Lamar Noir

Lamar Noir is possibly the most expected perfume of the year for me... As an unconditional Lamar lover, my expectations were high, but Kajal ‘savour faire’ made me feel confident that at least, I was going to like it. But I was wrong... I actually loved it at first sniff (unusual on me). I worn it yesterday and I’m not exaggerating when I say I couldn’t stop smelling myself. The opening is fruity, which reminds me of the original. But it’s a different kind of fruitiness and the sweetness is also distinctive, with a creamy caramel gently blending all the fruits, violet and a dark rose, which I get since the beginning and makes the scent sensual and mysterious. And then oud, leather and woods, intertwined with a balsamic undertone, come up giving a dry and masculine touch to it, making LN a totally unisex perfume. After a few hours, the oud begins to become a bit drier, but inconceivably, the juicy fruits and succulent flowers are still there, they don't fade, all the notes accompany the whole symphony until the end, a play of feminine masculine, light darkness, juiciness dryness, without losing the harmony. That is what is called a perfect blend. Longevity and projection are nuclear. The brand is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, and what could be better than this sophisticated and luxurious fragrance for such an important event. I can see LN as their new best seller, a well deserved success! And congratulations also to Patrick Müller on his debut. Couldn’t be better. A Masterpiece in my opinion. A new star was born⭐️ It's unavoidable the comparison with the original, right? You'd like to know if you'll get the extraordinary Lamar DNA. It has the Lamar DNA? Definitely (and fortunately because damn! I love that one!). It is just a darker Lamar? No, absolutely not. LN has its own, complex character and the dark (now much more prominent) rose and deep oud differentiates it from a more flirty, bright, uncomplicated original Lamar. I'd also say that the original is more enjoyable in warmer days while LN shines in cooler weather, wrapping us in a sensual velvety scarf, that lasts for ever... Already madly in love with Lamar Noir♥️

‘Nature shines, even when surrounded by darkness.’ Lamar Noir, a highly expected fragrance, is a magnificent fusion of two elements: darkness and light, expressed in olfactory key. The fruity opening, with light tropical nuances, combines perfectly with more incisive, leathery, woody notes with slightly animalic traits, creating something extremely attractive, magnetic and balanced. The opening is slightly recalling Lamar, but it soon transforms into a decisive perfume with great personality. Did I like it? Absolutely yes, it fully reflects my genre and if I can make a prediction it will be very successful. Absolutely unisex, but I would say that on a woman it highlights her personality and sensuality even more. A painting that for me embodies what this perfume wants to communicate to us is Caravaggio's ‘La Madonna dei Pellegrini’, read its story, read about the woman portrayed, Lena, who, despite the fact that she could represent and live in darkness in a society that hardly accepted her, became the light-bearer, in an eternal painting that illuminates the heart of anyone who sees it.

I absolutely loved the original Lamar and I love Erba Leather (a fragrance in the smells similar to section), so I got a sample of this, expecting to like it. When I first smelled it, I absolutely hated it. My description at the time was walking into a car garage where they are working with tires, and a guy is in the corner eating fruits while smoking a cigarette. Slightly fruity tire was all I smelled. By the way, this stuff is unbelievably potent. But I thought it was disgusting, and could barely stand smelling it. I felt this way for another month until I recently started to give it a chance. It was a struggle at first, but when I continued to smell it, it became strangely addictive and I wanted to smell it even though I still didn’t think it smelled “good.” To my nose now it smells like someone burning fruits, which I weirdly enjoy. I get a caramelized, smoky and slight rubbery smell with burning fruits and leather. It’s definitely a challenging one that not everyone will be fond of, but I encourage anyone with a similar first impression, to give it a chance.

I think people jumped on this fragrance way too fast to review it. I let mine site for two weeks before judging it, and it is STUNNING! I get a tropical fruit with green apple opening. A few minutes later I get a soft caramel swirled in. The mid gets a slightly smoky woodsy, incensey, balsamic aspect. It is delicate and airy, rather than overbearing. The drydown has a soft, but intense leather. I get more leather than oud. This is NOTHING like the industrial Ombre Leather, that I don't really like. The liquid caramel in here is so prominent and here to stay! This is unisex.

