A fascinating creation that has some niche qualities while remaining very versatile. It's a predominantly woody, spicy affair with a splash of citrus on top and the sweet and sour immortelle and labdanum only coming into play hours later. Early on it is really very in-your-face woody. Like having your face right next to a freshly cut pine tree that's been covered in pepper, thyme, and possibly some lighter fluid for good measure. Vaguely reminiscent of something like Encre Noire, could it be that this contains a healthy dose of good old Iso E Super or similar in addition to all the naturals? My favorite part of the progression comes a couple of hours into wearing it, when the peppery wood retreats a bit and you become more aware of the citrus-immortelle sandwich it's wrapped in. And in the end only a lovely ambery immortelle skin scent remains, that can last into the next day.

No, it's not "wood heavy". The notes on this are pretty spot on and what you get the most of is immortelle and labdanum absolutes with pepper on top and some light bergamot blended in. I can't pinpoint thyme personally but it's gotta be in there as it's listed as an official note. Smells high quality, the price is fair and it's being heavily discounted now.

Alot of dislike. I own Ambra. It's easily one of the sexiest classiest scents I own. Sexy as is gorgeous, not raunchy. Smooth as hell. I'm tempted to purchase this for the immortelle alone. I'm a sucker for it. One of the most unique notes around. If this is a wood heavy frag, which reviews seem to deem, I might have to skip.

Herbal. Fresh. Gorgeous opening. Ambroxan heavy in the dry down. Unisex, leaning traditionally masculine. Undecided. Probably at it’s best in high summer, like the rest of the series.
