Tubereuse

The comparisons to Michael by Michael Kors were spot on. It's practically a dupe, and I say that as praise! My mother's signature scent is MK and when I found out they discontinued it, I was SOL on what to get her for a Christmas present. Then I came across this and saw the comparisons and I couldn't be happier! It's beautiful, it's elegant, it's timeless! I find it to be a little more soft & rounded compared to MK. Longevity is about the same, but projection is a little weaker than MK.

Oh, how I love this! Sweet, girlie tuberose, huge sillage and very long lasting power. Beauty, and very modern, wearable tuberose scent.

A silky scent. The regular soft tuberose, with a sweet hint of gardenia. For this kind of perfume, rather than describing what it's like, it's far more easier to describe what it isn't like. It's not sweet opulent like Fracas or sharp vegetal like Carnal Flower. Not animalic, not indolic, not dirty, not green. Frankly speaking, a lot of department store tuberose are better at this kind of self-castration scent, with a far more affordable price. Though I have to admit, this is a fine and long-lasting scent, and I got a whole lotta of people ask me what it is even on the second day.

A pleasurable, very wearable light Tuberose floral. Never loud, rather is is sheer, slightly sweet and fruity and i get raspberry predominantly, it could play sharp on some. I love the airy quality, it is modern and very fresh, it just seems perfect for spring and summer. I find that the dry down is great, a clean skin scent. I am happy to own it, different from the usual Tuberose scent I go for, I have been craving "light -ethereal" style, and this is just right.

For those who don't like the heady, bubblegum-like tuberoses. More on the soft-fresh floral side, but still with a certain kick. This one is fresher than you would think, with a delicious spicy twist (pink pepper).

These are all the fruity aspects of tuberose that are highlighted. This gives a childish side to the flower rather known for its sulphurous use. cute

My review of 'Tubereuse' is for the vintage parfum created by Paul Vacher soon after purchasing the venerable house from the original owner Prince Murat in the mid 1930's. Included in his extensive 'Fantasy' collection of fragrances for Le Galion this parfum was a lush, heady, slightly camphoracous & intoxicating white soliflore similar to the more modern cool mentholated, gasoline edged tuberose themed fragrances akin to those of Serge Lutens' 'Tubereuse Criminelle' & Ropion's 'Carnal Flower' by Frederic Malle. The vintage extrait's in my collection have aged like fine wines, most flacon's are still boxed and sealed with the juice the colour of XO cognac, while having been stored in a climate controlled facility for the last few years these rare and precious parfum's will hopefully endure for many decades to come, as a note of interest many of the floral absolutes used in perfumery at this time were produced in Grasse using the laborious and time consuming process of wax/fat enfleurage extraction on wired glass plates, especially the tuberose and it was a most costly endevour indeed of producing these potent absolutes, a practice prohibitively expensive by todays standards. I look forward to sampling this re-launched offering from the re-vived house of Le Galion along with other well known and loved perfumes such as 'Sortilege', 'Snob' & 'La Rose',(Rose) others in the original fantasy collection included 'Brumes', 'Iris' & 'Violette'. 'Bourrasque', another rich chypre consisted primarily of rare woods with similarities to Chanels' slightly earlier offering of Bois des Iles by perfumer Ernest Beaux plus the gorgeous & highly exotic 'Jasmin', still sought after today! It was most heartening to learn of the restoration of the house of Le Galion, perhaps Lanvin could bring back long discontinued rarities such as 'La Dogaresse' & 'Scandal', just a thought. . .in my wildest imaginings! This is great and a blind buy for me. Took a risk at a very good price. Full of raspberry in the opening, then the tuberose and then a lot of musk join it. I don’t like bitter tuberose, but this has a green tang to it that I enjoy. I have many tuberose fragrances and this one adds something slightly different to my collection.

I have the original by Paul Vacher. I found someone in Canada who was selling a 2 oz. Bottle and I bought it from her. Now I have this rare scent and find I cannot wear it. It is quite heady and lovely. There is one ounce remaining. I would happily sell it to anyone interested. $800.

Creamy, Banana-like, Sour green, somewhat but not overwhelmingly cresol and medicinal. It smells like the one between Nuit de Tubereuse and La Chasse aux Papillion of L'artisan Parfumeur.
