Karl Lagerfeld for Him

So Iam back to this fragrance and there will be people who disagree but I have my angle and my opinion on this release: Is it generic? Maybe. Is it lacking creativity? Depends what you want from scent. Can it be compared with any former release of Lagerfeld? No and theres no need to do it. Lagerfeld adjusted HIM to today, thats all. The 70s, 80s and 90s are gone. Long gone. This is a true scent of today with all its facets. Its quick, easily likeable, well presented, showing the qualities that matter in todays society. Karl said: "its an offence not to smell nice today". Thats what this fragrance represents. Will it become a classic? Not sure but in 10 years time it will be a respresentative object of todays market. I like to wear it. I like mandarin, lavender. I dont expect this to become the Goethe or Shakespeare of today fragrance market, I just enjoy its aroma here, today. Full stop. Finally, lots of critics of Karl not caring about this release; do you honestly think that a head designer (Chanel, Fendi and Lagerfeld) spends more than 20 minutes of his personal time with a release like this? Check out BBCs documentary which shows the 2010 release of Hilfigers "Loud", thats a good expample of how the designer fragrance market works today. Old traditional french or italian fragrance families or also niche houses work differently for sure. But dont expect something from Karl which isnt realistic.

Based on the unflattering reviews, I expected very little from this, but I have and enjoy many of KLs fragrances so I had to try it. Very pleasantly surprised. Every note listed is apparent (though the sandalwood is muted), and once the initial alcohol blast has subsided (5 minutes), this sparkles and radiates with aromatics. The apple and violet contribute a slightly blue, smooth, crowd-pleasing accord, the mandarin (and limonene, citral and citronellol) provide a muted citrus zestiness, and the lavender is clean. The amber smoothes and slightly sweetens the whole. You have smelled things like this before, but I would wear this over your daily-wear Chomes, Fierces, Legends and Voyages. Versatile for all ages, genders and occasions, with the violet leaf/amber emphasis increasing the maturity and classiness. Skins and noses differ, but I get a solid 5-6 hours from this, and it projects for the first 90 minutes at arm's length, with 8 sprays to the chest/shirt. The violet and amber are the enduring drydown notes, bringing to mind Burberry Touch. If you aren't getting this performance, make sure to spray this on clothing. You will be well rewarded.

Those who are criticizing Karl for not making another fragrance like „Classic”, „Photo” or „Jako” do miss a very important factor in Karls personality. He never looked backwards. He would never have done „same” or similar”. He wasnt interested in what he has done before, he always did think in present and future. Looking at this fragrance from that perspective, „For Him” is a 100% modern day fragrance. I disagree also with the ones complaining in regards to the quality of this release. I think the packaging and bottle are superb and the scent does last on me for about 5-6 hours, which is an absolute normal Edt performance. Its a lingering, „second skin” type of fragrance which easily falls victim to olfactive fatique. Maybe this is why some folks do not smell it after a relatively short time. The smell itself is extremely urban and therefore totally artificial. Both aspects I do like a lot. Very energetic, sexy and versatile. Can be worn in any setting, anywhere. Upbeat, young and fizzy. Positive, yet dark and addicting. Sharp, invigorating and 100% KARL.

...so I made a second attempt at Karl's new release. The smell is nice. Karls says that not smelling nice these days is rude, so with "For Him" he covers that issue. But thats all Iam afraid. Just a scent to smell nice. This isnt about the craft of perfumery or the art to create something memorable which endures for ages (like many of his previous releases). It smells nice just like almost any other scent on the market these days. Probably a bit better. But they almost all smell nice. Of course there are different tastes but nowadays they make sure, that a new fragrance is safe enough to please as many people as possible. Same here. I was simply hoping for a more creative scent from König Karl. Unfortunately sillage and longevity could have saved this scent but both are just to weak...

It's not as bad as the reviews here make it seem. It's rather pleasant for what it is... a synthetic urban fragrance for men of any age. Although it leans more youthful, I can see many hip gents pulling this off. You'll need to love powdery scents to enjoy this one. I'm not a huge fan of powdery fragrance, but the woods and spice in KLFH make the powder actually enjoyable. Not the best longevity. Yet, it does linger on the skin and I get whiffs for several hours. Perfect for a casual day in the Spring when you're not sure what fragrance to wear. All in all, don't let the negativity sway you to avoid this one. You just may be surprised. Like I was.

