Rose Origami

This reminds me a lot of Paris Corner Unique Portrait or of Maison Alhambra The Artist, both clones of Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle. However, Rose Origami has a warm and spicy opening that brings in a coffee note that is unique. But the overall effect is similar to the aforementioned clones - warm, spicy (cloves), a gorgeous dark rose, and patchouli. Despite the bottle design, this could easily be masculine due to the patchouli and the robust amber base, with what I interpret as clean leather notes as well. Great for the winter months when applied liberally. Update and Observations: A few weeks of rest have done this fragrance a world of good. The initial spicy opening, which was a bit sharp at first, has softened considerably. The dry-down, with its beautiful rose and patchouli notes, feels much more delicate and smooth.

This is a fantastic dupe of Cafe Rose. I picture this the perfect scent for a cosy winter morning sipping your cappucino in a dimly lit cafe, wrapped in a fuzzy knit sweater. A mature, vintage powdery rose, the patchouli helps it maintain it's earthiness, with sadly only a faint waft of coffee, it mainly fades away with the power of the rose and other spices. The corianger and ylang are minor. So elegant, so classy, reasonable lasting time. Reminds me of old school rose dusting powders that was one of the first perfumed things I'd ever smelled, in a department store when I was probably 5 years old. I'm 29 now, and that ultra feminine rose note has stuck with me for that long. So yeah. I'll be buying a full bottle, just not the TF version.

I have both this and the original and to me they are 95% the same, if I smelt one without the other I’d say I could not tell the difference. The original has a little bit more of the chocolatey patchouli and is a bit smoother side by side. Longevity and projection is the same so id get this over the original since it was £15. Bottle is nice in person too. I don’t think cafe rose / rose origami is for everyone, and it’s probably an acquired taste, it’s quite a vintage smelling rose, it’s soft powdery, with a touch of sweetness. Similar sort of vibe to Nishane Nanshe which I also had and enjoyed but again I would imagine would be polarising.

This is so close to Café Rose, I'll probably never buy the OG. The longevity is pretty much the same for a fraction of the price and I find this one so versatile. It opens with a fresh rose and cardamom and turns into a powdery, creamy rose. It's a steal and lovely, could probably be worn all year round.

So glad I picked this one up! She’s beautiful. This smells elegant yet fun at the same time. Not an overly mature rose. Quite modern imo. Great perfume for day/night and the patchouli isn’t overwhelming. Would appeal to 30+ imo.

Stop it! This is so beautiful! It is a gorgeous sweet/ tart rose. It's deep and nuanced. I cannot stop sniffing this! I don't really get coffee, but it is so complex and rich. I love it.

Fresh and woody, feminine and lovely. Fresh out of the box. I'm going to let macerate and see if it gets even better.

This just came in and I like it, almost love it already! I don’t have any of comparable scents so I’m judging this on its own! I think it’s a super sexy scent for fall and winter! The coffee-rose combo is amazing and I love the patchouli! It’s not sharp and doesn’t seem to need to mature! I think this will be a stunning compliment getter in the cooler months! Edit- 12/1 now that I’ve had it for a while I decided to revisit it! I have TF cafe rose in my cart but wanted to see what this has turned into before I hit the checkout. I have to be honest, I like it better when it first arrived. It is still pretty but it has matured into a much more powdery scent and I can’t really detect the coffee note any longer. The patchouli has also become less obvious. From reviews of TF, it sounds like that is very much like the original so this may be more like the scent it’s intended to be duping, but less my style. This changed a lot and I’m kinda bummed about it. However, the base is still gorgeous once you get there and lasts a long time!

I'm wearing this as a test on a sunday. I know it will mature into something else in a short while. It shoots on very Rosey. That Avon Rose cream scent my mom always seemed to have. I'm not especially turned on to Roses as a scent but surprise myself eating a bunch of turkish lukhum candy that reeks of it. It brings my mom back in my memory. In it's infancy like other reviewers I get a Tart Old school Powdery Rose. I could easily shoot givenchy gentleman 74 over it and Patch it up....but I prefer seeing it evolve as I use it. 21$ buy. No regrets as I am going to start experimental layering of stuff I find gets less use....

