Nightflight

So.... Once again... after a long wait to get the right bottle of Vintage (Blue & Chrome Top w/ Lancaster on the bottom) It finally arrived today. While I still think this will have to grow on menI already know Im going to like it! Yes I get the opening of some lemon 🍋 detergent with a whimsical softness added to the Lavender in the mix. The dry down smelled creamy and this is due to that Almond note thats whipped into the sandalwood and tonka Bean accord. . Well blended, but the scent has to develop properly. I will have to report back again in a few weeks or so. I cant stop smelling myself! I cant believe Ive waited this long to finally try this. I have Jump by Lancaster on the way as well. I seem to gravitate towards many Lancaster vintages. Now to find and smell Heaven by Chopard. October 2024 update..... This has been my GO TO ALLLL summer long! I cant wear ANY fragrance in my home anymore due to my partners allergies so Ive also been getting out more. Well, more than usual . I have a dwindling 1oz bottle of the blue cap COTY reformulated version and its my daily but I DO bring out my 2.5iz bottle (chrome cap vintage) on occasion and spray that one a tad heavier just to breathe that juicy pineapple /Lavender bomb however its so unique to me I smell the almonds and sandalwood in the drydown with a similar fruityness that the blue bottle with its embossed stars ⭐️ in the glass itself reminds me of. A magical night whether a moment or forever... its reminds me of my youth when I spent wearing Joop! Homme too much when I could have been collecting every bottle of Nightflight I could get my hands on. Ill have to make due and savor the vintage bottle because the prices are bananas. I really cant stand peoples Greed. Its not my favorite SIN at all. Plenty other “SINS” greater in this planet like Air Conditioning , Raving the night away with a proper Techno DJ , and SEX. (LUST) This has the pinapple that “Aventus” wished it had. It has the drydown ALLLLL the Iso e super bombs with they had. I hope everyone who wants a bottle gets one someday soon. The resellers are out in full force .

In 1992, this fragrance came to the market to conquer men who didn’t surrender to the aroma and the success of Joop! Homme, from 1989. And it was necessary to abandon the sweet and nighttime aspect and go for something more light and daytime, which could suit the taste of all, usually called for us as a wildcard fragrance. Arose, then, another success of Joop! brand, with greater acceptance and keeping the same quality. In my opinion, they just missed in the name. Nightflight should have been called Dayflight, focusing on the idea of a more versatile and daytime fragrance. But let's get down to business! It consists of output notes of pineapple, bergamot, lemon and a touch of coriander. The heart features a masculine floral of jasmine, Lily of the Valley (muguet), rosewood, geranium, roses and almonds. At the bottom, denser notes of sandalwood, amber, musk and tonka bean. The result is an initial citrus aroma, which lasts for a long time, taking into consideration that this accord is more volatile and is at the top of the olfactory pyramid. After about 40 minutes, the floral heart appears, almost out of nowhere, overlapping the citric side and changing the fragrance completely. It is, without a doubt, the big secret of this creation, with emphasis on the notes of jasmine, geranium and almonds. So, when you think that has nothing more to come, the Sandalwood joins the tonka bean and a smooth and creamy base sticks to the skin, like a protective layer, which gives the impression of a fresh and hydrated skin. Nightflight shows a totally opposite side of the standard Joop! man. And although it is far from being a bomb like its predecessor, has good projection and high durability.

My signature scent - the Créme de la Créme of fougère fragrances for me, this is absolutely magnificent on my skin. I just adore the way the citrus and pineapple blend seamlessly with the lavender in the head, then join smoothly with the geranium and rosewood in the heart, to finish by combining with the tonka bean, sandalwood and almond in the drydown. A beguiling, masculine, and extremely tasteful and masterful creation from German luxe house Joop, this fragrance is a beautiful statement of all things exquisite and nostalgic for me. I truly, truly love this scent. It is fresh and dark midnight blue just like the marketing, with a timeless, clean, citrusy, angular presence that speaks modestly of expensive luxury and modernity. There is a luxe serenity that fosters the image of very still water reflecting the evening stars on a warm Summer twilight. I cane across this fragrance in high school, and it has gorgeous memories for me of my long term girlfriend in the Springtime. Times of attending her lacrosse games at posh schools standing on the side of the green in the soft rainfall with my umbrella... Late nights of cinema and being with her. I am deeply saddened that Joop discontinued this fragrance - one may still find it online, but the scarcity has driven the price up to near $400.00 for a 4.2 oz flask which is rather ludicrous, but everybody wants to make a buck. So, I keep this filed away in the recesses of my heart where the candlelit Spring nights reside in fragrant chokecherry and crabapple blossoms and dream....