The reviewer below is clearly new to fragrances so hasn't developed the nose to appreciate anything even slightly complicated just yet. In saying that, this is not a difficult fragrance to ‘get’ if you have already tried Ombré Nomade or Oud Maracuja. The similarities are there obviously, but it is still a decent fragrance. The sweetness of the original Lamar is there in the background which has made it its own fragrance. It has crazy longevity and overall, I prefer this take over OM and ON.

9.5/10 for me. This isn’t a scent profile that many novice fragrance collectors or casual fragrance wearers can appreciate or even understand. My nose 2 years ago wouldn’t have been able to appreciate this at all. But, I’ve gotten my nose on so many different fragrances that I’ve been able to learn the profile types I like...and this is one of them!! The original Lamar components sit so beautifully underneath the leather and oud...masterful how they did that.

This looks very nice, i bought a tester The caramel in this cologne smells so sweet and its violet in the cologne makes it smell like its a fresh sweet leathery cologne. Smells so good, i love it Definetly should buy this for summer/spring, it last a very long time.

Lamar Noir Kajal: this has a leathery & oud scent with a slightly fruity dry down. I tried a sample and purchased a full bottle. A great , more wearable version if Oud Maracuja or LV’s Ombre Nomade. It starts off leathery and then it gets sweet.

This reminds me of a tropical version of Oud Maracuja. It has a sweet aroma up close but the sillage is oud/leather. Very pleasant but I'll choose Oud Maracuja more over this one.

Intense! Bright tropical fruit that quickly gives way and leaves you with a rosy deep dark oud leather that lasts for days. Not for the faint of heart.

I thought I knew the definition of HEAVY in perfumery before I tried Lamar Noir. I was wrong. Lamar Noir IS the very definition of HEAVY through its simple presence. Negative and dark energy at its finest, deep notes that strike you from the opening and carry you through the entire day (or rather night?) and a lasting power that makes other extraits I own blush and hide in a corner. Fruity? Not so much, maybe just a touch of apple, to which you add a spoon of caramel sauce. Floral? Definitely not on my skin. Woody and oriental? YES, for sure! I have many oriental fragrances in my collection, but this is the one that makes me imagine the draught, the heaviness and the heat of the desert the most. It's not a 10/10 for me, mainly due to its lack of versatility and adaptability (not an office-friendly scent for sure!), but I'd rate it 9.5/10, encompassing all main coordinates that characterize a fragrance to me: quality of the manufacturing, perfumery craft, projection, longevity. It's a must-try for those who like powerful, oriental scents.

Just received these fragrances. Oh boy, I was very sceptical after lots of reviews about blind buy. But I did nit regret! The blend is masterful, with lots of details playing around. Yes, this is a very-very strong extrait, just a little bit of (under) spray is totally enough. But the scent is gorgeous! Not too sweet, not too dark, not too floral. A bit of everything as required! Sophisticated, memorising! With extreme sillage, longevity and strong projection (thats why not to overspray!). If not oversprayed, even in heat will not be cloying. Again: ONE SORAY OVERALL IS ENOUGH 😳 or you will be called a mass killer 🤪 Reminds of Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja, just a bit stronger. Highly recommended, but definetely not as a beginner and better not anblind buy

If you're a fraghead, get in on this and give your opinion. This is mad scientist level of work. Yes the chaotic blend of leather and koolaid level fruit punch should be disgusting. Yet it somehow WORKS. And yes, this stays on your clothes forever until you wash it in the washing machine. Do not wear this scent into your bed.

This actually shocked me, I wasn’t a fan of the og but this brought me back, only to be worn in cold weather otherwise it’ll choke you but this is actually so beautiful, perfect if you don’t like overly sweet fragrances but still wanted to push ya limits.

OMG this stuff is nuclear! I sprayed 2 times on my neck and completely filled up the bar I walked into. I would say if you want to have ombré leather to the third power with more fruit this is for you. I have a ml and it will last me a year.

