ANNCESTRAL

Anncestral was one of the scents from the collection that immediately resonated with me! I'm a sucker for incense and resins, and Anncestral delivers in spades!😍 In the opening, there's a quick flash of citrus and pepper, with a light anise touch. Then, the incense-heavy heart starts to settle in... The slightly sweet, citrusy and woody facets of copal seamlessly connect to the opening. Opoponax adds a more balsamic nature, ever so slightly earthy and powdery. And the last element, myrrh, amps up the resinous, bittersweet and lightly smoky profile of the blend. This triad sets the introspective core of the fragrance. They fold into each other, sharing space and traits, while combining into a sacred gum. As the composition further evolves into the base, benzoin also wraps up around the previous resins - connecting to the mellow vanilla and spiritual woods in the base, conveying some needed softness. Vetiver and Amber are also present, discreetly filling in the minute space between the myriads of saps... The whole wearing experience feels borderline spiritual... The kind of olfactory aura that perfectly sets the ambience for a much needed introspective break. Despite the undeniable abundance of resinous materials, the fragrance never feels too heavy... Quite the opposite, in fact! It feels like a grounding connection to the earth and self, while at the same time bestowing enlightenment and serenity. It's the expertly calibrated blend of the multiple resins that creates such a rich and textured incense silent storm - it makes you fly, without ever leaving the ground... If you appreciate meditative incense scents, then you should definitely grace your nose with Anncestral! It's a raw shout from the past, beautifully rendered through a modern light...
