French Lime Blossom

Fits right in my fave scent wheelhouse. I love first-spring, floral, fresh, creamy-dreamy scents that do not morph into musky-gourmand notes once they settle down. Yeah, I guess you’d say simple linear one-note kind of frags. Part of that is because I’m an RN on an acute unit and I need to keep it simple with smelling clean or it’s too much for my (critically ill) patients. And I work a lot of hours with zero “love” life, so this is it for me - lol. But I digress! French Lime Blossom on my skin first smells sharp alcohol-like. As it settles after 5 min, it warms into a creamy soft floral. I imagine myself in a light cotton dress, the sun dancing off the waves as a light breeze wafts over me, bringing the scent of floral trees and bushes blooming nearby. To me, it brings me such serene happiness - exactly how I feel when I’m completely relaxed and refreshed without a care in the world. (And makes me realize I need to take a vacation!) Biggest downer - it’s gone in literally 1 hour. Absolutely zero longevity. Huge negative with the price point it has. One of my all-time faves though as far as scent experience.

Generally, I dislike florals and prefer woodsy, incensed-based, relatively austere fragrances. That said, I will never be without French Lime Blossom. I can't claim it's revolutionary, but it is crisp, clean, and beautiful. Initial application is a delicate floral scent evoking spring. On clothes the floral scent is retained for far longer than on skin: it's still clearly discernible 24 hours after a spray. Eventually it naturally succumbs to a soapy - if expensive soapy - smell. For me, I find this inexplicably comforting. It reminds me of a Mom, in the oddest way. In keeping with that; when I'm grumpy at the prospect of another 5 hour airline experience, I spray this to soothe me during the flight. When I wake up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep, I make some tea, spray French Lime Blossom, and curl back up in bed. Sexy? No. But it'll be what I wear Christmas day, surrounded by family. I believe I have my holy grail for a clean fragrance.

Somehow, French Lime Blossom is too often overlooked, otherwise people might complain less of Jo Malone being "too expensive for what it is". Do yourself a favour and skip the sample strip - spray this one directly on the skin (and while you're at it - spray on English Pear and Freesia on one arm). On the strip it was meh, but on the skin during a sunny day - I was sold! It has a certain "je ne sais quoi". I actually think there is something to this comparison with Paris in the Spring - not in the way it smells necessarily - but in the atmosphere it brings about. So what does it smell like? The top notes are fresh and dry, but give it time and it will bloom with the warmth of your skin. Its is both powdery and creamy, and unlike most Jo Malone scents, it has great longevity and a moderate sillage. To conclude - its a fresh green tenacious honey scent :).

Boy do I ever love this fragrance ! I had never smelled linden blossoms my entire life until a couple of years ago ! My husband and I were cycling in Prince Edward Island Canada and as we went by this one area of our ride I kept smelling this amazing scent in the air . Everyday for almost a week I would ask if we could bike to that spot . I became obsessed with trying to find out what it was ... finally found a park ranger who told us what it was . This fragrance is that exact same smell and every time I put it on it brings back so many happy memories . For me this is a gorgeous floral that in no way smells like a cleaning product . It smells very classy and elegant . Sadly this has been discontinued so I will treasure my bottle !

I am back having this beauty. This is true linden - not lily of the valley, not tuberose - linden when there is a bit of breeze that rocks the branches of the trees, airy but substantial, delicious!!! But not just that - there is honey, there is rose, there is a bit of citrus. Delight. It is very summery, good in both cool and hot weather. Boat trip down the river Thames to Hampton Court with Pimm's half way in Richmond. I like to spray it on my hair and there is a whiff of fragrance when the wind moves it. My boyfriend likes it too, you know, it may not be sexy but it is lovely and comforting, and very recognisable. Like having a relationship, ok, mock me now:)) But I am back having this beauty...

Since this was discontinued, I’ve been on a years-long search for the holy grail: a near-perfect dupe. I’ve spent so much time and money on samples with similar accord profiles, and similar notes (thanks, Fragrantica, for making the note research possible and even fun), but to no avail. I found lots of fragrances that were somewhat similar, even a few that were utterly beautiful (though prohibitively expensive, alas), but not a single one that came close to scratching the very specific FLB itch. Until now! To my nose, French Lime Leaves by Jenny Glow is essentially a replica. YMMV, but it’s so inexpensive it may be worth a blind buy.