Will update if I find anything new after a few more days with my decant, but there's one very strong, very immediate top note that I can't escape: Copenhagen tobacco. I'm not sure where it's coming from as tobacco isn't listed at all in this fragrance; something about the dark, burnt nature of the oudy leather makes the opening blast near-indistinguishable if you were to blind smell this side by side with a freshly cracked tin of Copenhagen. There is a flowery fruitiness underneath and behind it all, but I find myself having to dig through a deep whiff to catch any of it: on the skin the base notes dominate, while the floweriness is a faint glimpse you catch from a distance. Even still, the violet note gets muddled amongst the musk and wood, tinging it with a dirtiness, like the violets have been torn straight from the earth and brutishly tossed in, soil-wrapped roots and all. Strangely, the softer elements of the 'top' notes become more appreciable after it calms on the skin for a time. They feel more like heart notes that have to fight through the raw strength of the base of this. It's interestingly complex and grows almost lovely in the drydown, but something on the tail end of the fruit-flower-leather interaction is almost reminiscent of gasoline to me. Coreterno's Hardkor, if the sweetness of the fruits were turned down and the oud was punched up.

I did it to myself... I read the reviews here... I knew it was a massive departure from the original Kajal Lamar. But I've been searching for a leather and jammy rose scent. I wanted the soft leather with a sweet fruity rose to complement it. So I blind bought it and hoped for the best. Regrettably this fell short. The opening is interesting and seductive. [On my skin] The dry down is primarily rubbery leather and a tinge of rose on the edges. At least I got the fragrance at a decent price point. The presentation is very nice. Sigh...

I see what they tried to do with this being Kajals older and darker brother but it just doesn’t hit for me. The OUD is HEAVY! Not that I don’t like it, but the heavier darker notes take away the whole (again what I think) idea of this which is being a dark fruity fragrance. It smells good don’t get me wrong, but I’d prefer Kajal as it’s executed better.

This is so loud. This a strong leather that smells burnt. All the top notes smell mashed together into a fruit mess.This got too much going on. But this definitely performs. I think the balsamic notes mixed with the caramel makes this over the top. This has a bad scent memory that I can't put my finger on.

I’m a fan of oud and leather fragrances, but this is very base heavy. It could use a little more white florals or musks to round it out. Took > hour to settle down. Hard pass.

This is one of those times when if you test it on a test strip, throw it away because if you make the mistake I did of putting the test strip in your pocket or bag the smell follows you around everywhere. Then it filled up the tram, the train and my bedroom when I got home just from 1 small test strip. Yes strong is an understatement for this fragrance, but I don't like the oud and leather combinations ever really, if you're into that sorta thing this fragrance is probably for you but I get that quentin bisch ganymede smell almost immediately from this and i'm not a fan. I was expecting the original lamar DNA with some leather or oud in there, what I got was completely new DNA which shouldn't have been released under the same name or as a flanker to lamar since it's misleading.

A harsh take on "Oud" and leather I’ve been putting off writing this review because, honestly, I don’t like this scent at all. This is one of the worst releases of the past year. I don’t have the original Lamar on hand to compare them side by side, so I’ll focus solely on this scent. Lamar Noir opens with an extremely synthetic and conventional oud accord that doesn’t smell like oud at all, not even western Oud. The other dominant note is leather, which comes across as dry and sterile, lacking the depth and multidimensionality leather usually offers. It doesn’t seem to be built with the raw materials that typically enhance and recreate the natural aroma of leather - such as birch tar, labdanum, styrax, cade oil, castoreum, or cypriol. Guaiac wood is present, but it only contributes to the same dry, slightly smoky quality mentioned above, and I don’t find this interpretation of leather pleasant at all. Lamar is a fruity scent, and judging by the name "Lamar Noir" , one would expect a darker or “black” version of that profile. However, it's "black" but all fruitiness is missing from the start. I can’t detect any tropical notes or Apple, nor do I perceive any floral elements. The scent could have been slightly redeemed with caramel or Vanilla, but these notes either haven’t been used or were intentionally avoided, as there is virtually no sweetness present. I’m also puzzled by claims of animalic facets: if anything, that impression may come from the unpleasant synthetic oud, which is far from how oud can be crafted properly—or perhaps it’s simply the overall sense of harshness. Lamar Noir is a purely woody scent and nothing more: a synthetic, extremely linear woody leather composition. I’m very surprised by the high rating it has received. I’d also like to clarify that I enjoy very masculine fragrances, as well as compositions where leather and/or oud dominate, so my opinion isn’t based on those elements alone. I also wouldn’t want to smell this on my husband’s skin, where the entire aroma I’ve described becomes even more pronounced than on my own. In conclusion, Lamar Noir feels like a missed opportunity and a disappointing reinterpretation of the original concept. Rather than offering a darker, richer, or more complex take on Lamar, it delivers a flat, synthetic, and uninspired woody-leather composition that lacks character and balance. For those expecting depth, nuance, or a refined oud-leather experience, this fragrance is unlikely to satisfy. I don't even know how people have the courage to defend this fragrance. It smells like dirty pile of earth and oud. If you think this is a sweet fragrance you are wrong. This is utterly disgusting smells you worked in the fields and didn't wash your hands. Smells awfull really awfull ! The caramel ? I don't even know how people smell caramel in here. Stay away even the money for the decant is not worth it. One word dirty and disgusting. STAY AWAY !

