Hugo Man

I had the original Hugo by Hugo and i have to say i think this is a lot better even though they are very similar. The sweet apple comes through a lot more and even though i am not a huge fan of spiced scents like Cerrutti 1881 for men which makes me think of old man fragrances, there is just enough spice in this to compliment the sweetness of the apple. I do like sweet spicy scents like SpiceBomb Extreme and Infrared as a reference. The pine is also toned down a lot imo compared to the original Hugo. I don't know what the person below me got, a fake maybe? lol. I got mine from USC so it's definitely real. I will admit when i first got it i was expecting the exact same as the OG as this was being sold as a replacement of the OG but that seems to be gone from the description now and was a little upset at first when it wasn't exactly the same as it has a lot of fond memories of holidays abroad tied to it but as i said above i now actually prefer it so maybe it just needs time for it to grow on people expecting the OG. As for people new to the scent, if you like fresh, sweet apple i think you will enjoy this. I think this is more with the times and is probably why they changed it up. They are maybe smelling the pine come through more in their batch which i could understand being a little off putting at first but in mine it's definitely more of a lightly spiced, sweet apple scent that the pine and fir perfectly compliments which i love. When i first got it i actually would feel a little bit of a head rush that would wake me up in the morning, that's how refreshingly fresh this is. The more i use this each time the more i pick up the sweetness of it rather than the piney smell i first picked up on when i first got it and the head rush has gone. Sillage is good as is longevity and the prices always seem to be very good. USC usually has the 200ml reduced on sale for roughly £45 I don't have any other scents like it but want more tbh as i am getting a little fed up of the Le Male and Joop L Homme thick scents that leave me feeling like i have a thick fog surrounding my head. This is lighter but doesn't sacrifice strength or performance. I hate having to spray scents on clothes to add to longevity as this means your clothes are going to smell of whatever scent you wear at that time until you wash or change clothes and who wants to have to do that every time you wish to change scents? I'd rather i can just have a quick wash or shower and that way if the clothes i have had on all day don't have thr scent stuck to them and i feel like wearing a different scent at night i can go ahead and do so but if my clothes are covered in it then i need to look out a new set and wash what could be an already freshly washed set of clothes that day before the scent is removed! Scents should be good enough to spray on skin and decide on where and the amount without going overboard to be able to enjoy it on yourself or if you want depending on setting for others to enjoy if out on a date or chilling with friends and this is a good scent for that. The 4 spay routine of 2 on the front of your neck and 2 behind your ears gives you at least 5+hrs of a linear constant smell from start to finish unlike some scents where you need to respray to enjoy a few hours or less after initial spray where you only get occasional whiffs on yourself here and there. Hugo Man definitely doesn't have that problem. If going out in a clubbing environment the 7 spray routine would work well with this to project even more. I think this can be worn at any time as the sweet apple thrives in the cold crisp air of fall and winter and it would be more than fresh enough to wear in summer. You can get smaller bottles and if i can get a 200ml for £45 i am sure people will find the smaller amounts for even less. I was 18 when i wore the OG and i love this even more now at 42 and i like scents pushed for all ages. Give it a go, i think you will find you will like it :)

Hugo Man is an aromatic, fresh and woody fragrance. This version seems to be an update of the classic Hugo fragrance. When I smelled it I immediately felt the DNA of the original fragrance, although it seems to me that it has been polished a bit, as it feels less harsh than the original. Its aroma is very pleasant, for those who know the original it could be said that its aroma is almost the same, it is based on lavender, mint, wood and pine, although in this Hugo Man the apple note is less prominent. Hugo Man is a versatile fragrance, it can be used in any situation and at any time of the year. In fact, it could well be a signature fragrance, and surely those who have used the original will like it. In longevity it lasted more than 9 hours and with good sillage the first two hours. For those who like the classic Hugo, this may be a blind buy.

I'm a big fan of the Man. It goes on with a tangy burst of the green apple, which is only minimally sweet. The pungent fruity top is countered by a very damp mossy note, and the contrast is unique and very interesting. The apple top note is pretty short lived, and this quickly evolves to an herbal coniferous accord with some gentle sweetness underneath. The eventual dry down is a lovely dry woody scent that's no longer mossy and feels more like a rich mahogany blended with some cooler evergreens. Overall I very much enjoy the evolution and experience here. The performance is quite solid lasting me a good 8 hours, and for the just under $30 I paid for it this one is a very likeable masculine scent that's versatile, fresh, and unique.