Joop! Nightflight was the first fragrance that truly captivated me when I encountered it at the age of 16 in 1995. At that time, I had barely explored the world of perfumery, relying mostly on a few deodorants and aftershaves. But Nightflight instantly drew me in, sparking my interest in fragrances in a way that nothing else had before. The opening of Nightflight is striking—it's almost like jump into the cool night sea. The first impression isn’t the typical sharp citrus, but rather a fresh breeze laced with juniper, complemented by the soft touch of lavender. Pineapple subtly threads its way through the composition, adding complexity and depth to the scent. For some, the fragrance might seem synthetic, but I find that quality to be part of its charm—it creates an intriguing, almost mysterious aura. While some critics argue that the scent is too linear, I appreciate how it remains consistent throughout. There are no dramatic or unexpected twists, but rather a steady reveal of the night’s secrets in delicate, cool nuances. It doesn’t overwhelm, but instead provides a calming and steady presence that changes only subtly as time passes. Back then, Nightflight, alongside scents like Kenzo Pour Homme, offered me in 1995 a break from the mass-market options like CK One, which represented youthful freshness but also became ubiquitous. Nightflight felt like a more sophisticated, artistic choice—something that set you apart from the crowd. It wasn’t just a fragrance; it was a statement, a way to express individuality.

This is my 4th fragrance from the house of Joop! I know Joop gets a lot of hate here with people calling their fragrances cheap, synthetic, boring, and other negative comments. Well, IME Joop is one of the best value-based fragrances in the market. Whether hate or love, nobody can say Joop is a copycat house like so many fragrances today that smell alike. Joop is a real innovator from its original Joop Pour Homme (pink bottle) to one of my all time favorite fragrance - What About Adam, which was love at first spray. Nightlight is another Joop fragrance I enjoy a lot and a summer staple in my rotation. Fresh, clean, citrus comes to mind when I wear this masterpiece. I don't get people calling this boring or similar to other colognes because this juice is unique just like the original and King Adam. If there was one fragrance I could compare it to it would be individuel by Mont Blanc. They both have that fresh dryer sheet vibe. Nightlight is not my favorite Joop, that would easily be Adam, followed by Joop Jump, and then the original. Although Nightflight is 4th on my list of Joop fragrances, it's still far ahead of many other fragrances in my summer rotation. Like all Joop releases, it has excellent longevity, especially on clothing. At $23 for 4.2 oz, it's one of the best values out there. Update: I now have my 5th Joop fragrance Joop Wild and I'll be reviewing that one next. On first sniff I got a night at a tropical beach bar vibe in the Caribbean, It has a delicious rum.. That one is going to be fun.

I bought this and wore this since it came out in the mid 90’s. In fact I still own one of the original formulations, as I had more than one bottle at the time. Comment: I think it was ahead of it’s time and actually fits more in this era. I imagine if D&G put this in a blue bottle calling it DARK BLUE, or a Versace called it an Eros flanker, or something of the sorts, I believe it would do very well in popularity and above 3.95 stars rating. Just speculation. Nothing off the charts but holding it’s own. Scent: Extremely fresh scent. Not overly sweet. Slightly fruity but not in feminine way. Just look at the notes above, it’s a shotgun blast of multiple desirable notes, And blended in a very respectable manner. Performance: well i can’t speak for newer formulations, I still own original, but holy cow, as a young man, with no sense of trigger control, it’s was LOUD x 10 to the 10th power. I should have stopped spraying 7 shots ago, and no, that part of a 20 yro’s body does not need 3 sprays of this cologne. Overkill. It would announce your presence as soon as you hung up the phone and told the person you were heading to their house. I think it would actually knock on the door for you. And it would last till you washed those clothes weeks later, and penetrate all other clothes with in a foot. And as a 20 yro, yeh, you would wear that shirt again, of course it’s clean, smell it, duh!

