Aristo Chypre

Patchouli-forward modern chypre. It gives the sensation of a deep rose without it screaming "rose" - No soapiness or much of a vintage nod. It's a bit synthetic smelling to my nose, but not enough to turn me off. The Patchouli retains its aquatic nature in addition to the little bit of chocolateyness. It all blends into a warm, sweet, slightly floral, slightly earthy hug. Not a lot of projection here, but it does seem like there's longevity. Gets a touch too sweet for me on the dry-down, some concoction of aromachemicals that sticks around with the Patchouli. Maybe the least challenging of any chypre I've smelled... Could be a good entry point for folks! Don't think this will be full bottle for me, but I will enjoy the sample.

Reminds me of something I enjoyed decades ago. When I was a young teenager. Maybe something purchased at Walmart/kmart. Or something a teacher wore. I can't put my finger on it. It's a good scent just not a scent for me. Overall very impressed with the Iconic sample set I purchased. Someone complained about longevity but I've been surprised with the longevity. Lasted on my clothes 24 hours.

Another way a big cosmetics/fragrance company gouges customers. I'm not ever going to try or buy anything from Coty. Their original fragrances were good. then cheapened over time, and eventually disappeared. Now every company "reimagines: or re invents scents, when there is absolutely no need to do this, except to line their pocketbooks. Look at Estee Lauder and their Legacy collection. $420 cdn for a revamped thin version of a $48 dollar reformula that is still available and still better than the latest version. Shameful.