This was my go-to for all occasions, year round, many years before I started actually taking an interest in the world of fragrances. I feel it's still a fantastic one for the summertime, but perhaps not all the time. It also feels a little youthful for me now but I'll still finish my current bottle. Might not buy again simply because I personally feel as though I've outgrown it. That being said, it's probably going to be the first fragrance I buy for my son when he's older if they still make it. It performs very well and is a crowd pleaser. Would definitely recommend, especially for younger guys starting out.

I purchased this confusing it with the Hugo cologne from 1995. I thought it was more linear, minimalist and subdued than the fragrance I remembered. My nose was right. This is more toned down than its headier and richer predecessor. It is lovely with a sweet and fresh sillage, and the notes are beautifully balanced. While I love Hugo Boss original, Hugo Man is just as appealing. There is a new perfume store in my neighborhood that is well-stocked and reasonably priced. I will go back for more delightful surprises.

Nose Note #199 A "serious man" type of scent. 3 minutes in it reminds me quite a lot of Amouage Memoir Man, but it doesn't quite have this tomato leaf / vegetable roots note. This one is definately a green scent meaning you don't smell "the wood", but rather the product of the woods. The pine is very prominent. If you are looking for a 100% mens fragrance, something brutal, but you're not into leather or oud, then you can try this.

I currently have a bottle of Hugo, and while it smells nice, it lacks that special something that reminds me of my bottle of Hugo from the 90s. I recently received a bottle of Hugo Man in a swap, and it immediately brought back fond memories of the 90s and my previous bottle of Hugo. I'm thrilled to add Hugo Man to my collection; it truly takes me on a wonderful trip down memory lane.

One of my all time favourites. Fresh, spicy, masculine. Green apple in the opening, a bit stronger than I would like. Lavander sweetness in the middle. Woody undertones. It tends to give synthetic feel, at least on my skin - prefer it on clothes. Wish it was more like the 1995 original. Decent quality. Good projection, moderate to long lasting. Signature-worthy.

This fragrance can be picked up for VERY cheap (200mL for roughly $90 AUD) & what you get is a very green manly smell that works quite well year round. this is a great starting point if you just want something simple and cheap that has a consistent smell all the way through. Is this underrated? yes. I've had numerous partners who have loved this smell.

Never had the original as a youth but always wanted it. Saw a bottle of this on the shelf at CVS yesterday and did a blind buy. I'm currently wearing it and it is exactly as I remember. Takes me right back to the 90s. This quickly shot up to the top of my favorites list! EDIT: 2 months later and I have decided this is my signature. Absolute fav!

Bought this for my ex in high school. It's inoffensive and honestly a crowd pleaser. Luckily it doesnt stay fruity fresh too long, it's really natural and woody and musky smelling. Like manly-- like a clean lumberjack. Loved smelling this on him, and on myself after seeing him-- cause like it definetly has some elements of unisexness. Loveeeee

Hugo Man Hugo Boss (2021) .. Just bought blind and it smells just like Hugo by Hugo Boss 1995, before it was reformulated 😍 £38 .. 200ml from a department store here in the UK .. I still have half a bottle of the Hugo by Hugo Boss that was reformulated, but didn't use it that much .. didn't like it .. bought all my old memories back .. 😍😍 ..

I love this fragrance. "Fresh out of the shower " concentrate in one bottle. Ultra fresh, sporty, aromatic, sour, juicy, effervescent and really strong. This is swiss army knife not only for younger men. Fruity green apple with herbals and a little bit woody. Price is really good. I dont understant this low rating on fragrantica. :(

I received a sample of this and compared it to a sample of Gucci Guilty and Hugo Boss won because of smell and performance. I enjoy the scent. It’s definitely masculine and the performance is above average. I believe you could wear this all year long. It’s also a solid value option/ low price. Probably a good office scent/ gym,etc.

my dad used to wear this, very clean and youthful, better as a night fragrance than a day fragrance. now i wear a cheap dupe with better longevity. perfect for parking garages and cigarettes. the top note is supposedly green apple, but it smells more like fresh cold green apples rather than the typical "green apple" smell

There's something beautifully nostalgic about this fragrance that makes it feel like a hug in a bottle. It's fresh and clean, without being overly shower gel. Definitely feels "old school" compared with a lot of modern fragrances, but worth a pick up if you like a bit of 90s style nostalgia.

