Maxximus IX

Maxximus IX is classified by the manufacturer as a fougère-amber-woody perfume aimed at the male audience. Its fragrance brings top notes of lavender, mint, artemisia, and tangerine, followed by a body of cypress, patchouli, geranium, tonka bean, cocoa, and caramel. In the base, notes of sandalwood, cedar, vetiver, amber wood, and musk were combined. Maxximus IX underwent tests with focus groups and the most voted and appreciated result, blindly, was this one, which hits the market with a moss green bottle, symbolizing harmony, growth, and renewal. My experience with Maxximus IX is certainly different from the others, because, since the first contact with this final version (I also got to know the previous one), my brain made an immediate connection with a fragrance from Serge Lutens that I am passionate about: Vetiver Oriental. If there, sandalwood and vetiver contrast with the chocolate note, here lavender and mint play seesaw with the notes of patchouli and cocoa. The style is the same, the fragrances are not. Maxximus IX touches the skin in an herbal and bitter way, but this bitterness of the artemisia note is ephemeral. Quickly, the lavender brings a more aromatic and smooth tone, which precedes the beauty of patchouli and cocoa. That's when the fragrance's personality and the most innovative side of the creation are revealed. The evolution is slow, and it is not possible to measure, in minutes, the exact moment in which the woods are more present. In Maxximus IX, this is room for hours! It takes a long time for the softness of the sandalwood to reveal itself and for the vetiver to deliver its most earthy scent. Who will accompany you, like your faithful friends, will be cocoa and caramel. The advantage, in this case, is that this accord is not sweet or cloying, because the aromatic and balsamic nuances of the top do not allow it. Maxximus IX is not very versatile, but its mentholated appearance guarantees sophistication and easy acceptance in daytime use and in professional environments, especially air-conditioned environments. Between classification and performance, this fragrance behaves, on the skin, as aromatic-woody-gourmand. The drying is very pleasant, exhales without mercy, and lasts for more than ten hours. In my opinion, Maxximus IX is modern and, above all, differentiated. For me, so far, it brings the most innovative (and authorial) fragrance among the others that are marketed to the male audience. And I'll go further: it's shareable. You know that coffee you drink after lunch and harmonize perfectly with a dark chocolate mint square? So, this square represents Maximus IX.
