Eterniris

I got a few of the newer samples more recently from Hermetica (pricy to ship to Australia!) and immediately loved this one. Will definitely be a full bottle buy, but alas, not for me. My partner said I smelled like a man, but loved it himself, has taken it, so now I can enjoy it on him. Honestly I couldn't be happier smelling this on him rather than the V&R Spicebomb he wore before (not a fan). This is gorgeous. It's complex and aromatic, without being confused or cloying. It surprises me how many sweeter fruity notes they've got in this, without it smelling as such. It's sort of a clean woody pink pepper to me, if that makes any sense. I entirely agree with dutchhero that they've created a really gorgeous masculine floral here, without it being sweet or trying too hard (like a Paco Robanne 1 Million - not sorry, hate it). I love the smell of it on my partner. I tell him every time he wears it. And as I mention in all of my Hermetica reviews, I love that they're molecular, layerable, non-alcohol based, and you can refill the bottles. Really sets them apart as a brand for me.

What a complex scent--on my skin this is a murky, moody scent, distinctly reminding me of a gathering storm cloud. As a whole, it smells musky, earthy, and a bit metallic without any sweetness (leaning masculine, imo). It's a bit of a mood, complex and mysterious, with hints of other notes, a bit of freshness, a bit of clean, a bit of concrete and rain. It's gorgeous, though I will likely sell my bottle. I have too many other profiles that give me this vibe but lean femme (like Burberry Weekend, Balenciaga L'eau Essence, etc.), and I prefer just a bit of sweetness to balance out the woody vibes. But really--if you are looking for a mysterious, mythic vibe that communicates the old soul that you are, this is it. It's incredibly deep and interesting.

This fragrance is wonderful! It was the first Hermetica fragrance I tried, albeit also the newest from this house. It surprised me that this one is super long lasting: I applied it in the morning and could smell it all day (and parts of the evening also). It has a super pleasing, masculine and clean floral scent. I bet it's the lily of the valley. I felt fresh, clean and classy all day long. Although I think it is a perfect unisex scent, I would consider it more masculine, because it is somehow floral but not sweet.

This is such an interesting little fragrance. To tell the truth, I ordered this blindly because of the sheer amount of notes they listed, the great reviews on here, I've been wanting to try this brand, and it was super cheap on fragrancenet. This was one of the biggest surprises in terms of how much I like this scent as it's advertised as a powdery explosion, and while it certainly does have a powdery-ness to it, it's almost velvet-y as Fatter said in their review. There is so much going on here that I really don't know how to describe it. It starts very super... aromatic for lack of a better term as the top notes mix together, I would say that most prevalent notes off the rip are pineapple, rose, and saffron. While this top may seem very feminine, it has a dark rose reminiscent of "Hermann a mas Cortes" by Etat Libre d'Orange. I'm chalking that up to the cedar, oud, and amber but I could be wrong. As it starts to dry down it becomes much more woody but continuing that velvet like smoothness. It's really impressive how they got all of these notes to work together so well, but they do. It becomes a much much more masculine scent as it dries down as the rest of the darker notes begin to push through. Most of the base notes staying at a pretty consistent level of potency as it dries but it gets more musky to my nose the longer it sits on my skin. Though, to be fair, most musky scents are more potent on my skin than other notes. I forget who made the review, but they made a perfect analogy: it's like a old cedar wooden boat en route to trade all of their exotic goods, from fruits and florals to spices and woods; this merchant has it all. I agree with a lot of the reviews with this scent, but I really don't anyone could dislike this. There is something in this potion of goodies for everyone.