Been wearing this as an everyday fragrance and it does the job wonderfully. Man has some great apple tones then after a while it settles down to a nice woody pine scent. It's definitely suited to more summery weather but it's up to you when you wear it. Solid 8.75/10

Hugo was my first cologne back in the 00s. Wore it all through high school. Saw this the other day and decided to pick it up, smells as great as I remember it. I didn’t know this is a different version than the original but it smells the same to me.

Very nice pine wood with a whiff of apple that comes and goes. This is a timeless men's scent that can be worn everywhere from work to the club, would be better in summer but wouldn't be astray on a mild winter day either

Very woody, not like Burberry hero which is quite sweet and sawdust wood. This is more fresh cut grass near a forest kinda wood. Often a total bargain when on offer you can get 200ml for less than 40

One of the best scent profiles on the market right now tbh. It’s unique and pleasant, and you could wear this every day, every month, every year. 9/10 would be a 10/10 if it lasted longer.

Updated version of the classic, loved the OG this one is pretty close and for me performs better than expected with my skin. Not the OG but definitely one of my office frags. 7/10

My favorite cologne of all time and signature scent and great value, for me it last pretty long especially on my clothes and a good fresh fragrance you can't go wrong with

its good for spring. if I had to describe it in 1 word, I would say rainforest, because thats what it smells like. it could be for any age but its better for young people.

I remember smelling the OG back in the day and was hooked, the remake is just as good and keeps that same DNA. Not in my top frags but definitely has a place in my heart.

One of my favorite summer scents of all time – minty, woody, soapy, and masculine – however for ethical reasons (BDS) I would never recommend purchasing this. 9.6/10 imo

The perfume shop said that Hugo Boss - Hugo Man is the same as the OG and the only difference is the packaging and bottle design .. 🤔🤔

#1063 in my "Tour de Fragrance" One of the reasons I hike the three miles around a lake twice each day, weather permitting, is I love the smell of the woods. So while it's kind of old school for a men's fragrance (sort of surprising as this was introduced in 2021) the smell of wood, pine and fir trees evokes the outdoors for me. I don't do much camping these days, but there was a time when I did it most every weekend and this has that vibe. To me it doesn't come off like PineSol, Mrs. Meyers Lavender Laundry Soap, or any other cleaning product. Not like Pino Sylvestre's stuff, which is definitely cleaning product. This is a crisp, likeable and low price greenie. Not complex at all, and while the opening is sharp, the dry down is more likeable. I think the best scents of this sort are more complex than this, and I would choose any of Jacques Bogart's greens over this. "Bogart", "Bogart Pour Homme", "One Man Show", One Man Show Emerald Edition", "Force Majeur." All in the same price range, but they offer more depth and are more attractive, though they can get cloying if you overspray. Nevertheless I consider this a successful blind buy as I will certainly wear it in the wintertime like now, when there's fresh snow on the ground. Good longevity and sillage. Probably wouldn't do piney scents like this in a car pool, but otherwise you can wear this to work. Not warm weather wear or evening wear for me.

Hi Guys 👋 I recently picked this fragrance up, and I think I am now ready to write my review of this scent Starting with presentation: The bottle design is minimalist, but easily recognizable as a Hugo fragrance, It feels suprisingly high quality and atomizer is quite impressive for the price. The scent: Starts off very nice and fresh, with slightly spicy, aromatic, fresh apple notes. The opening fades quickly though, and the fragrance transforms into a still quite light but more woody scent, with on my skin, a slight touch of smoke and gorgeous pine. As time moves on, the lavender srarts to move forward and brings a very pleasant, fresh almost soapy feeling with it. The scent won't blow anyone away, but it sure is somewhat unique, and interesting (not very complex though). Performance: I get 4-5 Hours on my skin, with medium to intimate projection. The slight sillage trail smells very pleasant ☺. Who should wear this, and when? This fragrance is more suited for younger guys, age 16 to 24, no younger than than 15 though, since it has a slightly more masculine, mature feeling to it. I personally think this is well suited for every season. Great everyday, signature scent option. Summary: Great fresh, woody masculine scent for younger men and excellent for everyday wear. I think it's great value for the money as well! Blind buy worthy! Hope this helped 🙏