This perfume has become a must-have for me because it's my signature scent. I've repurchased 3 times. It smells like heaven - lavender, violet, sandalwood. Two of my bottles' juice wasn't long lasting, but the one I bought before Christmas, at DM Drogerie Markt, is longer lasting and it has good sillage. Keep in mind there's different pricing for it. You can find 100 ml bottles at DM for 25 euro. Definitely a steal. A great scent for a main character

I absolutely love this! As a fragrance reviewer for 10 years I have a vast collection of 300+ fragrances yet I keep coming back to this one regularly. I first wore a Lagerfeld fragrance back in 1991 (Photo) and I am a huge fan since. I like this for its simplicity and addictive freshness. Mandarin, Lavender, Apple & Violet are the main notes to me. Very energetic and uplifting blend. Modern fougere.

I can honestly say that this is one my absolute favorites when it comes to masculine fragrances. It is so bloody sexy but at the same time sophisticated. Perfect for every day-wear but also evenings and more formal occasions! EDIT: Gifted this to my boyfriend, who's never tried this fragrance before, and he has EMPTIED the bottle! OMG. He loves it as much as I do. I'm thrilled!

I have to disagree with a lot of the reviews here. This fragrance hit me like a hammer at first sniff-I mean,extremely expensive and piercing smell,unique,not cheap AT ALL. With this fragrance you can FLEX on other people xD Breathtaking,like Karl Lagerfeld himself! <3 EDIT: This is VERSACE EROS on steroids or ADG PROFUMO minus the steroids :D

I have to agree with SteelerOpera. Its a mishmash of mainstream scents which plays a disappearing act rather quickly on your skin and not so quickly on paper. I adore König Karl and his work but this is just not up to the very strong personality and image he is radiating. I will try to test again maybe my senses fail me...

....and now the surprise: Iam digging this fragrance! For some reason its pleasing me to an extent, that Iam considering to get a bottle. There must be some addictive vibe going on, because despite my previous two reviews Iam starting to like this!

It’s a crime that this is rated as low as it is. It’s an excellent fragrance.

Okay So after seeing all the bad reviews online, I decided I had to try it for myself. I am never one to only follow the masses, sometimes I will, But I will also make my own decisions. Why shy away from controversy? After application my initial thoughts are, "Wow, I understand why people feel this is so overly trendy and generic." It's a powerful synthetic punch. A lot like A&F, or Bannana Replublic, or any other Retail store scent. But stronger! It is NOT light, it is strong and trendy. It is exactly like every teenage boys bodyspray but with more power. It is not different from Axe bodyspray. It smells like puberty and a sense of entitlement. Okay, but here's the thing, It smells okay. There I said it. Yeah, Actually, It smells good. It's a better quality, longer lasting, farther silage then Axe. Those others fade away, this one stays around. I get the synthetic mandarin, lavender, apple, and violet. It seems like the Amber synthetic is over powering the sandalwood. I like it, I don't LOVE it. But I would wear it. It smells like YOUTH. Not like us old trolls online looking for the next Habit Rouge on perfume blogs. TRENDY- This is the scent of a 19 year old body, lean tight muscle mass, sexy clothing, smooth muscles. Verility clad in fake leather, pleather !. Drunken trashy nights, coming home from the bar smelling like cigarettes with friends. I can understand the subtle similarities in the dry down to Bleu. A strong, trendy, & synthetic scent that smells common. This is not the next great fragrance. But it is what it is. A scent that smells alright. In a way, it's almost an exaggerated, sarcastic commentary on today's youth targeted perfumes. I love that.

