Arancia Rossa

Rated "love" because it's gorgeous ... while it lasts. Feared that the passionfruit might make it cloyingly over-fruity, but no - it walks the tightrope with huge aplomb and eclat and all those big words, because it's got tremendous charm and balance and enough good taste not to push its luck too far with the sweetness. Even the passionfruit is just sharp and musky enough to not outstay its welcome, while the initial blood orange accord is just INCREDIBLY good - zesty and zingy and tingly in all the right ways, bright not bitter, with no dustiness or muskiness or sourness to spoil the fun. Sunny and charming and altogether the virtual walk through an Italian orange grove which the brief promises. I've often failed to vibe with Lab Olfattivo because they tend too sweet for my taste, yet here everything is just right. However, cough cough, Mr Ellena, I have a bone to pick (or a peel to grate?) with you, for this one breaks my heart just a little: its summery beauty does not survive on me, on skin or fabric, for over 2 hours, maybe 3 at the very most. And being lucky enough to own a full bottle of it, I have certainly lashed it on all over, trying huge puffy clouds to envelop my whole self and all the clothes... and still it vanishes sooner than I want it to. Which is a bit of a crushing disappointment when it is - in every other way - the complete package. Still, it's marketed as a cologne, so fair enough; and its joys and charms can't be denied. One to use up with extravagant abandon, and hang the expense ... much like an Italian holiday indeed, these days. I think Bigarade Concentree has held its crown as my orange king forever, but for the brief interlude it survives, Arancia Rossa is truly a worthy contender.

This one is a very strong blood orange tropical scent with maracuyá (passion fruit). It definitely transports me to Mexico, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, drinking fresh passion fruit juice or freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice. For some reason, I might be biased, but I can vividly picture the mix of deep red from the blood orange and the bright yellow of a ripe maracuyá. If I were to describe it by color, that’s exactly how it would look. It’s incredibly realistic, like having a tropical juice bottled up. Honestly, I just want to drink it! I love this scent so much, and I really wanted to fall in love with it completely. Unfortunately, it probably doesn’t work well with my skin or body chemistry. As soon as I spray it, I fall in love all over again, but sadly, after 2–3 hours, I can’t smell it anymore. I know citrus fragrances don’t usually last long and don’t have strong sillage, and this one is no exception. When I apply it, it genuinely feels like I just squeezed oranges or I was eating fresh citrus fruit. I’m willing to swap this bottle with someone else. I’ve only given it four tries, and it just didn’t work for me. If you're interested in a swap or would like to buy it, send me a private message. It’s basically new and I kept the original box too. I blind bought this perfume, normally I test them first, but based on the notes, I thought, "What could go wrong?" I’m open to selling it for a little less than the original price too.

(Re-review) I’ve recently been craving this fragrance since it’s starting to get cold out now, oddly getting December vibes in October. Anyway, if theres a citrus i’d like to wear in the winter..its this, perfectly this. I got a sample of this fragrance mainly to see if it smells like passion fruit, and i liked how there are some of my favorite notes in here too..but personally,,i was not expecting a tree farm to hit my nose because that is what I smelt. And I love it! This fragrance is like the smell of the sap that comes from Christmas fir trees (and honestly i lowk did wanted to smell like that at some point) I’ll definitely try and find a way around to getting a good amount of this fragrance this November, i doubt it will be a bottle because of it’s price but who knows if i end up finding a hell of a deal on ebay or something if i’m lucky. This fragrance will be perfect for my citrus scent for this winter ^_^

Monsieur Ellena knows how to work citrus and bring them very natural. The way Arancia Rossa is blended is gorgeous. A scent doesn’t have to be complex with different layers, blah blah. Sometimes, less is more, and here is a perfect example. The blood Orange is refreshing. The passion fruit kicks in a few minutes after the citrus burst. This is not cloying, synthetic, or harsh. Don’t expect to last long...... I don’t care. If I want to extend the longevity, I carry a decant. Stop the obnoxiousness that a fragrance to be good needs to last. This is not a panty dropper, a compliment puller, or all those charades the YouTubers made you to believe. This is class in a bottle. A ride to enjoyment. A trip to escape from the busy and chaotic world, and brings you to a calm, peaceful place. Cheers. Raise your zippy cup, kiddos.

Beautiful. A nose-tickling blast of bitter orange peel and sharp, sour juice that dissolves into lip-smackingly fresh, gently musky passionfruit. As is typical for a JCE fragrance it is quiet and restrained and smells very natural (though thankfully without the BO-like pungency real passionfruit sometimes has!). Longevity is surprisingly good for what it is, especially when sprayed on clothing. It is rather linear and one-dimensional, which is why I mostly use it for layering (I love it for example with Jour d'Hermès, another JCE creation which to my nose benefits greatly from an extra burst of citrus).