I’m not sure what they were thinking with this flanker. I can’t find the Lamar dna at all. It lacks the depth and brightness found in the original. The leathery notes are star and center. It’s oud forward with some fruity undertones. To my nose it devolves into an inky dark sent. Very unpleasant.

It’s a secret. It opened dry fruity and then it darkens slowly. I love they didn’t lean on creating a woodier version of Lamar. Typical Kajal to not go the way that’s expected. When we received this in store in a special tester gift I didn’t think it was the right fragrance. It forced me to give it a minute to dry down (like Ganymede) to understand that it was Lamar Noir. We expect these ‘Noir’ frags to be just darker versions of the original. There’s a small nod to Lamar and a big hug for Noir. An oud, leather, rose, violet, balsamic embrace with a caramel kiss. It has a nice, dry Oud like I can find in Crivelli frags. I’m waiting to hear more reviews to see if there’s disappointment that it isn’t closer to the original Lamar. But that would be a cheap move to make a darker Lamar. I’m impressed with Kajal. I could layer Lamar with Crivelli Oud Stallion or Xerjoff Tony Iomi and get a darker Lamar. Kajal gave me a completely new Lamar.

1st , I am a fan of Kajal, In fact Lamar is a favored fragrances in my collection ,,,, However - just tried the Lamar Noir - first the positive - it’s got insane performance - like glue on my arm , it’s still clinging on through multiple soap scrubs, which is unfortunate bc it’s is a charred, Rancid bastardization of my beloved Lamar. So disappointed bc I was sure it would be a new love considering how often I wear the OG . It’s like my bottle of Lamar was left in my car all through the southern summer until it became vinegaresque and then someone put out their cigarettes in it - Just , No . Not for me. There is a .. I believe Ex Nihilo ,that has this same basic scent (not that it’s in any way basic ) I will continue to explore this line though

I enjoy it. Pretty wide step away from the OG Lamar, which is ok for me. Surprised to see that Saffron wasn't listed. Feel like I get a good blast of that but I suppose it's just the mixture of notes. It is a smooth, slightly creamy leather with some very light freshness in the base with some spicy notes, IE the saffron esque note that I get. I do quite enjoy it and it performs very well. Pretty strong scent with a heavy presence. Definitely colder, night oriented fragrance.

Tested on paper, and then on skin. My experience is similar to OHLAWDTOMYFAWD's. Was surprised saffron wasn't listed since, after the brief, magnificent fruity opening, smelling close, I get strong saffron vibes, very similar to Kajal's Warek. Wafting through the air, the scent feels leathery. I find myself craving it.

Revisiting my sample. I really liked it a few months ago, and I still really like it now. Dark but uplifting, very addictive. May be full bottle worthy.

This one is a wowawiwa. Think oud maracuja / cuir infrarouge but with pineapple and a smooth caramel / chocolate backbone. Performance beastly