*UPDATED: This fragrance has the dubious honor of being Karl Lagerfeld's worst release, but it’s still not a bad fragrance. It may not be memorable, but it isn’t exactly generic either because it’s quite different from what is being done now: I can distinguish it among thousands fragrances in the same place... So it's not that generic, huh..? KL for him is fresh but dark, and modern but retro... All at the same time. This juice opens with a nice fresh orange & lavander combo, supported by apple and violet notes in a nice and uplifting pseudo-synthetic accord that slowly evolves into a woody and definitely musky dry-down, with some kind of sandalwood and amber as base notes. - Longevity ranges from 6 to 8h+ on skin. *For those who have doubts: Spray your clothes with this fragrance and put them in the closet. Smell it after two days: it's still there, right..? This fragrance in particular has a moderate-to-intimate projection but lasts a long time, especially in clothing. - It has excellent versatility: All year round & all ocassions. KL for Him feels great in a dark suit... And I like it for office & business; this juice radiates confidence, seriousness and determination. Curiously, it's a fragrance that generates spontaneous compliments frequently (more than some famous ones that should give better results...). Age: All, but >25 better. Best of all: Right now, for the price at discounters it's a bargain. The Bad: Discontinuation winds are blowing...

Crazy that this fragrance only got a 2.5 average rating and so many negative reviews I recently purchased it off of fragrancenet for $25.49 the set actually these reviewers got it wrong this is actually a nice fragrance it actually smells like a combination of kc black bleu de chanel and boss bottled night I'm smelling my under shirt right now and it actually smells somewhat like bleu de chanel my girl even noticed that this morning she was laying on my shoulder before getting up her exact words Mmmm! that smells good what is it is it bleu reason why I bring it up because the dry down did seem familiar but I couldn't figure out what it smelled similar too but she figured it out for me I get what some reviewers posted about it having a strong synthetic smell in the beginning but that could be a good or bad thing for some guys meaning it's strong but it lasts on me it's been almost a full day since I applied it and it's still on my under shirt and noticeably still here so good performance so far it starts off musky & kind of fruity but masculine this is my second review 8/10 and a like it's a year round fragrance for the people that's reading this and wondering if they should blind buy I say "[bleep]" the haters/dislikers and go for it and it's actually affordable now like $18 to $20 for a 3.4oz bottle

This opens as a fresh violet based daytime fragrance. The marketing states that it's supposed to open with lavender and mandarin. I don't get any mandarin and just a hint of lavender. The violent is the strongest and most persistent for the first 30 minutes. To my mind it's neither interesting enough for evening wear nor alluring enough for a date. Along with the violet there is a synthetic/metallic note that actually works really well. It harmonizes with the violet to give the opening a masculine character. It may be what they are referring to as mandarin. It's nothing like mandarin though, unless mandarin recently started smelling of stainless steel. 20-30 minutes in, the Sandalwood chips its way through the violet. It's ok but I crave the return of the opening. It feels too short because it's the most charming part of this fragrance. The drydown seems bland and a bit disappointing. There's nothing to hate here but it certainly leaves me wanting more. The performance is also unimpressive. Although I sit between like and love on the first 20-30 minutes, the rest is very meh.

So funny! I've been wearing fragrances that members say they dislike lately. As an experiment and just to form my own opinion. So I sprayed this one on this morning and got complimented twice from total strangers. Once at the gym, and the second walking through the local c-train station. So funny how other people smelling it on me seem to like it. Trust me, not everyone compliments you. I was in hot yoga class once and some trollup told me she was allergic my scent. (It was a $900 pure distance so yea lady, okay) I just told her she was smelling my pits. And reassured her that if it wasnt for the fragrance, she would be smelling something far worse courtesy of being a hairy man. Namaste Debbie Downer NEXT!!! I'm off to the movies to see Assassin's creed. Wish me luck. This time I'll be wearing YSL LA Nuit Intense. A lot of people seem to hate that one too. I don't think it's that bad but it's been a while. So we shall see

Received some free samples of this and I like it. Its nothing to write home about and it isn't a stunner. Its a nice clean scent. It will just give yo a little extra when you want to put out that fresh scrubbed vibe. The opening is similar to the aquatic blue scents but it fades into a sweeter soft vanilla. I think that makes it a little bit different from most aquatics. On the negative, I wouldn't be surprised to see this in the discount stores in a few years. If you collect scents, you probably have something that fills this role in your collection. If you don't have an every day safe for work scent then you might want to give it a try.

I think the bad reviews comes from the expectations that Karl Lagerfeld should do something exceptionally beautiful. I was curious to try it after seeing the bad reviews, i can't deny that the first couple of times i hated, then i started getting over the green apple note, and found lavendar and sandalwood, by time i started noticing that it gets sweeter after the first few minutes. On paper the longevity seems average, but on my skin and cloth, it just dissapears after an hour, as if i had nothing on! It's really weird, and it's not nose fatigue or anything, i could tell.

