Pink Mochi (Maison de Parfum Exclusive)

As with most of J-Scent's line, this is a soft scent. It's a sweet and powdery floral vanilla with a light fruitiness and starchy tone. It evokes a powder-dusted strawberry and sakura mochi very well, I can almost feel the starch coating on my fingers.

I have finally, finally, snagged a decant of Pink Mochi and I will say that this is photorealistic. It kicks off with a fruity and punchy cherry blossom and then starts to mellow with this powdery mochi quality. It is powdery in an almost makeup way which does make me wonder if this would come across as older to most audiences (I think it would) but I do believe those who enjoy clean and powdery feminine fragrances would love this. Don’t get me wrong, I am pleased to have gotten a sample of this, but I do not think I would go on the Maison de Parfum’s Italian site and take the plunge for a full bottle. Edit: This is actually quite lovely layered with Kayali's YBM: makes it not too powdery and gives more complex facets to the sweetened strawberry marshmallow DNA of YBM.

This is so incredibly sweet, it's almost too much. It smells like a sugary vanilla lipgloss I used to own. Warm powdered sugar. I get only the barest hint of an almond leaning cherry blossom. It's not floral, but rather nutty. If you told me this had a coconut note, I would believe you. I might be getting a little milk but more like a powdered milk than a true lactonic note. Also reminds me of Lush American Cream or Vanillary. In fact, this is very much a hand cream scent. Traditional mochi are supposed to have a restrained sweetness. Flavors of nature, subtle and delicate. This is like a modern grocery store packaged mochi. Artificial and high sugar content. It's not bad, but it is probably best for sweet gourmand fans.
