how long it actually lasts, but the bottle is beautiful and the scent itself is playful and sweet!

Look how pink, so preeeettyyy! Candied effervescence for at least 8 hours on my skin. Warm and cheeky and sparkling. Mazzy Star coded. Odile speaks more to my character but Odette is for the soft, sweet, and charming.

This is pretty pleasant :) no complaints, I just don’t think I’d spend that much money for a full size. It’s a nice perfume I just feel like if I did buy it it would be for the BEAUTIFUL bottle

When Odette was first released, I immediately noted the grapefruit note; it is a clever choice for a perfume inspired by a famous ballet. There seems to be an association with ballerinas and grapefruits. From the restrictive "grapefruit diet" (as seen in Aronofsky's Black Swan featuring Natalie Portman) to the grapefruit-rosemary flavored wine cocktail known as the Ballerina— a grapefruit note makes sense for this perfume. The rose note is also strategic, as roses are the customary choice for dancers following a performance. There is, of course, a chance that these notes are just a coincidence. Regardless, I was extremely excited to try Odette and imagined it would be the fragrance of my ballet dreams. Odette starts with a blast of grapefruit in the opening and dries into a creamy citrus rose. To me, it is more sour than sweet. It also smells a bit sweaty. Initially, I wasn't a huge fan, but it has grown on me a little. However, when I asked my boyfriend for his opinion, he nearly gagged when he smelled it. My mom also tried it, and her reaction wasn't much better. Longevity is a significant problem. After 1-2 hours, it is a skin scent. At the 3-hour mark, it is undetectable, which is unacceptable for a $300 fragrance. Overall, this is not full-bottle worthy, but I appreciate the thought put into it, and I'll enjoy revisiting my sample occasionally.

Does anyone remember those memes a few years ago about LaCroix sparkling water where the flavors are described as being like “a strawberry with a low battery” or “was transported in a truck near a mango?” Because that’s exactly what this fragrance smells like to me. The memory of a grapefruit mixed with rosewater that’s been diluted with carbonated water. This is the LaCroix of perfumes- reminiscent of what it’s supposed to smell like but faint to the point of almost being unrecognizable. Don’t get me wrong, it smells good, but it does so for about 45 minutes before becoming undetectable.

I was sure I was going to adore this one. It is a very pretty scent: light and airy and like rose and sparkling grapefruit wine. But I already can hardly smell it on myself, and what I can smell is a far more muted version. Faintly rhubarb which is nice, still a little grapefruit-sparkling-winey. But it's barely there. I have a small sample so only did a couple sprays, maybe if I had the full bottle/doused myself more thoroughly it'd last longer. But I think it is exceedingly overpriced. :( The concept is lovely, but it is just too delicate.

I think it’s.... nice? I can place this as a Zappas creation, it feels like it lives in the same world as something else I’ve tried (Queen Nzinga, although completely different). It’s certainly rose but the dry pithiness of grapefruit is undeniable. I feel like I can wear this if I want to fix my posture because it feels like the air of a debutante ball. I wish there was more of a story in the base, I get a lot of top note energy but I feel it whisps away after that, there lacks a certain depth.

i'm realizing that every perfume the people of fragrantica like is simply sub par. it's very light and does not have staying power. not youthful whatsoever. despite that, odette is a nice summer scent. it's like if you let an old bag of black tea ferment in daisy by marc jacobs. if you want true innocence and youthfulness go for something sweeter, not this... i notice everything the masses on here love, i hate. and everything they hate, i love.

Oh this was so disappointing! I'm enamoured with the way Marissa discusses and thinks about perfume, but this doesn't live up to the attempt at all. This is so light as to be undetectable, with none of the advertised notes. The fantasy created around it is so creative, and this isn't. Could barely pull a smell from this (and I vastly prefer light perfumes). A shame!

This is the first citrus + rose + musk combo to fail me. Citrus notes never smell like cleaning product on me, but this fragrance does. Reminds me of The Pink Stuff. I think the rhubarb is contributing to that a lot. Wanted to love it, but it’s a slight dislike. Lasts hours, but very intimately. Smells like cracking open a bottle of kombucha.

Soapy fizzy grapefruit. Felt like foaming my tween face with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit. Not a good scent association for me! I just got pure linear grapefruit.

I really wish I liked this—it's gorgeous on paper and the bottle is divine. On my skin I smell rhubarb gummy candy with a faint layer of dust.

This is not worth the price whatsoever in my opinion. This is another mashup. It’s objectively nice but if it was a story it would have no plot. It’s all over the place and muddled. I’m a huge fan of both of these perfumers but this collaboration lacked backbone and needed some editing. It ls like the product of the surrealist game of Exquisite Corpse *perfume edition. I had higher expectations. Lasting lower and projection is surprisingly poor. Bummer. I wouldn’t suggest paying retail for this.

I was excited to smell these but was disappointed. More like a rough sketch, I got citrus and muddled dust. Not very well blended. Good marketing tho, like a farmer's market fail marketed for Bergdorf.