I'd given up on this but tried it today and got the amber and the fruity vibe and am starting to appreciate it. The violet note is strong and because I didn't pay too much attention to it beyond that, picking up on the fruit and the amber made me appreciate it more. There is more amber here than the votes above suggest. The performance is also better than the votes indicate because it's moderate, not weak. Don't overlook this one because it can seem weird because of the violet, but there is more to it than that and it's not a bad fragrance despite its low rating.

I like this one. Opening is a violet/apple. Then some mandarin too. Dry down is more woody but the violet remains a lot.. It has good performance and a good price point. The bottle and box are well made. This Lagerfeld is a great juice for Summer and Spring. It's floral, fresh, sweet and woody. I do like the way the dry down stays floral and fresh. If you like Parma Violets, this is for you. It's a definite like from me.

This is my first perfume by Karl Lagerfeld I am very happy that I have it in my collection, In my opinion, it's a nice fragrance, Fresh, Fruity, Floral and Modern. It opens up with like fresh citrusy fruity and floral notes in the background then dry down is woody. It is perfect for the spring, summer and fall. I really enjoy it and I like Karl Lagerfeld Pour Homme EDT. Longevity is average. Thumbs Up. Rating : 8 / 10

Starts a bit aromatic sharpish... then smooths and slightly powders out - not baby powder tho. I love Beckhams beyond.. the one in dark bottle with lavender note.. this isn't the same as that exactly.. Not miles away but Lagerfeld is it's own scent. I'm female and it could go in my cabinet to be shared with the guys and gals easy. Subtle, sexy ish, understated, clean

A soft, elegant, everyday smell for warmer months. Feels flowery and light, but in a unisex fashion. Violet and lavender compose well with wooden notes, creating a soft, pleasant aura around. Longevity is poor, and after 2 hours it can be only felt close to skin after that time, but at the distance, some notes still manage to free up. Overall, could recommend. 8/10

To me this one smells very similar to YSL Y but on a budget. Speaking of budget, that's where this one shines. I got 100ml for 20€ and for what you get it's a good price in my opinion. Projection is ok but the longevity is a joke. On my skin it only lasts for 2-3 hours. If you want a cheap, fresh/shower gel scent, buy this one. Preferably on a discount.

I like this one. Hard to dislike, for me anyway. It's an easy to wear,fresh, fruity scent that I throw on after the gym. Gone through a 30 ml in a couple of months and girls seem to enjoy it. Don't think it's a repurchase though as there's many out there like it and I'd rather go and try something different. But for what it is I enjoyed it. 4/5 from me.

Mainstream, mainstream and Super mainstream. No time and was put into this frag. I can imagine they spent max 1/2hour to compose this scent. PASS at all cost! Please, starters outhere; spend some time research and you can dig out several Mainstream Kings with the same budget such as Fierce, Polo Blue, Boss #6, etc.

This is a match to A&F Fierce Intense. It's not matching one on one with the notes but the overall feel you get is undoubtedly Fierce Intense. There is an airy ozonic quality probably brought about by violet leave which give similar watery feel to A&F Fierce Intense. The dry down is musky.

i know that this parfume will be in the shops from march,but my vote "LIKE" is REAL just because i had the chance to test it before 10 days.because i work in a shop and i must try everything that i'll offer to my clients in the near future.and this is really really nice!!!

Smells very similar to play boy manhattan. Actually manhattan is much better and cheaper. Anyways, both smell super synthetic and sweet which is not bad but is nothing new or a standout. Get an old school lagerfield if you want something with more personality than this!

Been lurking in the back of the cupboard for a few month until today. Pulled it out and gave it a few shots and by Jove it smells so similar to Zegna Uomo! Gonna give it a full wearing tomorrow but for 1/3 of the price compared to Uomo it cracks the nod regardless.