I love linden, and this cologne is one of my favorite renditions of the scent. Unlike many other linden fragrances French Lime Blossom is a full-bodied, heady floral, devoid of airy lightness, or honeyed undertones. French Lime Blossom can be as sharp and shrieking as the boldest of tuberoses, and it can give me a terrible headache. But it smells so beautiful, I can't resist it. When I wear this, I lightly spray the back of my knees, and occasionally I'm brave enough to put it, very, very lightly, on my wrists. Any place closer to my nose is just too much. This is a must-have for linden lovers, because its so true to the flowers.

If anyone is considering purchasing this fragrance and you absolutely love linden blossoms and honeysuckle as previous reviewers have mentioned then you will truly fall in love with this fragrance for spring! However, I want to mention that I was shocked by the inflated prices for this perfume in the ads below-please don't forget to do your homework and shop around for the best price. I paid $110.00 for the 3.4 oz. size at a very high end department store online. If you want to keep an extra $40.00 or 50.00 in your pocket don't be fooled by all of the online shopping "deals"!!!

I absolutely love this scent! I usually don't like perfumes that are as green as this, but although the floral is subtle to my nose, it seems somehow to be perfectly balanced with the green. For me it starts with a rush of freshly cut grass; then the florals start to emerge, not separate, but beautifully part of the whole, lovely linden blossom and jasmine. This scent stays fresh and lovely on me for a long time. An absolute favourite.

I think that this fragrance is the best by Jo Malone! The linden blossom note in it is gorgeous!!! Only this note opens absolutely wonderful and leading only in the warm or hot weather. I wish only there was less even not the lily-of-the-valley, but petitgrane. It even makes me sneezing( This fragrance is very elegant. Light, but intensive. I love it because of the natural smelling linden blossom! Fantastic!!!

July 2016 - wearing it today in the Midwest. Temps are in the upper 70°'s. This wears so well on days with higher temps and cooler temps. Fresh, clean. I am wearing the bath oil only and projection, sillage and longevity are high, and it will continue that way into the evening. No need to refresh. The oil is serving me better than the cologne. Fragrance is timeless, casual or dressy. Luv it.

I purchased samples of this, and like it very much. I love the scent of lime, and it definitely shows in this fragrance. I get a lot of citrus with an underlying sweetness from the florals, but it stays very green at the same time. It's an interesting fragrance, and I'll probably be ordering more!

Makes me feel sunny, even on a cloudy day. As a cologne, it lasts longer than expected. My new favorite. Accidentally and surprisingly found out the aroma is enhanced when I spray it on after using Burt's Bees baby lotion (I have little ones) as it has a natural honey/beeswax fragrance.

I adore this fragrance. It reminds me of when I was very young (like the other lady said about the Avon product) and honeysuckle. It has lasted on me, whereas some of the other Jo Malone scents have not. I have only the sample and will definitely buy this one. Love it!!

I absolutely love this. I tried it as a sample and then was able to purchase an ounce on e-bay for a reasonable price. It smells deliciously of lime blossom with hint of peppery essence. It also is long lasting on me. It would be nice to have the body cream, too.

This has to be my favorite scent when I marry it with Jo Malone Vintage Gardenia. It is beautiful by itself too. Just love it love it love it.

Lovely interpretation of linden. On my nose, it's a delicate, yet refreshing floral on a base of very expensive French-milled soap.