Terrible news my folks :( Coty (those fools, I have no better word for them) discontinued Nightflight! :((( It's a bit hard for me to digest. This was a perfectly approachable chipie that didn't smell cheap at all. Actually this fragrances is gorgeous and sexy. I started to use it when I was teenager, remember that girls came up to me at parties telling me how attractive I smell. :) Yes, it might have lost its relevancy as it was a 90s creation but let's be honest, perfumes from the 90s are gorgeous and full of character, however it still remained sexy, fresh and a bit mysterious. Partly it's my nostalgia I admit, also because it used to be available everywhere for a more than fair price, I'm deeply saddened that Nightflight... well, flew away into the warm summer night forever. I still have 2 or 3 more backup bottles, but seems I won't use them up but treasure them carefully. I shed an imaginary tear saying goodbye to my teenager party fragrance. And a good advice: backup those fragrances that are great but cheap because one day they may discontinue it and you will regret why you didn't back up for pennies when you could (like Nightflight, Tsar, Lanvin Avantgard, Iceberg Man etc.)

Excellent scent that could and should command a much higher price. I have worn everything from Creed to Guerlain to Tom Ford to Jovan. I've sampled the most expensive and the cheapest of the cheap and I have gotten more compliments on this scent than ANY other. This one shocked me. A very simple scent of lemon, lavender, and synthetic pineapple. I detect nothing else here, personally. These three notes alone more than adequately get the job done though. A bit soapy and crisp with just a little underlying sweetness. It works for both day and night and nearly any season, but is a bit too light for regular Winter wear. Smells like a young man who's clean shaven in a fresh linen suit taking a stroll along a Miami pier. Very chic and versatile. It's also quite deceptive. Two sprays and you'd swear it's a skin scent....until the compliments start rolling in. "Oh my god! What are you wearing?! It smells AMAZING!" The only issue I have is longevity. After 2 hours, it's time to reapply. That aside, it IS amazing. Try it and you won't regret it, men. Scent: 8/10 Sillage: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10

This has a very spritzy pineapple and lime note at the opening for me, with a fresh and bright appeal to it. I really wish Aventus had this much pineapple prominence to it. Definitely one of my favorites, although the wife doesn't like it - lol. After the first 30 minutes, the middle notes start kicking in - really complementing the pineapple. The Tonka bean and sandalwood stand out during the drydown, and then the musk really kicks in, which lasts till the end - although a bit too prominent IMHO. Maybe it's just my nose, but I don't get any almond in this frag. Lasts about 10 hours for me with great sillage and projection for the first two hours, and then gradually becomes a skin scent. Got gifted a 5ml mini back in the mid 90's, and have been a big fan ever since. I bought a 125ml bottle of it in 2012, which is still in my collection. To my nose, it's still the same awesome sauce as it was when I had my mini. I could wear this all year long, especially in summer.

I love this! Blind bought this for my Husband at Marshalls and thankfully we both have been enjoying it. Its listed as oriental but its very fresh and uplifting. The top is very zesty with the pineapple, lavender, juniper and citrus. As it dries down to the middle it stays fresh, but a bit of powdery warmth breaks through. The woods and floral combined with the almond is very comforting. The base is an ambery, Tonka, warm musk. Is smells nothing like Joop! Homme, however it does kind of shout out to it with the powdery warm feeling it gives once the zesty top dissipates. Its very clean to me and inoffensive. Would be good in the warm weather. We live in Florida, so it was a perfect bargain buy! I like the bottle design as well. Ladies and Gents keep your eyes peeled for this one, if you see it snatch it up!

NightFlight has been my guilty pleasure for years, especially during wintertime. That's why I'm sad it's been discontinued. I did quite the research though to find the ultimate twin and I found it. It's Jurp! Blue Men by Chatler. Of couse I'd rather have the original (shoutout to the people at Joop!'s), but Chatler did an awesome job approaching it. It's warm, sweet and fresh with those typical notes, just like NightFlight. I also tried Jaguar Classic, which has similarities, but Jurp! is better. It's also an EDP and very affordable. Besides my order there's no connection between me and Chatler, so this is an honest mention. I hope I helped the NightFlight lovers like myself with this tip and maybe I saved you the search for a good replacement. If so, I'd love to hear what you think.

fruity, fizzy, acidic. That is what hits you when you first apply Nightflight and that feeling never really goes away. This scent is all top notes with the middle and base providing subtle reinforcement. If you like what you smell upfront, then you are going to love this scent, because that is what stays with you for hours. if you are not into citrus, acidic pineapple, then look elsewhere. I love it, but I recognise that it is not to everyone's taste. It is definitely a summer scent and, contrary to its name, is equally at home in the daylight as it is after dark. And, unlike the original Joop, it ages well and does not go stale after a few hours. If you are of two minds about th mixed reviews, my suggestion is to try a sample. You'll never never know if you never never go!

