Opera Noir

I sprayed some out (which wasn’t pleasant) and let this sit for a month. I just tried it again and it is really starting to develop into a beautiful fragrance. I 100% can pick up Pear in the top and then some florals, and coffee, and finally some vanilla and warm woody notes! It is still a little screechy but is definitely improved from the initial sprays! I don’t plan on wearing this until fall so it has plenty of time, but I can tell it’s going to be really great, and super sexy! The vanilla is there but is a bit faint from what I remember from the original but that may develop also! You can always layer it with a vanilla scent like Athena in the meantime! It’s a great fragrance for the price and worth every penny! Update- 2/11/26 wearing this today- Since I’ve purchased this, I’ve also purchased black opium, which I am head over heels over with ! This is indeed very close, I would say 90-95%, however it is a bit lighter on the vanilla and coffee. It’s there, for sure, it’s just lighter. But I’d probably layer this with a vanilla lotion or body spray to amp it up a little. Also, it’s pretty overall softer after maturation so I overspray it to get a similar effect to the more potent OG. That’s just a matter of preference. I do adore my middle eastern fragrances!! I’m pretty much a housewife so I have no need to wear increasingly pricy fragrances to cook and do the dishes! 😆 I often buy the original if I like the dupe. But around the house, I can still smell very much like the fragrances I love without wasting tons of money. If I do end up going out, they usually top up really well with the original! Win win!!!

This just arrived today and with a mfg date of this February, so I'm sure a little settling time will change the way this smells. Currently it's a dark vanilla jasmine and I'm just...so freaking happy about it. I've never tested out Black Opium, so I can't make any comparisons there...but my goodness, this is so close to what my Loverdose Tattoo smelled like when I first bought it in '15. Not the same, of course. But a very similar sort of feeling. Instead of cassis and bergamot for zip, here it's a delightful bit of pepper. It isn't cloyingly sweet as the tonka beans haven't had a chance to bully the floral notes over time (and, like the cassis in Tattoo turning cat-pee-esque, they'll never get a chance in Opera). Before Tattoo's milk note went sour it was this warm, creamy, lightly floral vanilla pod with a bit of a darker edge to it. And that's what I'm getting here. I wasn't looking for a replacement for what Tattoo originally was to my nose, but I'm pleasantly surprised to have found something that fills that void.

If you miss the original Black Opium before the reformulation, you need this! You have to be patient with it, as it will take months to mature into what it is supposed to be. Once it does, it is almost a spot-on dupe to that old formula Black Opium! I've had my bottle now for about 8 months. The first few months were not great. You could tell it was Black Opium, but the coffee was very faint. I've just dug this one out to give it a try, and it has developed into the Black Opium I remember from years ago!

Yup, great dupe for Black Opium, though not for the Police to be white skull. Lasts long, it's strong, bottle is heavy. Nobody will tell the difference between this and the OG. Great price. Very sophisticated, mature scent, for a woman who knows what she wants, great to wear to work or for a date. Love it!! Wish they'd also dupe the Glitter version :'(

I love this scent ! I get complimented on this fragrance like its crack, and almost everyone says I smell good. It is a soft, pear with chocolate biscotti with a hint of vanilla. This is not a vanilla crack machine, its a mix between sweet and toffee like without the caramel only biscotti . Try it, you will get compliments !

Black Opium is my signature scent but I wanted an affordable dupe to carry with me and make dusting powders with, this is almost indistinguishable. I think it lacks some of the warmer notes like coffee found in the original Black Opium, otherwise a great dupe and no one would be able to tell from a distance.

This is a very good dupe in the dry down. The opening isn’t as close, opera noir is more fruity, less coffee. After 20 minutes they’re nearly identical though, so a good option for 1/4 of the price!

I love this one, great clone of YSL Black Opium. Very beautiful pear opening that quickly turns into velvety coffee, vanilla and jasmine that stays for many hours before a beautiful woody dry down.

Finally this is on Fragrantica... I think this is a good dupe of black opium. When I first got it it was HORRIBLE and all I smelt was grandma white florals for about 2 months... now I've had it for just under a year and it smells very similar to black opium; sweet, perfumey is about all I can describe because none of the notes stick out specifically. But, it smells like black opium. My friends have smelt it who own the real perfume and says it smells basically the same, it just needed to macerate a while. It doesn't have a huge projection but I get whiffs when I wear it and has maybe about 6 hours of longevity, not sure how this compares to the original.

Finally more of the Alhambra fragrances are being added. This smells exactly like Black Opium but this one has to sit for a few months before the vanilla and coffee becomes prominent. So worth it!!! I love layering this with Caramel Cascade by Paris Corner

Smells exactly like YSL black opium but the dry down smells like baby powder . Can't complain tho big heavy 100 ml for under 30 dollars.

This just smells like sugared white flowers and blood/cola. I've never smelt black opium but if this is what it smells like then ....

Pretty good dupe for Black Opium, especially in the opening. Then of course it’s not 100% identical, but if you want the Black Opium experience for cheaper it’s a good alternative. But if you’re a big Black Opium fan I suggest just investing in a bottle, maybe when it’s on sale.

The opening is pretty fruity with the pear standing out a bit and with a weird tinge. Then it dries down to a white floral/vanilla blend that I don’t care for. Not bad but not worth keeping around. I like Opium over Red better anyways.

Smells like overly sweet, sugar-coated white flowers.... I've had this bottle for a few months now and so far there's no coffee and vanilla...I guess I should let it sit for a while like others said

The opening has a very distinct Metallic note. One that makes me not want to pick this up. The dry down however is very close.

initially smells like BO but dries down pretty quickly to a fainter scent. weak longevity and sillage.

Im super disappointed.. this thing lasts 30min. It smells amazing, it's honestly a very seductive and dirty parfume, in a way primal if you know what I mean. But what's the point if it will last 30 min. That's the first arab parfume ever that lasts so little in my collection.

Opening is 100% spot on to Black Opium but the dry down smells like vintage baby powder. No ty!

This does not smell like black opium! Black opium has a rich vanilla background, this has a weird synthetic sweet(does not come off as vanilla) peppery floral smell. Save your money, I'm so disappointed in this one.
