Ajna

A very interesting and, I would say, unusual perfume. It feels like this perfume was buried underground for 100 years and matured. There’s a lot going on inside, with some elements that are actually incompatible, yet they give a unique and pronounced nostalgic character. Of course, I must mention that the raw materials here are very, very high quality and at an impressive level, but the combination of everything is simply quite unusual. I'll take the cannabis note as an example, which is at the top. You absolutely can't smell it — not even 10% of cannabis is detectable in this perfume (not even in the form of leaves, oil, or sticky hashish). So, this isn't Kinski Kinski, nor is it a superficial take on the cannabis note like the milder examples: DesirToxic by M. Micallef or Cannabis Salata by Bois 1920. There’s no cannabis scent at all in this perfume. Therefore, I’m thinking out loud that maybe the cannabis note is just a tiny micro-addition to keep the perfume’s structure fresh? Because, yes... this perfume has a "fresh" background — damp, musty, but at the same time, it has a degree of dryness within it. And that leads us to the note mentioned by the brand: the smell of "FRESH PRINTED DOLLAR" and WORN-OUT DOLLAR. No matter how much sense this does or doesn’t make, maybe a visual image or illusion of such a scent was created, but I don’t perceive it. Maybe I’d feel it if the money had been sitting in a damp basement, but I don’t sense it as freshly printed or pressed. Who knows, maybe my nose detects more of a papery note like papyrus than a dollar bill, whether washed or unwashed, fresh or crumpled in a pocket. What stands out as the climax of this perfume is the wood — wet, dry, oily, fatty, damp, musty, fresh, old... and that fact is justified by the composition: AUSTRALIAN SANDALWOOD, INDIAN MYSORE SANDALWOOD, followed by OUD MALINAU, OUD MERAUKE, OUD BURMESE, and OUD LAOS. So, we have four types of oud blended into a single perfume. A nostalgic whole. The box’s wrapping, the packaging doesn’t suggest that this is anything cheerful, although I must praise the exceptional and high-quality yet creative external appearance of the box, as well as the 30ml bottle, which is more than charming. But the juice inside is simply contradictory to all the visual aspects. The scent is serious, calm, sad, mystical, and my dad called it a "sandy perfume." He really likes it, for example, while I am at a distance, analyzing and searching for the right words to describe this perfume realistically. To be honest, this is not a perfume for younger people or the younger generation looking to go to a club. This is a perfume for artists, bohemians, sitting in a coat at a table alone or with one friend, talking in a cloud of smoke in some tucked-away pub where Jazz or Blues is playing... This isn’t a clubbing perfume; it’s not a perfume to fish for compliments. It’s a conceptual perfume that a specific wearer wants to have on their neck or wrist. Without any particular occasion, or with an occasion... (whatever that may be). A walk in the woods could nicely incorporate this perfume. The luxury of money, the glare of spotlights, glitter, and glamour... these are not for this perfume. This is quite a serious and demanding creation to be observed, with truly high-end quality ingredients. It’s uniquely a level 10, and its appeal is truly individual. How wearable is this perfume? Well, it is, why not, but I think it’s not for everyone, and even some perfume enthusiasts might find it a challenging work. It’s very interesting to own something like this, at least as a reminder that even today, something unexpected can pop up on the market that will simply blow you away, shocking with its creativity and incompatibility in this monotonous everyday life. I would only recommend owning this scent if you’re an enthusiastic collector and enjoy having strange and out-of-the-box things in your collection. And you’ll really get all that in a beautiful box with a very nice bottle. But if you're a perfume enthusiast who doesn't gravitate toward such things and isn’t ready to risk paying $400? I suggest leaving this space for artistic souls, for this perfume... because I think it will be better understood and in the right hands.

Ajna is an exploration of emotion, spirituality and nostalgia, weaving together unexpected notes into a bold olfactory experience. It starts with an intriguing “aged dollar bill accord”, a unique blend of soft paper, a faint metallic edge, and the warmth of worn leather. It is like sifting through a well-used wallet. The heart of the fragrance brings in tobacco, not the fresh, sweet variety, but the deeper, more complex, and slightly dirty tobacco, almost reminiscent of a tobacco leaf that’s been left to dry out in a cellar. There’s a slightly burnt edge to it, the way that ash lingers in the air after a smoke, mingling with the earthy warmth of cannabis. It is quite balanced without the rough edges. What truly elevates Ajna is its masterful use of four distinct varieties of aged agarwood: the dry, woody Burmese oud forms a rich, complex base, while the sweet, resinous Laos oud adds smoothness and a faint incense-like quality. The sharp, medicinal Malinau oud introduces an edgy tension, and the earthy, green Merauke oud gives the scent a grounding depth, like stepping into a damp forest after a storm. The fragrance has been macerated for 15 months. Ajna’s dry down ensures that it remains present without dominating the senses. It’s a scent that lingers close to the skin, drawing you in with a sense of curiosity and depth.

I had the opportunity to try this perfume yesterday. I really liked it very Oudy oriental fragrance, that lasted for the whole night on my hands. I also like the design of the branding, package and overall identity. Well done
