Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Energized

It’s fresh and minty, with a hint of white floral and even a little citrusy on the initial spray. I’ve received compliments on this, one of them being that it’s a “mix of issey miyake and acqua di gio” so take that as reference. An inoffensive, somewhat sporty fragrance that will be generally enjoyed by anyone around you, especially in a spring or summer breezy day.

Allow me to translate, I speak "Lacoste"... Introducing the newest Eau de Lacoste scent for men L.12.12 Blanc SPORT *giggles* L.12.12 BLANC ENERGIZED EDITION (actual name) is geared to an international young and athletic sector, it takes sharp green mint (a la L.12.12 Vert) and warm ginger root (Bleu?) introducing them to a white floral heart and comes to rest on a grassy more amped-up "bare bones" vetiver base than Blanc L.12.12's. The wonderful way warm heady and tropical flowers are woven into a simple yet versatile manscent is what prompted me to first purchase BLANC. It's revamped version is a breath of fresh air. Although I did enjoy all three of the initial offerings in this line (based on their iconic pique polo shirt designs); I only purchased a full bottle of Blanc and 30 mls of Noir and Rouge, thus far. (The Jury is still "out" on Jaune) This takes IMHO some of the better qualities of the blue and green Eaux, isolates them and softly before fusing them into a lively aromatic scent that sporty, comfy and radiates a casual masculinity and uplifting sillage. I am purposefully steering away from words like "typical", "generic" or "ubiquitous" because-let's face it: LACOSTE is was and always will BE a "sport/athletic" company. It therefore carries through that their fragrances (in this modern post-IFRA market) reflect their primary products. To judge them by the very bar they have set seems a tad bit unfair... Many contemporary scents offered at mass market level, on initial application, smell "meh" or trite. Just like when you go shoe shopping-they all feel good new...but how do they wear?? This company took a pretty universal design and perfected it. A polo shirt is a polo shirt. A sport scent is a sport scent. They're all the same. Not so... Very affordable (30 ml $32 USD) above average quality and consistently as comfortable as their apparel, I think if you ARE going to do the whole "sport thing" you may as well stick with a company that KNOWS sports. I have this on my TRY AGAIN AND MAYBE BUY list (ranking somewhat higher with me than their last LIVE release) because that nagging gap in my completist collector's brain will be assuaged by this ENERGIZED Edition. Projection: soft to moderate Longevity: moderate Overall: 3,5/5 I am and have been, since I became "fragrante", a more than likely will always be a fan of this House. EAUX de Lacoste are just that: waters. Refreshing cologne type scents that last a bit longer than EDC's and radiate a bit more posh than most direct market releases but lack the high price and more opulent qualities of Niche and Luxe (respectively). I try to judge each scent on its own merits and flaws, as I see and sniff them, as neutrally as possible. ENERGIZED Edition is what it is, does what it says and for seventy-five (75) cents a ml at full retail...you could do a lot worse! Available at Macy's now. Their website also listed leather and cedarwood in the base notes; I get vetiver mostly and a subtle aura of sueded woods.

Energized is, as the bottle suggests, related to L12 White mainly because of that tuberose note, however less floral/fruity sweet (less feminine, could still be unisex). If L12 White was soft, this is even softer in sillage. I still consider it kind of redundant to own both, but maybe not given that male tuberose fragrances so that makes them really unique on themselves. Energized is obviously better suited for hot summer, the mint is welcomed and the vetiver keeps it refreshing as well.

This is a bit like a premium sports deodorant. Fresh citrus, quite pleasant and inoffensive but after a fair bit of use I decided I simply prefer the tones of CK One which have a bit better balance. Not great lasting either unfortunately. 3/5

Tried it today, it's quite nice and safe. Nothing like Invictus Aqua, why do people vote for things that aren't similar? It's weird... I'm not going to rush out and buy it, but if I see it for under $40 I'll likely get it

Just tried Lacoste White and this one side by side. Although both smell very similar, Lacoste White comes out more floral-sweet, while Energized is more grassy-soapy and less sweet. I prefer White.