I was given a sample of Eterniris and wore it for a day last week in cool (a high of 17 degrees celsius) and dry conditions. I’ll need to try it again in hotter weather to gauge performance, as Iris is that fluffy, comfy scent which suits cold months, plus there is the obligatory musk to amp up the snugglyness. I found Eterniris to be a pleasant, likeable fragrance, but I feel that it is missing something to raise it from pleasant and likeable, to memorable. I agree with other reviewers who have said that most people would enjoy Eterniris, and in my opinion, it is a no brainer, quick spray, race out the door jack-of-all-trades fragrance. These days though I don’t purchase fragrances unless they rock my world, and sadly, the earth didn’t move. I found the Fragrantica member’s votes on which notes were most prominent, completely different to my experience. The Orris is very pronounced, so it lives up to its name. I can smell that it is a quality orris, and I wasn’t surprised to find that it is made from Orris Concrete or “butter”. To be honest though, I much prefer the iris in Prada fragrances. To answer the question from Ameda, the reviewer below, YES, Hermetica fragrances are designed to be moisturising, so once applied to the skin, wearers can rub it in like body lotion. One of the ingredients is caprylyl glycol, which is commonly used in moisturising products. While Hermetica fragrances are slightly oily in texture, the product sinks in quickly and very well. I’ve never had any of my clothing stained from the Hermetica fragrances I own. A little goes a long way too, so rather than drying the skin, it soothes and softens. Hermetica fragrances are also pretty good to layer together, giving wearers the opportunity to create their own blend, a la Jo Malone. it’s just a shame that the longevity of Eterniris isn’t actually, well, long. Below is the blurb from the Hermetica website about the moisturising formula. Eterniris is a clean and alcohol-free fragrance. Its formula offers the perfect alchemy between perfume and skin, with a long-lasting effect. Ingredients: aqua • pentylene glycol • parfum (fragrance) • caprylyl glycol • glycerin • EDTA • limonene • citronellol • geraniol • alpha-Isomethyl ionone • coumarin • linalool • eugenol • citral • methyl 2-octynoate So, in summary, for me this is a decent enough release by Hermetica, but the deficits of being short lived and a little lacking in personality mean I won’t be adding it to my collection.

Smells great while it lasts - but if you expect a 'fruity white floral' you will be shocked and disappointed. Rosy, spicy and somewhat fruity yes, but this is primarily an oud fragrance. There's probably no real Oud used, but the accord is supported by deep woody tones that lend authenticity. Curiously flat for such a rich blend. The non-alcoholic formulation really seems to inhibit lift and trail. I tested this on a very warm day expecting to be overwhelmed, but there was really no bubble at all and I could only perceive the fragrance close to the point of application. Speaking of application, I don't know if this is built on a propylene glycol base (edit: it's pentethylene glycol) , but the spray residue stays wet forever. I let the it remain for about an hour before patting it down. This smells better than Oud Touch but the value and performance make OT the better buy, unless you are sensitive to alcohol in perfumes. Get Oud Ispahan if money is not a concern. Edit: Bears some resemblance to discontinued, hard-to-find Bond No 9 New York Oud, but with much diminished performance.

A medium-light Western oud. Musky & moody. I expected more of the listed notes, but they are not present for me...just oud & wood to my nose. Leans masculine, becoming more so in evolution.

On its own I don't like it. I realized that to my nose it smells like a base that gets added by perfumers to make an intense version of fruity florals instead of it being a fruity floral on its own. With that in mind I'm going to start experimenting layering under light fruity florals that don't really have staying power (I'm looking at you Kayali)

Instant dislike. The oud oil is very strong. Mixed with slight powder from the Iris. Not a fan of this at all. I tried washing it off twice and putting a slightly scented cream on my hand but the fragrance still lingered on my skin. This has great lasting power. So I would say it’s worth whatever the cost is. This is the 2nd Hermetica fragrance I’ve tried. The first was also a dislike. So I’m kind of off putted from the brand.

On old leather pocketbook full of dry rotten wood

I tried the whole range yesterday at a blue mercury here in NYC. This one along with Peonypop were my favorites. The others were okay but not my cup of tea. Source1 is the most well known of the line. It was just okay and there are much more interesting ones in this range I would suggest over it. Eterniris had an elegant velvet-like finish which I might chalk up to the muguet reminding me a bit of Inflorescence by Byredo. I don't believe anybody would dislike this.

Iris-y oud-y leather. Almost evokes Tuscan Leather if it had iris instead of raspberry. Emphasis here is definitely on the oud, though. Strong like!

A more crowd pleasing Tuscan leather. Remove the raspberry and add iris and ripe pineapple. This will stay on the shelf. Perfect for Florida winter.

For a perfume with so many notes, I would expect it to have iris true to its name. The name is so misleading!
