Hauto

I love light airy floral fragrances that envelope you in scent and this has one of the most delicious twists—a luscious pineapple note. I wasn't sure I would even smell it after reading reviews that some people couldn't. That would have been disappointing because I love the smell of pineapple, and it was the main reason I wanted to try this scent. But I'm happy to report I can, and throughout the wear no less. The pineapple adds such a beautiful exotic aspect to this scent. It's not sweet, syrupy, or dense, but like what you smell in the air when you are cutting up a ripe, juicy pineapple. It blends so beautifully with the sweet, in full bloom tuberose and a delicate kiss of rose giving this fragrance a touch of the tropics. Though this fragrance isn't powdery, being too fresh for that, there is a light muskiness here that adds softness without compromising the sparkling bergamot and subtle spices. However, I believe there are some newfangled molecules here (ambroxan? Iso?) that I usually hate that are so often used in perfumes today. Fortunately, they are done so lightly it is barely noticeable. I suspect they are acting as an enhancer, diffusing the scent into an airiness that I love, while also contributing to the great longevity. While this smells wonderful right now, I think this will smell even better in the summer when I am engulfed in this deliriously narcotic scent. I haven't bought a backup bottle of a fragrance in a long, long time, but I find this so addictive, I am seriously considering it. I don't think this one ounce, even if it is an extrait, is going to last very long.

This is definitely the most versatile Tuberose which I know and which I have. Hauto is really enjoyable, comfortable and sensual and this is one of the rare Tuberose scents where it is balanced and somehow restrained. So if you are sensitive with many Tuberose scents and think those are too strong you can give this a chance. Hauto (with ^ on the top of u) is Esperanto and it means “skin” and that tells a lot of this amazing scent. “Hauto is an invitation to experience the fragrance of skin.” In the opening you can get a hint of Pineapple which stays faint in the background for a while. Tuberose is strong in the opening but it’s sensitive and “friendly”. Rose and spices are barely noticeable. Tuberose somehow melts into the skin with amazingly soft Musk base. All those together create something unique which actually is like a second skin in the tempting, sensual, sophisticated way. I fell in love with this scent again and again every time I wear it. The simple, elegant 30ml bottle is adorable and easy. “During the Roaring Twenties, French Cancan dancers in the celebrated cabarets of Paris had their own very specific perfume rituals. I really love this scent. It is a beautiful tuberose and the pineapple in the top notes gives it a slightly tropical feel without it being too sweet. I don't like perfumes that are too sweet or fruity, but this is just enough to make it unique as a tuberose scent. It is very alluring. I think it will be an evening scent for me. I am getting images of a glamorous lady in black sparkling evening gown bedecked in jewels. Confident and exotic with a mysterious air about her. I love the bottle and the packaging. The black and gold typeface evocative of 1920s art deco. It feels both vintage and modern. There is also the perfect amount of spice and it warms into a lovely musky creamy tuberose in the dry down. I get a bit of vanilla, although it is not listed in the notes. It reminds me ever so slightly of Fragile by Jean Paul Gaultier. It has some similar notes. Fragile was my signature scent in the early 2000s and I miss it so much! It can never be replaced. But it is great to find something new that is just as unique. I am at the beginning of my perfume journey. But Hauto could be a new signature for me. It is sophisticated and alluring with a touch of the exotic. Quite a rich perfume. So one spritz is enough.

I am a crazy tuberose lady. For me it's impossible to have a Best Tuberose; there's just too many different varieties that are executed so beautifully. If forced to pick it would probably be Bikini Questa, which will hopefully give some kind of idea about what tuberose type I'm generally the most partial to. Loud, streamlined (get that etc floral bouquet out of there please) and fruity perhaps? That long segue aside I don't know that there really are any truly new and exciting tuberoses. Everything is going to be Michael Kors/Truth or Dare/Fracas to someone.... Hauto certainly doesn't break any rules or do anything super exciting. But! I love it! The pineapple (which is a note I don't generally enjoy) is tart and fresh; it melts into the slightly camphorous tuberose note perfectly. If you are also a crazy tuberose person I highly recommend you try it; I'm sure its just fill in the blank tuberose with pineapple; but for me it's worth it's spot on my tuberose list!

Tropical tuberose in the opening, fresh but not green, made sweeter by the pineapple note. It is slightly spicy and the rose gives it a bit of tartness. As it dries, the creaminess and waxiness of the tuberose get stronger but never overpowering or cloying. After about one hour it is very nice, it projects a soft floral, elegant scent. It is probably more adequate for spring/summer. It carries the same simplicity of Do Son, but it is not as fresh and juicy. This is more mature tuberose (the flower, not who's wearing it). Probably one of the top 10 tuberose in my wardrobe.
