Liu Jo Glam

I bought this as a cheap blind buy to cheer myself up as I'm currently in hospital. I wasn't expecting much. However, I've been totally blown away! First impressions - sweet fresh juicy berries with a bit of musk. The grapefruit pops its head out ever so often to keep this smelling fresh and juicy rather than overly sweet. Every stage of this fragrance is so well orchestrated. Usually I will prefer one stage over another but I'm loving every one here. In the dry down the ginger and freesia keep this fresh and sweet but with more of a floral overtone. It has a rather green base with the vetiver preventing the whole from ever becoming sickly in anyway. This is complex, fresh, juicy and over-all à wonderfully HAPPY fragrance 😃❤️

Going through many ginger fragrances, I came across Liu Jo Glam. I saw they sell minis, which I love to collect and bring with me anywhere I want, unlike a full bottle. At first I was scared to try a fragrance with Jasmine bc to me they usually smell like powder/cigs. Liu Jo Glam is anything but that! On skin I get fresh ginger+freesia+peony, and a base of musk+amber+vetiver with some grapefruit squeezed on top. I could do without the sweetness of peony. On clothes the peony is weaker and the fragrance less sweet and a lot less warm/vetiver-y, and instead it's more clean/soapy (similar to the Prada Paradoxe line), making it more likeable and democratic. It's an everyday scent.

For me this is the perfect summer scent. It's so fresh, uplifting and well-balanced. At the beginning it's more citrusy than floral and slightly sweet at the end, at least on my skin. One very successful blind buy, especially now when it's over 40°C outside.

Just like in the comment below, I also tested this in store, first on a paper strip. :) My first impression is that it smells rather floral, with a little bit of a fresh and soapy nuance. The scent gives me a slight impression of some cleaning product (or maybe something for shaving? Shower gel? I don't know...) ... but like, not too much, just a bit. I found the bottle quite interesting, but I expected the juice to smell differently, to be honest. That being said, this is not bad. :) it's a fresh, neutral, floral-soapy scent. Maybe for those times if you want an inoffensive floral fragrance, which is not too complex, but still smells fairly good and won't bother anyone around.

Tested this in store today, first on a paper strip: it reminded me of tangerines and something sweet, quite nice but not very special. Then I sprayed it on my skin to see how it develops: first I get the tangerines, then it becomes plasticky fruity sweet. The sweetness grows stronger and stronger, and by the time more artificial. Look, I like freesia, peony and jasmin,but I can't really say I smell any of those florals here. To me, it's more like a mix of fruit, ethyl maltol and a background impression of something floral. It may work differently on your skin, but for me this is a hard pass. Longevity is not bad, tried to scrub but it doesn't want to leave...