French Lime Blossom Jo Malone London (90 usd, 100 ml. Tester, BA6) I acquired this bottle from 2016 since July 2023. My palette didn’t develop as much as now. French blossom was borderline declutter so many time but I hang on to it.. I compare this to another one “ le Chèvrefeuille” by goutal; sweet honey suckle fragrance with juicy nuance. To die, for. I wish I know one thing before that “French Lime Blossom” not actually white flower family even it has the word “lime” actually it belongs to yellow floral family. If this fragrance calls Linden blossom and it would make much more sense from the get go. Each of yellow floral has it owns property. As far as I know. Mimosa is powdery, Ylang is buttery. Both are bright and warm to the degree. Linden blossom, actually glimpse more like Mimosa but less powdery more pollen like. French Lime Blossom (for short : FLB) as her original creation, Even it easy to understand, it has depth to certain degree. The structure of FLB is truly floral green fragrance. The glass like-taragon are hinting at Galbanum. Floral aspect of Linden pushing by other floral support. The scent is mildly aromatic (herbaceous). Everything was pause by beewaxs which is wax like. This aspect either reminds Soapy or Waxy. Maybe in way you perceive the scent. I never really smell Linden in my life but ad describe from other people. The smell should spread in the air therefore the scent may not as dew/juicy as small floral from white floral family. I would says FLB is slightly vintage and older demographic would highly appreciate the fragrance that not too loud, as you know vintage wearer with beautiful norm. It has certain amount of powderiness, floral-dominant. Truly thankful to Linden support. The profile certainly link with older dna of fragrance. It that green genre but less complicate, more floral support. The concept must truly ahead of its time in 1995. However, I can totally see FLB can be discontinued because it will not be able to please any younger audience with associations of green scent with grandma. It is the world of amber now. This natural creation are disappearing from the market. FLR need certain experience to be appreciate. That’s why FLR have cult follower. The brand may says yeah but you can also use (Wild bluebell and etc). but narcotics yellow blossom fragrance like this will only be answer to certain user only. I wish Jo Malone carry on the scent like Chanel doing with No.5 and COCO. Score : unscoreable (for me I enjoy as 7/10) Projection : Low Longevity: Moderate Classification : Femme Summary : The forgotten yellow blossom. Extension 1 : I love to layer this with Starlit Mandarin & Honey. Which is coumarin rich with citrus undertone. I becomes more honeyed, with linden support and green note is much pushing back. I bring scent a bit more modern scale but with fresh tint that I adore. Extension 2 : This scent is discontinued in 2018, with no recreation until now. Original scent was created by “Lautier Florasynth”(Bayer’s perfumer company). She co-create this with Patricia Choux. Extension 3 : November 9, 2024 I don't think scent will ever be recreated as one of material Isoeugenal is restricted on IFRA amendment 49 to 0.11%..

Imagine walking along a shady avenue mid afternoon enveloped in all the typical city smells. A sudden breeze delights you with a fleeting scent.Sadly it vanishes before you put your finger on it. The fact this aroma came to you out of nowhere makes it all the more alluring,a gift on the wind. My relationship with Joe Malone's French Lime Blossom perfume is...complicated. I blame any shortcomings of this scent on my skin chemistry. The opening reminds me of The Body Shop`s Moringa Body Butter. Then something almost deadly comes on bitter and strong. On my skin it reads more citronella than citrus It`s bitter orange or Campari. I am sipping a negroni in the middle of a freshly oiled dirt road. What I suspect was intended to be a bees wax middle is reminiscent of hot asphalt. I also detect an astringent tea flavor along with waxy magnolia. Slowly the poison fades. Floating just above all these dirty secrets is a fragrance so lovely it almost makes me want to cry. This is what Martha Stewart probably wore the day she was indicted. Honestly I don't recall ever smelling a linden tree but it definitely reminds me of the outdoors, not in a deep woodsy way. More like a tree lined street or veranda. Silage is moderate to strong on me. This is a fragrance that wafts up through the air via movement better at a distance than directly on the skin. I'd wager a bank teller or librarian could really rock this. I wish I could wear this scent better. I gave my sample to a friend and on her FLB smells sublime. This would make a knock out signature for a no nonsense iconic women with the right chemistry.

I haven't smelled linden/lime blossom. Although I've smelled a few fragrances that showcases the flower itself, including this and tilia codorata by acca kappa. Comparing to acca kappa's; they both smell the similar but, that one has a VERY interesting green, moist, mossy scent with it. This one is a tad biiit sweeter, This one doesn't have that mossy green scent at all, but this has a zesty, bright ligtly tart citrus scent, although i'm not sure if that's the lime (pretty sure it is), because I haven't smelled lime before, and I don't often smell it in any other products. It also has a veeery subtle, faint soapyness. When I smell it from a distance; I can smell the very light soapyness, but when I stick my nose to the spot where I sprayed it on my arm; I can detect the zesty ligtly tart citrus note. 8.5/10

Sprayed with French Lime Blossom Cologne at 13:30 and it completely vanished at 17:00. I'm not dissapointed by the lasting power because as an Eau de Cologne you can't expect much, but three hours are very good perforance for this EDC. Stays close to the skin all the time, so this truly is for the ones who don't want to announce their presence with their perfume. The scent has a vintage vibe, a faint memory of the perfumes of the past, which is a plus. Definitely a scent of grooming. After a vague opening, it truly develops imto a beautiful, luminous and rather simplistic linden blossom, it is clear linden blossom. It is green, powdery, strachy maybe. No sweetness. Reminds me of the structure of Diorissimo Dior, the latest editions. I smell white musk instead of beeswax. A yes from me

I just had to review this one, because I just recieved it for Christmas. I sampled it many years ago and really liked it. I put it on the back burner though, because it was only available in two stores near me. For some reason, I've been craving it recently. There was something so innocent and nostalgic about it. Then, it dawned on me what it smells like. In the 70's, I had a few of those Avon perfumed pins. They were for kids and had solid perfume in them. This is what French Lime Blossom smells like. Now that I think about it, somebody gave my daughter one, in the late nineties. I think it was a little snow man. It smells like French Lime Blossom too. What a great fragrance memory!!

