You?

House of Dastan You? is one of the weirdest and most oddly addictive fragrances I own. This is definitely not a safe blind buy type of scent. The muskiness is polarizing, and I honestly think a lot of people would dislike it. Even I think it smells weird. There is something about it that almost does not smell real, like this strange mix of fig, milkiness, musk, soft sweetness, and perfume-like warmth. It has this creamy, slightly fruity, musky quality that feels beautiful and unsettling at the same time. What makes it so interesting is that I do not always know if I fully love it in the moment, but something about it keeps pulling me back. It has this odd addictiveness that is hard to explain. The fig gives it a soft fruity sweetness, the milky quality makes it creamy and smooth, and the musk gives it this strange skin-like heaviness that makes it feel almost alive. It can definitely become too much. More than three sprays can get cloying fast, and even for the wearer it can start to feel heavy or overwhelming. This is not something I would overspray or wear casually without thinking. It has to be controlled, because that muskiness and milkiness can take over. But that is also part of why I like it. It is not basic, clean, fresh, or easy. It is strange, creamy, musky, slightly fruity, and oddly beautiful. Even when I do not love it as much in the moment, I still want to smell it again later. That is what makes You? special to me. It is polarizing, weird, addictive, and one of the most unique fragrances in my collection.

Something about it puts me off, like a thick, lotion-y, almost medicinal note, but that's only when sniffing my hand. From far away, I don't get it. I like the citrus aspects of You?, and the fact that the floral aspects are subdued and not up front. I wouldn't mind getting a bottle of it. Smells different enough from everything else I own or have smelled. It makes me feel really good and puts me in a different headspace, like I feel I'm dressed nicely and am gonna travel even if I'm at home lounging in my underwear, ha-ha! I wanted to share something I learned: When you receive your orders of fragrances you wanted, if you received free samples, don't smell them that same day. That'll skew your perception, because you'll be honeymoon-ly smelling the fragrances you finally received, and if the samples are too different from them or from your preferred scent profiles, you will dismiss them as unlikable and miss an opportunity to potentially fall in love with something you are not into. Smell samples on a different day, preferably when you haven't worn any fragrance. Why? You won't be biased towards your preferences and you will judge the scents on their own merits. I made that mistake with You?, which I initially disliked and put away. I revisited it months later after stumbling upon the sample and, even though I was wearing different scents on my arms and legs (I wear like four at a time at home, ha-ha), I still managed to give it my undivided attention and was surprised at its complexity and nuances.

It blew me and my wife away. I picked up You and Game of Joy on blind buys and You has gotten me so many compliments. I was in San Antonio for the NBA finals and was complimented 3 times that I smelled very good. This fragrance plays as a all year any time fragrance that can be signature. Hot summer day. Clean tee shirt and shorts. I dont know what the spoiled milk dislike comments are about. Matter-of-fact I'm fisxing to put on 2xtra sprays 😁

You is one of those fragrances that you need to spend some time with it. I have tried with a sample. Sprayed it on 4 different people and we got different performance out of it. Some people got Fig notes more, some Jasmine was more dominant and others the sandalwood and milky notes. It reminds me of our Escentric Molecule 01 is, does not work for everyone, but if your skin and body likes it's just a beast. .

Got this as a sample with my last Maxaroma order... and what a beautiful smell. I'll be honest I read the reviews below and when I smelled it on paper all I could smell was crayons lol.... but on skin it's much different. Very creamy, the sandlewood is amazing and the fig/pear give it a really unique light fruity scent. This is a long lasting fragrance and I’m not a big fan of the dry down as much as I am the opening. After a few hours, the fruits are gone and it’s really just the sandalwood and the crayon smell whatever that is.... Maybe the white chocolate or the milk? But I wish that was toned down a little bit.. Overall a like for me but not a love.