Smelled this one today and I like it its not the greatest scent ever but its nice relaxing smooth clean scent definitely a spring summer or office scent it'll be a good casual scent jeans tee or polo its not a scent you'd confuse for a woman fragrance its not sweet

It smells ok, good for summer-spring. I would give it 8/10 if it was for my personal opinion. Also it smells floral, it may seem weird scent at the first usage but you will get used and you will like it afterwards.

My first ever fragrance from 2016, its nothing special but very inoffensive and pleasant. Moderate performance across the board imo a very good school scent considering the price

Very pleasant I like it a lot and very manly scent but quite weak. Not a new smell for me though but if it had better performance, I would buy it instantly.

I find it similar to Bleu de Chanel, and i must say i prefer this. This one has a more fruity/fresh dry down whereas BdC is a bit warmer.

A great fragrance that I just wish had a better performance...

if the colour purple was a fragrance

I've bought Karl Lagerfeld Pour Homme for €25/100 ml in De Bijenkorf (Netherlands) and have some things to say. It's floral, mostly violet, scent. Nothing else. Nothing. If you have deodorants "fraîche", the smell will be almost the same. Sillage - very weak, almost invisible. Longvity of scent - maximum 4 hours. I can't say it's unpleasant, especially for such price. Moreover, as someone recently said, "floral fragrance is a bouquet that you give to yourself". From this point of view, yes, Karl Lagerfeld Pour Homme is perfect: cheap, simple and practical. Don't want to sound sexist, but I don't see any masculinity in it at all. So if you're heterosexual man, try your best NOT to buy this.

I like the drydown of this one. Having said that, the opening is sharp for my skin and has something that for 5-10 minutes feels like sharp needles to my nose, if I inhale it. It doesn't project a lot, but it is noticeable. What others will notice is a clean shower-gel, powdery scent. This is a good blind buy for an office scent. It is not the most unique scent, but you won't care. It smells clean and inoffensive.

Chanel could put this in a bottle and charge $250 for it, people wouldn't doubt them or complain. It's a very fresh blue scent. To me it smells like a mix of Bleu de Chanel and YSL L'homme Cologne Bleue, for a more mature consumer (35+). Price tag is amazing - very cheap. $16 for a 100ml (not tester, original box) where I'm from. I see this being my dumb reach in many scenarios.

You need to like Violets to enjoy this fragrance, which I don't. The Violet note is dominant throughout the drydown, as is the Sandlewood. This reminds me of Wind Wood by Mancera, which also has a strong Violet note. That being said, this is a very fresh and bright smelling fragrance.

The opening is very sharp, like a kitchen spice, then fortunately it changes into a more metallic scent.

Smells very green and marine. Close to Nautica Voyage. Great for the gym.

Smells like the colour fuchsia I can see why it's unliked, but I like it. It has a resemblance to, Joop Go or Jump.. can't recall which one It's hard to describe, it has a fuzzy buzz to it that tickles my nose and has this energetic vibrancy that makes me feel like I'm at a rave? It comes alive more so in cooler weather and more suited for night wear, I believe. I reckon it can be a party/clubber or a fun night out fragrance cause it has the ability to be abrupt in an either good/alluring or bad/repulsive way It's definitely a teenager and early 20's type of fragrance.. even though I'm 32 hahaha It's my dumb reach for cooler casual wear

A generic, flowery, powdery scent, not unpleasant, but it’s not exactly going to wow anybody. It smells very similar to many of the other generic masculine scents available in large UK department stores. It’s not terrible; it’s just kind of blah. It has a tang to it, but in terms of originality it’s completely lacking. Silage is average and longevity was very poor. After two hours I could barely smell it on my skin at all. You can get a 100ml bottle for around £30 on ebay, but even for that very reasonable price this is still one to miss.

Sadly I have tried this. It smells like a combination of many popular, safe designer fragrances released recently but with less projection and longevity. If this is what Lagerfeld made us wait for these last few years I am not impressed. And yes, I know it hasn't been released yet in the states, but the testers are out there and so is the product, it's just waiting for the OK to be put on the shelves.

Saw an opened box of this trash in a local pharmacy, so yay, a tester, lol...ugh, smells like cheap body spray. end of story. Maybe Karl wouldn't be so miserable if people enjoyed this crud. Good luck with that one!

Garbage. Utterly common and forgettable. Will blend well with adolescent hormones, which is just as well since teens are most likely its intended market.