First impression – you are eating honeycomb sitting under a flowering linden tree. Sweet scent, but not cloyingly. After first notes die down, citrusy notes start creeping out – its crispy freshness interrupts sweetness and substitutes honey. At this point all the concoction smells a bit like shampoo. After a short while what you have is again a dreamy linden scent – perfect for summer evenings or spring outings. Somehow I can’t quite see myself wanting to wear this in colder months, for its very crispiness doesn’t suit cold at all. For me it’s a perfect perfume for warm weather. Very intimate, stays close to the skin: after an hour only a whiff was left.

I have been on the hunt for a linden (lime blossom) fragrance that would remind me of the linden tree lined streets of Eastern Europe in the late Spring- Early Summer. This one is it! The linden scent is very accurate and realistic. Mixed with the green & floral notes, it really evokes the feeling/memories I was looking for. However, it turns out that I don't actually want to smell like that. I'd love this as a linen or room spray - or maybe even a candle - but I'm not a huge fan of it as a wearable fragrance. I'll keep it in my collection, but only for the feelings the fragrance evokes, not because I love wearing it.

This scent is nice soft floral and soapy. Also that its sillage is not too bad coz i spray on my wrist and its pretty scent always touch my nose. The scent from first to end is quite linear on me and it does the familiar feeling, the familiar scent of a soap in my memory. I keep sniffing my wrist and thinking a soap, a soap, a soap, an unusual soap, the real floral scent soap, the comfy scent and Yahoo, it's Lush's retro collection >> Lily Savon. In Spring time, dress up femininely, wear this scent and let's take a walk. It's just perfect!

My first experience with a Jo Malone fragrance, and it is a positive one. Definitely a pleasing, spring-time green tree blossom floral with staying power. I grew up in the Midwest and though we did not have lime trees there, upon the first whiff I was transported somewhere back in memory. For me, the strong evocative experience of the cologne was actually more significant than the fragrance itself--organic and true.

The Jenny Glow version of this (French Lime Leaves) has the beeswax , green notes like fresh hay, and linden blossom. Linear but with decent duration, it is a full round scent that is reminiscent of the 5th Ave type of yellow florals without smelling dated. Definitely reminds me of Moringa blossom by Body Shop and honey franrances like Pure Honey. Perfect on a wet spring English day like today.

Not a review but I see a lot of people looking for the lime scent or the lime fruit blossom scent... French lime blossom is linden and linden does not produce an edible lime fruit. It's a totally different tree.The most common way of consuming linden is in tea, from the dry blossoms. So no it won't smell like limes but it really does smell like linden (tilleul in French).

I love this scent. It captures linden blossoms so well. It's the perfect fragrance to wear when you get out of the shower and don't want to wear "perfume," but you also feel that you need to spray SOMETHING on or you won't feel quite right. This will keep you smelling like some kind of sweet, floral, moisture-rich, milky soap all day long.

it's a pleasant fragrance and i've been complimented for it. but somehow i won't buy it again - while i love citrusy fragrances, i feel this one kind of sits on my skin rather than mingles blends with my natural scent. hence i'm not buying it again, not at that price. but if someone gifts me a bottle, that's another thing (:

I used to have a full bottle of this and took years to be able to finish it, as contrary to other comments, this comes off as quite strong on me with a lot of longevity and sillage. Even gave me a headache few times so had to decrease wearing it. Fresh citrusy floral but doesn’t suit me much. 6/10

Very nice scent, not what one would expect when hearing the word ‘lime’, it is a light floral rather than a citrus or fruity smell, quite delicate and cheerful. And I agree with Jole_pinoy paired with Oud & Bergamont, this becomes a signature scent - very nice indeed.

To me this smells like Annick Goutal Eau du Ciel but softer and sweeter. It is just beautiful. In Bilbao in spring time we have linden trees bloosoming and it feels like carrying all the flowers with you. It is uplifting and romantic for the office and for a date.