Ok when I first got this I was pretty disappointed because to my nose, it was super powdery, like straight baby powder and that is not how I remember Tom Ford café rose smelling. But now that it's had a few months to sit, the rose & a tad bit of sweetness has come out, the baby powder smell has chilled out, and it is much closer to café rose. I refreshed my memory & smelled CR again and it does smell like 90% similar. There's still something that Tom Ford has that this doesn't but for less than $20, it's worth it. Great longevity + sillage as well.

honestly struggled to enjoy this at the beginning with that insane old woman powder smell, but wow... for the price you cannot go wrong. month and a half macerated and it’s a beaut. not extremely long lasting but still very decent. better than jazz club. going to keep it in the drawer for another month and see how it does with a bit more time. but it was lovely for the week i tried it.

Tried it for the first time today. Clean, sweet rose fragrance. With Ylang Ylang/white floral and slight talcum powder undertones. It's an enjoyable scent. I am going to resell. It feels a little old fashioned to me.

After so many misinterpretations of the name of the original, and people actually expecting the fragrance to smell like coffee and not the place where you drink it, Maison Alhambra wisely chose not to follow that line despite the hype. Indeed, this one has coffee too, but it stays in the background, supporting other notes. Which is what I was looking for; if you are looking for a coffee-forward scent, you can skip this one. I blind bought this because it follows the notes of the OG quite accurately and because I wanted to see how the interplay of patchouli, coriander and cardamom would work out on my skin (with patchouli and cardamom being quite tricky for me). At this price, I felt comfortable taking that risk. (As a side note, I like how some of the Arabic dupes cut the extremes, take the edge off from the originals, making fragrances more balanced, wearable and pleasant (usually, meaning less sweet, cloying... which is not something you would automatically expect from Arabic houses). I don't own many of them, but my favorites are Arosa by Al Ambra (dupe of (discontinued) Modern Muse Nuit by Estee Lauder) and Royal Blend Sequoia by F. Avenue (Angels' share Paradis by Kilian). This being a TF dupe, I was expecting a heavy, dense fragrance, but this was excitingly light and fresh rose-dominant scent with coriander making itself present from the first minutes, almost giving a bergamot-like vibe. I was happy to discover that patchouli is well-blended and toned down here, giving depth to this fragrance without becoming pungent or overbearing. I see this as a fresher, lighter, younger version of Perles de Lalique: both remind me of Turkish delight, with the latter being much more medicinal, balsamic and it does not work well for me as a stand-alone fragrance - but I layer it with Amethyst Exquise from the same brand and just love the outcome of their interplay. Perles de Lalique has far superior quality of ingredients (which is why I kept it in the first place while looking for a solution) and better performance in terms of longevity and projection, both moderate in Rose Origami, but this one is surprisingly good for the price, way better then expected. It can be easily worn as a daily scent, suitable for office too, best suited for colder days and months.

I've bought it blindly, I don't know TF Café Rose but wanted safe rose-patchouli combo for spring. And it is exactly that. I don't really get any coffee. It's fresh with spices in the beginning and followed by rose, which is dominant. Well rounded patchouli grounds tge fragrance, so the rose is not that linear and overpowering. And that's it. A bit of woodsy notes with patchouli in the drydown. I feel like I can quite happily overspray without suffocating anyone, it's kinda light and breezy - but not for summer heat, at least not for me. I love Perles de Lalique, which I prefer for autumn and winter, Ilove it's medicinal and more potent patchouli. And Origami Rose for spring - lighter and slightly younger, more easy going cousin of Perles.

I blind bought this after I managed to smell the OG Tom Ford frag in sephora and I thought I really liked it then. Today this clone arrived in my hands and I sprayed it abundantly on a test paper and I now realised it smells like Zara Mystic Rose upon the dry down. And... I don't really care for it. Yikes! Good thing it's not that pricey but would have been better if I bought something else instead ((

thought this was extremely mid when I first got it and completely ignored it for 2-3 months. Now this is one of my favorite fragrances and Im not even really into rose like that. This fragrance has a magical quality to it and I think the pre matured testing is bringing this rating down by .4 points. Deserves a solid 4.45-4.52. Gorgeous
