Healing Berry

This was the first ever fragrance I smelled from Jorum Studios, and I fell in love at first sniff. ‘Healing Berry’ is fresh, fruity, herbal and floral in the best of ways. It may be because I have the scent’s name in my head, but I feel like a crystal witch with actual healing powers, and let’s be real, that is the actual dream. ‘Healing Berry’ I taste the name and I understand completely. This heals me. No one or nothing has ever given me this effect, this is perfume and nature, hand in hand with a big dose of magic, and I love it. (It is well over a year since I first smelled this and I have since samples a few other of their fragrances (also gems!) and I will say, this is still so unique. And even though not all of the fragrances are my personal favourites, they are all sooo goooood, and so very full of stories and every single one literally transports me into their own little world with their own little feelings and powers. This house is being slept on imho) Back to the perfume - The perfume itself starts of sweet but with a tart edge. It is very fruity and the raspberry is very dominating in the beginning, but it is mellow, like a cup of hot raspberry leaves’ tea. The green-ness of this gives a slight floral touch, but the floral notes are never too stand-out, and is overshadowed by the wildly growing bushes of berries. The almost powdery florals in the background gives a slight soapy touch which helps to give this scent that oomph factor that makes you want to keep on sniffing and sniffing forever. 1 hour into the drydown it is a bit more creamy and sweeter. The herbal-ness has lost its kick, but it is still lingering somewhere in the air. I see that there is mentioned a note of cereal, and the creamy sweet smell that this perfume has turned out to be could be a bowl of cereal with some fresh berries. Though, I would never say that if I didn’t know that it was supposed to be there. And here I am, a dedicated rose-hater, telling you all that the rose in this fragrance is nothing to be afraid of. The rose is way too well blended with the herbs and berries that it is not even there except for the floral touch you get after a couple minutes of wear. And even then, you can’t really tell that it is rose.

A bowl of fresh raspberries and Frosted Flakes (no milk ofc) as an after school snack on your back porch after a long day in middle school. Life is good. The opening of this scent a beautiful, fresh, juicy, and realistic raspberry, black current, mint, with a wonderful green/fir tree backbone. Then as it dries down it gets this nice powdery facet and undeniable sugary corn flake like accord that mixes really well with the berries and green tones. Wow. This opening is really really good. As someone who dibbles and dabbles in making perfumes I can tell you that the fact they got it this realistic is the show of a really talented perfumer, big ups. I really like this scent, especially for spring, but for those who find this to lean too “feminine”, I have layered it on top of more woody/heavy fragrances and it really added a nice fruity touch to the fragrance you’re layering it with. One of my favorite from the Scottish odyssey collection. Very surprisingly good performance with moderate projection throughout the whole wearing. 9.2/10 Song Vibe - L'equilibriste by L'Imperatice

OMG it's an actual fresh berry on the bush! I wasn't sure it was possible to make a scent like this. The artimisia, willowherb, and fern give the impression of the greenery surrounding the berries. This aromatic quality smells very clean, almost soapy to my nose. Somehow it reminds me of many soaps and body powders I smelled in Great Britain and Ireland, so McCall nailed the Scottish Odyssey for me. There's maybe a *hint* of the cereals and orris in the drydown. I smell no mint, rose (thank heavens- so over it in combo with berries), or black currant though admittedly, they might be lending themselves in ways unknown to my untrained nose. What can I say? I just ordered a full bottle.

Sweet and candy like, but never immature. The red fruit note smells very natural, almost like being in the Scottish countryside with sticky hands after picking berries. It has that wild outdoors fruit feeling that comes across as real rather than syrupy. In the drydown it becomes beautifully soft and almost musky, with a clear touch of orris adding refinement. The scent keeps developing on the skin which makes it interesting from start to finish. I am normally not a fan of sweet perfumes but this one feels special, natural and very sophisticated. Also very nice go layer with musk or rose fragrances.

Cold Scottish oatmeal and berries on a raw, windy, & wet Sunday in the Outer Hebrides. It’s a feat of perfumery & guarantee you won’t ever smell anything like it. It quite literally smells like I described. It’s most definitely not a blind buy as some will not consider it wearable. I am mightily impressed by this house, and their dedication to the craft of truly niche perfumery. Try a sample first. It could blow your mind. I want to love this badly, but it’s not for me.