Nightflight is very nice. A really clean, fresh, fruity, soapy scent. Reminds me a little of GBH Wings. It has some facets that evolve and emerge over time on your skin. Starts with fruits, bubblegum and lavender - emtremely zesty, sharp and fresh, but I have to say, a bit synthetic. A little later the pineapple comes forward a little - still stays fresh and clean. After a while, I start to smell almonds with fruit - this phase is quite subtle but still very nice. A little later I'm sure I can smell a little licorice mixed in there. All the time it smells great though. Longevity and sillage are only moderate - but the sillage itself is really gorgeous and attention grabbing. Nightflight is a well blended fragrance and it's strangely good.

I owned this perfume between 1994 and 1996... I barely remember the smell from then. I bought it again (bargain at £20 for 125 ml) purely from nostalgic curiosity. Opens with a very sweet synthetic smell but settles to a beautiful addictive drydown which is extremely pleasant!!! Definitely ahead of its time! (Shares some base DNA with its famous brother) I wish it lasted longer and projected further, but this is the sad story of practically every perfume today... I am very happy with it!!!... I just have to spray more!!! (batch number 6302, Oct 2016) Love it! 8/10 EDIT: Amazing sprayer... One push and out it flows a huge amount of juice... It is an extremly fresh scent. At the beggining it smells like a simple cologne but after 10 minutes it shows it's true nature. It smells to me like fresh mountain water mixed with flowers and I don't why - amaretto. You can also smell a pineapple note which works for me perfectly. Later the smell starts to be more delicate and ends up with musky base. One of the most beautiful scents I've ever had. For day and night, it can be worn with polo shirt or a suit as well. Leave it for more special ocassion and you will apreciate it even more. On me it smells for around 6 hours but it's not the "pink poison" Joop! Homme ;) It's a quality scent, that I think will be a classic one in the future. I hope they'll never discontinue it.

I seriously think this may be the best Joop of the lot. What an amazing scent. It reminds me of Aventus but i think this predates the popularity of that one. The opening is so fresh with the pineapple, and the bottle itself gives a decent spritz. I love the lavender infusing itself into the dry down. So as a perfumer, you get the "wake up" and the "relax" vibe quite quickly. Performance is relatively good, compared to Joops own recent outings. I could wear this at work and after the gym. I'm really happy with this. I realise the price is absurd but actually in this one its probably worth that price point if it was ever on sale again. If you have this, treasure it or swap it with me

About 75% done with mine and let me tell you, I loved this frag way back when I first smelled it, got it again, and still love it. It has a cloying musk BUT clean/freshness to it. I would say it's middle ground between strong and light. I've been wearing this and have gotten nothing but compliments. These days it's dropped a lot in price and in my opinion, worth the buy. I'd recommend this in the night but you can pull this off at anytime honestly. If you hated the Joop like I personally do ( Red One that everyone knows ) then you will love this hands down.

This is my vacation scent. This is me, standing barefoot on a beach at midnight, staring out at the ocean, lost in thought and wonder. There is so much nostalgia, anticipation, and so many memories locked inside this bottle. It would be my signature scent, but I don't ever want to get tired of it. I don't want my brain to create associations between this scent and everyday, mundane activities. It's the only fragrance that I love enough to save only for certain occasions.

Reminds me of a kind of liquorish candy I got as a kid. I like this scent. Bought it because of the cool name, and I find myself using it every now and then. Nice bottle and great sprayer. Good for days when I feel extra confident and have a high level energy. On those days it gives me an extra boost. Wearing Nightflight on days when I don't feel all that confident, I might just end up feeling like a clown at a suit and tie party. It stands out!

Brings me back to middle school and high school (mid-late 90's)... This scent is embedded in my memories. Unfortunately, I haven't had(or smelled) since 2000. A unique fragrance which I personally still have not found a solid replica that comes close to Nightflight... Those listed in "Similar Perfumes" are, at best, only 50% the same..... Anybody have a suggestion on a SOLID REPLICA of Nightflight??....... Please