I was really hoping these perfumes (Odette and Odile) were all just hype to snag the weird coquette girls, of which I am a prime target. The bottles? The whimsical font? help lol. Unfortunately they are SO VERY GOOD. BOTH OF THEM. I wasn't sure if I would like the grapefruit note in Odette, as I don't tend to like super clean and fruity scents. It's blended in such a unique way, that I actually love how the notes come together...at first you get this bitter, effervescent grapefruit peel blast, with frosting pink rose petals dancing and falling all around. Something a bit a haunting in the background. It settles into mostly a gorgeous, powdery, sugared, blurred rose. It may be my new favorite rose. It's not soapy, or cleaning product, or old. The orris I think really keeps this from being basic. It has that touch of spooky that I associate with Zappas, and why I love her creations. There's always something a bit off kilter and strange. I immediately bought both bottles

This scent is beautiful, and there's something so subtle about it that makes it addictive. The rose smells like a photorealistic sweet young rose. I love both perfumers who worked on this- and was really eager to smell it. I got a bottle for my birthday and I really do love it. The grapefruit is nice, watery and pleasant. I know it is supposed to be a grapefruit soda note- however to me it is more like a grapefruit slice in a glass of sparkling water with candied rose and very light angel powdery musk. After an hour or so, it melts into something ethereal, it gets a bit deeper- the floral notes slightly take over. This is when it's best to me. it's really special. coquette summer in a bottle. But, also something painful and beautiful about it. A world you just keep trying to get to but, can never seem to reach. My feet aren't on the ground, I'm not down to earth. I day dream too much.

Makes me think of childhood, sitting in my mother's garden, and everything is well in the world. She's peeling some citrus fruit; I think it's a weird-looking orange, but it's really a grapefruit. I'm drinking some sparkling water even though I don't like how static it tastes, but I try to enjoy it anyway. I'm eating rhubarb stems and am dipping them in white granulated sugar. It's a beautiful summer day, and my biggest problem is that my sister wants to play with the same Barbie that I want to play with. This is an incredibly happy and innocent fragrance. I love it, but unfortunately the longevity is very poor; I don't even get an hour, and for $300 I can't justify getting a full bottle. However, I'll cherish my sample; it's a little time capsule. Edited (12/5/2026) I crave this scent often and nothing else will do. So lovely and happy, I might just have to pull the trigger.

Could become trendy through that wretched app, you all know the one... Imagine this bottle coming out in pastel pink and off-white tones.. pink juice when it’s new.. pink swan cap.. Make it some basic inoffensive fruity-freshie with a floral nuance, lightweight, last a couple of hours, BAM you’ve got a scent that will sell just because the bottle is pretty and the juice is okay. Then it will sell out and never say if it is discontinued or just taking a long time to come back.. A year goes by, then two.. Many more pass, it’s assumed to be done with forever, prices for secondhand bottles are sky-high whether they’re used or not. Finally, randomly, it is taken off the site. It is officially gone, never to return at retail price again.

a new review because, despite my below critiques, i find myself returning to odette despite my reservations on the price + longevity. something about the rose + citrus combo comes across very naturalistic and lovely on my skin. this is going to sound like a complaint but bear with me. it kinda smells like pussy. like dating a really hot ballerina who eats grapefruit for breakfast and is into vabbing. I kind of love it. I do think the formulation could be better though. for longevity, but also it feels disjointed and incomplete. this perfume comes across as a first draft. kind of hoping gumamina reformulates a bit, and for god's sake, make it cheaper! in the meantime, does anyone have any recs for anything similar?

I regret to inform you all that this is crazy good. Considering the price I was honestly praying that all of the good reviews I had seen were hype but I am in love. Yes, it does smell like a tart light bubbly grapefruit soda. But it wears so beautifully creating an effervescent aura on the wearer. I think Odile is such an interesting and thoughtful foil to this one. The coolest girl you know is definitely wearing Odette in the day and Odile at night. I want it :'(

This opens smelling just like a green banana, then becomes a crisp rose, maintaining that underripe fruit note. I was very surprised when, around 2 hours in, Odette completely morphed into a cosmetic, sweet and powdery iris! It feels like a magic trick how different the drydown is from the top middle notes. Very pretty and girly, but a little shy and soft for my taste, especially compared to its counterpart fragrance Odile, which projects and lasts forever.

I had difficulty interpreting the direction of this until it finally clicked. It begins as the extremely sour citrus but only for a moment because soon a rosy jam fragrance exposes itself as a mature delicate wetness. This is almost the concept of a rose becoming a very sweet citrus fruit. It also is reminiscent of a very sparkly vintage champagne.

It’s bright, tangy but airy; so beautiful. Mood: Drinking a bright toronja soda con crema, expensive body lotion and lip balm, perfect skin, beautiful girl with Natalie Portman features, listening to CRUSH from Jennifer Paige on a white iPod classic with vintage Lisa Frank stickers all over it. 🎵“Vanilla skies, white picket fences in your eyes”.🎶

rhubarb! soda! spring! pretty with an intense sour edge. slavic woman coded. can't think of many other perfumes that capture the feeling of sparkling like this one. the sample i got didn't perform very well but i bought the full size anyways because i was afraid they weren't going to do another run of it. it projects/lasts better than i thought.

obsessed with Marissa Zappas + Universal Flowering and these bottles are so beautiful i had to try. a whiff of soda at the beginning, but fades into a pleasant rose. there's something sour at the edges, a little bit sweaty. $300 is a psychotic price point for this, especially considering i could barely detect this after 1 hr :(

Grandmas vintage perfume mixed w/ grapefruit soda on me. A citrus infused dusty vintage juice that has aged to a dark golden shade is what I imagine. Was expecting so much more.The price is insane for a 50 ml.. is it because the bottle was complicated to produce or what’s the justification here?

When I first dabbed this on it did smell a lot like champagne. Unfortunately it fizzles out into a light powdery rose. I don't know if the pretty bottle is worth the high price. If I came into a sickening amount of money I would use this as a sleep perfume.

To me this smell like delina but brighter(?) it’s more citrus, and sparkly like champagne (as other people here have mentioned) but there’s also this powdery plastic nostalgic smell about it. I’m not sure how I feel about this one

Fizzy grapefruit soda cream. Dries down to a light musky scent, slightly soapy. Pretty, light and very simple. It is overpriced. A sample is enough for me.