I love this. Very much a summer scent. The passionfruit dominates on my skin. Not very long lasting, but not too bad in the context of Ellena's fragrances; and it's priced fairly (£90 for 100ml bottle). Confusingly (to me, anyway) described as a "parfum cologne" - I think it is essentially an eau de cologne, and expectations as to performance should be based on that. In the UK it seems very hard to obtain. Liberty occasionally have it in stock, but it sells out fast and then there is a long wait for it to reappear. My favourite of the Viaggio in Italia series (I think the Mandarino is also good).

This is not a very complex fragrance but that's not a bad thing at all. All I really notice here is orange, passion fruit, and maybe some ripe pineapple (though that might be the interplay of the two previous notes). This is perfectly lovely, slightly sweet without being sickly, faithful to both the oils of a citrus peel and the juicy, sun-warmed flesh. Interestingly, this opens up somewhat green and gets sweeter and more fruity as time goes on. Usually I find citrus perfumes go the other way; this is much nicer! Smells like: A refreshing summer smoothie.

Love it. Arancia Rossa is the most realistic blood orange I’ve ever smelled—juicy, radiant, and kissed with just enough passionfruit to keep it bright and uplifting. Created by Jean-Claude Ellena, it carries his signature lightness: nothing heavy, nothing synthetic. It doesn’t evolve much, but that’s part of its charm. A clean, warm, musky citrus that feels like summer skin. Perfect for hot days when you want something simple, joyful, and effortless. It’s short-lived—more of a skin scent—but I don’t mind reapplying. I carry samples at Nectar Atelier.

Mandarine! Likely my favorite citrus fruit. Not stingy/sharp, gentle and with a touch of warm sweetness. Makes me always come back for more sniffs. There's many solids out there which made it hard to choose between them all, Mandarino (from the same brand), Atelier Colognes, Hermes, Guerlain and the list goes on. However I decided to settle for this one because I felt it was the most balanced in terms of juiciness/sweetness and lastly some greenness to add some realistic elements.

I don't really write reviews for my perfumes because what can one say that hasn't already been said? This one, though. I love it so much. So realistic, so satisfying, so perfectly dialed-in for what it aims to be. Layering this with Afternoon Swim is a slam dunk orange powerhouse. This has rushed to my top 10, it's that good. If you like orange and just a hint of tangy sweet, don't think about it just buy it.

I love this fragrance, I think it’s a beautiful excellent summer fragrance. It’s not overbearing but seems to have quite a bit of longevity. I bought mine while I was on a family trip to Italy. Would love to us it every day during the summer if I could get another in the US, but I don’t know the next time I’m going back to Italy under this current administration so I’m gonna use it sparingly lol

I absolutely adore how realistic the first spray brings. like a juicy, pump blood orange is being squeezed right in front of me. the orange would only linger until noon, and what's left would be a faint passion fruit. I think the transition is very interesting because it turns from something a bit bitter and raw into something sweet and rounded. but I would rather that the orange last longer.

Pure red orange of rare beauty, citrus note of orange par excellence, floral accord of orange blossom corollated by sour and sweet notes of passion fruit. Beautiful fresh blood orange scent. Its opening notes are stunning, it's striking how realistic it is, it's as if you were peeling the fruit. It then dries and develops to a beautiful soft passionfruit skin scent. By hour 4, however, it was undetectable on my skin. I want to eat it.

Masterpiece. I've been wearing this in Madeira and people often confused me with a maracuja. Insanely simple and well crafted. Smells like rubbing skin on skin with a blood orange... the way the blood orange smells after doing so.

Quality over quantity in the composition, this is the archetype of style in summer fragrances. Damn, I'll use it the whole year just to sniff it from time to time during my day. Super natural, delicious, relaxing and happy.

Very nicely done, rather linear, but nice. My skin eats this rt up, so I don't get a lot of longevity. IMHO, it reminds me tremendously of "Summer of "84" by House of Kerosene which is insane and I love more!!

Like God peeling the best blood orange on Earth right into your face — juice and oils spraying everywhere while you’re chewing the perfect orange at she same time. Shame it doesn’t last longer.

It’s a great summertime fragrance, smells like tropical summer in a bottle, you get beautiful blood orange with passionfruit mixed very well together. The smell on this one is 10/10.
