Velvet Night 76

This was the first Krigler I smelled and just knew — instant buy, no hesitation. Velvet Night 76 is opulent in the best way, the kind of scent that feels luxurious without trying too hard. I'm honestly picky about tuberose — it can go heady or soapy fast — but this is one of the rare tuberose fragrances I genuinely love. It's blended so beautifully that nothing fights for attention; everything just melts together into something rich and seamless. And the name really does say it all — it's velvety good. Smooth, plush, a little dark and sensual without being heavy. If you love tuberose done right, or you're curious about Krigler in general, this is a gorgeous place to start.

Does anyone remember how 90's fashion magazines used to smell- the sweet and nectary concentrated floral perfume inserts mixed in with the woody and papery/fresh magazine smell? That's exactly what Velvet Night reminds me of. It brings me back to memories of flipping through my mom's Vouges. Nostalgia aside, this is a gorgeous classic white floral. Though the notes are familiar, I think you'll find some uniqueness in this. White florals can be pretty dull, but there's a liveliness to Velvet Night that keeps me engaged and wanting a full bottle.

Krigler Velvet Night 76 A famous marketing genius once said, “The opposite of a good idea is often another good idea. While his general premise could refer to something as simple as hot versus iced coffee, what struck me about Velvet Night 76 is that it is the opposite of what the fragrance industry has trained us to think a “night” scent is. “Night” most commonly refers to a dark and ambery(sometimes woody) fragrance. Sometimes they come in the form of an alluring “date night” scent that is designed to put the wearer in a cozy/intimate mood. With Velvet Night 76, Krigler manages to make a night fragrance that is alternatively, bright. As it opens, a mixture of citruses and white florals permeate the air. For a short time, the two elements layer with a slight dissonance. After 2-3 minutes, it starts to settle to a moderate white floral. Never stuffy, it is masterfully blended with citrus. This is a citrus that, with the help of vanilla and amber, comes across as a lightly candied lemon/orange. It also keeps the white florals of the orange blossom, jasmine, and especially tuberose from ever becoming powdery. On the opposite end, the florals keep the citrus from becoming of a “lemon drop” sweetness. Of the Kriglers that possess that ambery cedar I've come to expect as their “DNA”, this is the most toned. Rather than be the base, it accompanies in the mids and eventually allows the white florals to be what linger on skin. I perceive that to be intentional so as to give this an energetic nature. This is an energy that gives a nod to a vibrant night life while also accompanying a classiness that appropriates itself to high society events. As a male, I enjoyed every bit of this wearing and anticipate future wearings, yet, this, on the right lady, would be something truly inspiring.

The review below I feel described the smell well. This is the first one I've tried and bought from Krigler and have since bought another and sampling more as we speak. Velvet Night 76 is a classically beautiful feminine leaning scent to me that is of superb quality. A gorgeous bright white floral that boasts a pretty large projection but still remains not overbearing in doing so and lasts a long time on skin and even better on clothes. It’s somehow seductive but luminous at the same time. It’s a perfume I put into a category called “man magnets” lol. If you’re not into white florals don’t bother but if you are then definitely sample this one, it’s a huge love for me.

Incredibly well blended and well balanced, especially for being a white floral scent. In the wrong hands, white florals, especially tuberose, can screech or sit thick and cloying. Velvet Night simmers and purrs. I confess to actually not liking the scent because it's too floral for my preferences, but I greatly appreciate how perfectly it's crafted. And yes, naming this light white floral "Velvet Night" was an interesting move as it is neither "velvety" in texture nor "night" in vibe. But also yes, it seems to darken a bit over time from its initial bright, light opening to a somewhat moodier presentation. All in all, a superb rendition of white florals.