smelled this on a guy friend (it's his signature) - and it's actually one of the most interesting scents I've smelt on a guy. memorable and somewhat unique (imo it's the green apple) yet it's still inoffensive and a crowd-pleaser. wood was definitely the most prominent note, followed closely by that apple top note which stays throughout. these two are smoothed out by a little lavender and the fresh spiciness from the fir note is scattered through. I swear I picked up a pretty strong leather note too, although it's not listed here. this scent definitely has personality, but it's still approachable, and office/school safe. I'd imagine it would be pretty versatile for all seasons/weather too (smelt it on my friend in very hot weather late in the afternoon and it seemed to be holding up pretty well). overall, from a female pov (although this scent is pretty unisex & I could definitely see women rocking it too), I definitely like it and would think any guy wearing this would be pretty cool!

This is an amazing and nostalgia scent. I would not wear this at night as sillage is very strong and last forever on my skin at about 6-8 hours which is not monster but amazing. I spray this at night the other day and I just getting bothered at night at how it kept smelling when I went to bed. I feel like this is one of the few colognes where I would not spray at night but only during day and it's mostly a summer/spring but I feel like this is good on all seasons. If your not a fan of green apple and lavender then stay away because the top note and middle note takes forever on my skin before it goes woody dry down on about 5 hours or so. I wish this was cheaper but got formulated and somehow got a bit stronger than the original. This is the only og scent that I know that got stronger instead of weaker since it's first release.

😲I just purchased Hugo Man Hugo Boss for men (released 2021) after my original bottle from the late 1990's went rancid and had to throw away. I have to tell you this is a much better version from the original. You can really smell the lavender, apple and woody notes equally. I walked by local Macy's dept. store and noticed the bigger bolder letters on the tester bottle I asked the sales lady if the fragrance maker redesigned the bottle? She mentioned this was a new denser version of the 1995 original version. I wanted to do a test spray before I bought it and I said to myself "This is what the original version should have been like." Now that cosmetics giant COTY owns HUGO BOSS fragrances they're probably going to make more flankers of the original....WHY NOT. 🤷♂️😮

Juicy green apple opening that grabs your attention. It’s fresh, clean, and gives off that crisp-air feeling like you’ve just stepped outside on a cool morning. Very green and piney — smells like I just went camping, surrounded by trees, with a mix of pine needles, and woods. The soapy lavender adds a nice clean touch that keeps everything balanced and wearable. It has that “fresh out the shower” vibe while still feeling natural and grounded. This is a great everyday signature scent that works in all seasons — the fresh green apple and soapy vibe fit perfectly for spring and summer, while the green piney woods make it just as fitting for fall and winter. Inoffensive, versatile, and easy to like. Moderate projection and longevity, and for a great price.

Hugo man, a staple from my childhood. I decided to get this one because I felt nostalgic, my uncle used to wear it all the time around 2006-2008 or so, from what I can remember. Its distinctive bottle stayed in my memory, as well as its scent. I remember a smell of eggs from when my uncle used it before, thankfully I didn’t catch it this time! That was one of my fears. Now to the review: - very solid winter/cold fall fragrance, very masculine, alright sillage, somewhat bad longevity. - more suitable for a daily fragrance than a date fragrance. Unless it’s a casual date I wouldn’t recommend wearing this to a fancy restaurant night date. Not that it doesn’t hold up, it’s just not unique enough for that. - bottle design 10/10, longevity 5/10, scent 8/10

Hugo Boss is the ultimate classic mens daytime fragrance. I think of my brother when I smell this, he went through bottles in the 90's, from what I can recall in my mind then it was very uplifting and pleasant and this version is definitely along a similar line. A woody pine, lavender, juicy apple sweet heaven. It's not winning any longevity awards, after three hours with me it's a skin scent which is unfortunate. It's been watered down over the years but I refuse to trash it. My age won't allow me to lol. If you lived throughout the 90's, you'll really appreciate Hugo Man. There are amazing deals on 200ml bottles going around. I got one for like 40 euros or something. Insane value for such a cracking daytime scent. Overspray all you want!