If this scent came in a bar of soap I'd totally stock up on them. Lovely clean soapy floral, though it did smell like sunscreen at first. On me it also momentarily reminds me of Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. Sunscreeny lime scent.

A really pretty fragrance. On me, the initial notes are floral and then the pefume becomes almost doughy but is saved by the zesty notes of the lime. It's light and refreshing, with moderate sillage and very good longevity.

A very pretty, flowery fragrance which my husband loves. It's a bit light for me & doesn't seem to last long. Of course all Jo Malone's fragrances can be 'mixed & matched' to create your own unique fragrance. How clever!

I don't see why people characterize this as sweet. It's a clean, cool, refreshing soapy scent. Vert elegantly clean and crisp. I wish it lasted longer though, it's gone after two hours so I keep the mini in my purse.

Lovely warmly sweet linden floral- in the nice way it has of intensifying with heat and activity, it reminds me a bit of Poeme and SL's Fleurs d'Oranger- try it!

To me this is hyacinth and citrus.No linden blossom whatsoever .Its nice and very spring like but that’s all about it.Reminds me of Diorissimo.

It smells like a luxurious soap. It makes you feel fresh and clean. The sillage is quite weak and longevity is moderate.

Walking under lime trees in June, in Europe...heaven, reminds me of childhood and being a student! I love it!

High end resort soap fragrance (a clean, floral/soap rather than fresh soap). Linear. It doesn't read sexy or interesting or deep, its soap. Projection & sillage bowled me over for three hours and then it faded. For the first hour, it dominates my surroundings, announcing my arrival a good 30 seconds before i waltz into a room- hello woman with soapy floral coming through....It wears me rather than the other way around. As a result, I'll pass on this soap.

Upon spraying, it's a burst of a peppery-citrus scent. There is a hint of green bitterness to it. The florals then add a softness to the punchy citrus, however the florals aren't particularly interesting. As with many other Jo Malone fragrances, (looking at you, Wood Sage and Sea Salt) the performance is not good. After an hour and a half I only smell it faintly if I smell my wrist, and the smell devolves into something very boring (the beeswax?) So unlike WS+SS, the scent isn't particularly delicious either. I don't really know what beeswax is supposed to smell like, but I think I do get it on the dry down, as it seems like that's all that's left- a not sweet, waxy scent if you can call a scent "waxy." The scent is quite linear. Overall I'm not too fond of it. The performance is poor and the scent isn't particularly amazing to me. Nothing offputting, but just boring.

I'm a HUGE linden fan and generally like Jo Malone fragrances. This just didn't work for me. At all. All I got was soap. Pure and simple. SOAP ! i was so excited by the great reviews here of an authentic linden based perfume but it just wasn't meant to be. Glad that others have found something devine but on my chemistry this was pure cheap clean soap. smelt every half hour for several hours and no change or progression. Boy am I glad I didn't blind buy.

I usually like the smell of lime or linden blossom, but to me, this doesn't smell much like either. I get a hint of lime underneath an overpoweringly sweet smell of litsea. Most of Jo Malone' s fragrances smell soapy to me and this is no exception. I'm glad I only have a sample size of this fragrance. If you like sweet florals, you'll probably like this. If you are looking for a true linden blossom or lime blossom scent I would recommend Demeter.

on me this is so syrupy sweet, it knocks my socks off, and not in a fun way. it is hard to compare to any other fragrance I have encountered. I was looking for something a bit cleaner smelling than this, thinking, 'lime blossom, that will be nice,' but maybe it is the beeswax note that makes it feel cloying and heavy. I will be giving away the samples of this which I got, it has a lot of fans, but is just not my cup of tea.

This is my first (and maybe last) Jo Malone perfume. I'm very disappointed. When i spray this perfume i start to feel ill and begin sneezing. I believe i'm allergic to it. This is the only time this happenned to me with a perfume. Now, about the scent itself well i expected some citrusy notes, someting invigorating, but got something too floral and too soapy instead. Again, a big disappointment.

Of the Jo Malone fragrances I'm sorry to say that this is now my least favourite. I bought a small bottle last year along with Wild Fig and Cassis - they were a actually a very good combination. But I found I used up the Wild Fig and Cassis twice as fast and the French Lime Blossom was not the same on its own. I found it too floral and soapy - it made me sneeze! I ended up giving it away.
